The only thing worse than being the pack’s omega is being mated to a cursed wolf. Shane and I are bonded, but we have to keep our relationship a secret. The pack is still at risk, and our rivals are lurking on our doorstep, waiting to strike against us. As sickness makes its way through the pack, Shane is dealing with a poison of his own. Every full moon, the Shadow Curse forces Shane to become an enraged monster… and if we don’t find the cure, he’ll soon be driven mad, and lost to me forever. My powers are awakening, and they’re out of my control. The demon blood inside of me is reckless and unbound, seeking out a deadly power. My enemies can’t be stopped… but neither can I. It’s time to show the pack just what I’m made of. *** The Night Burning is a fated rejected mates enemies-to-lovers romance. Shifters, dragons, and demons collide in this paranormal urban fantasy saga that is part of author Juliana Haygert’s Rite World universe.
Rite Night Wolves The Night Calling (Book 1) The Night Burning (Book 2) The Night Hunting (Book 3) The Night Rising (Book 4)
While Juliana Haygert dreams of being Wonder Woman, Buffy, or a blood elf shadow priest, she settles for the less exciting—but equally gratifying—life of a wife, mother, and author. She resides in North Carolina and spends her days writing about kick-ass heroines and the heroes who drive them crazy.

The Night Burning is the second book in Juliana Haygert's Rite World: Nite Wolves series and just when you think that things can't get any wilder - brace yourself, more is coming your way...fast. It's literally out of the frying pan and into the fire. Prepare for some more revelations and our main characters now have more problems to face - demon blood, a curse that turns Shane into a terrifying monster and a ticking clock. Can you feel the tension building? Because it is. The pack is still in danger, and the others who surround them smell blood. They have to get things under control and fast, but it won't be an easy road ahead of them. This book gives you all the feels and then some. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and coming back for more. There might be a moment or two where you get a bit dulled by the storyline, but hang in there! Things get back on track and you're going to devour this book. I'm choosing to rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Omg you've done it again when will Shane and his pack get a break the trauma they've been through is such a rollercoaster ride just when you think there going to some where then boom another bomb when off wow that ending omg I need to read the next book like now 😊
OMG!!!!! I need more, is the next book written yet?!? The second book in this series was amazing! It was suspenful and page turning! I loved reading how these characters developed! And that ending!
I absolutely loved book one so was super excited to read book two and it was every bit as exciting and gripping. Once again I was more then happy to jump on board this rollercoaster as it took off for Raika and Shane. They are true mates but have to hide it because although they have been freed they still have to fight to save the pack. It’s a packed storyline filled with action, twists and turns and surprises, romance, mystery, suspense and had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails on more then one occasion. It’s an intense second book and I am eager for more!
Wonderful book. Full of surprises. I absolutely loved the ending. Great carictors and plot. I'm more then excited for the next book. I can't wait to find out what happens next in the Rite World.
Juliana really has done it again, after all the issues Raika, Shane and the pack went through in the last book, will they ever get a break? With more twists, turns and heartbreak, everyone is under fire again. But this time more is at stake with more to lose. Absolutely loved reading and soo invested in finding out what happens next. Shane deserves happiness and so does Raika.
After defeating Conri, the problems did not go away, just changed shape. The pack alpha is cursed, mated to an omega that seems to have strange abilities on her own, the pack lands are unprotected, the barrier is down, and there are pack wars around - also knocking on their doorstep. For Shane and Raika, it seems there is an endless list of tasks that should be handled with the highest priority, and when an unknown poison starts to spread through the land and infecting people, the urgency to find solution increases. Especially with the knowledge there is a puppet master behind the threats - and there is a sleeping creature under their feet that can destroy them all. Yet the most potential to destroy everything have the secrets kept.. Nice and fast paced story that answers some questions from book one and provides explanations on several points, yet raises what feels like million additional new questions. There is constantly something going on, not a moment of break to take a breath and for the protagonists to collect themselves. The story flies by fast, twisting and turning, finding just enough space to spotlight also the relationship between Shane and Raika and show how their personalities fit together. With the new revelations and especially the ending, I am now very curious what happens in the next book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
They just keep getting better! My only complaint is the need to wait a few months for part 3. This one ends with a big plot development that is intentionally mysterious (for lack of a better word) 😀.
Shane has regained his Alpha status, Raika & Shane discover that they are fated mates, & the wolf clans are not getting along. Lots of mystery & intrigue. You'll have to read the book to find out the true cause of the revolt by the evil Wolves & against the good ones (& other shifters). You'll also have to read to find out several surprising things about Raika
Ms Haygert keeps it very interesting. She also keeps the evil emotionally tolerable (which I think is very important today due to our nightmare of a real world).
She shows a good balance with enough explicit sex to keep the readers who like it entertained, but not offend most others. As a male, I have noticed more & more books written by Women (& for Women??) with very explicit sex than just a few years ago. I'm 64, & had a lot of partners in the previous century. Wish I would have known then what I do now........ It seems to me that based on a number of stories I've read over the last couple years written by Women that sex is much more important to many Women than what our culture taught us (both Men & Women) when I was young. I'm glad that Women are being enabled to enjoy their lives more (we thought that had already happened with the "Woodstock Generation"; apparently not so.
Back to the book (lol)! This is great stuff in general, really hard to put down & frustrating to have to wait for book 3. I need to go through my Kindle's (awful) search engine, & see which of Ms. Haygert's series that I've missed. I suspect there may be a few. I'd like to read them
The Night Burning is the second book in the Night Wolves series and it's phenomenal, from the moment you start reading it, you can't put it down, because every time you finish a chapter you want more and more. The advance that has the relationship between Raika and Shaine, I like it. Both face difficult situations, but with the support of the other, they try to overcome them. They slowly help the pack recover from all the time they suffered from abuse. Having already read the books that belong to this world, I always jump for joy when reading other characters that appear. In this book, the mythology of this world expands again and all it does is excite me more, as it opens the door to more stories and secrets to be revealed. And that ending, in addition to breaking my heart, also leaves me with all the desire to read the next book, which will undoubtedly be fantastic.
I need more like freaking yesterday!! Everything these two and the pack have been through you keep thinking dang are they ever going to catch a break and right now the answer is not likely. Once again Juliana sucks you right into the story and hold you captive while you go through the twists and turns right along side of Raika and Shane. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what is gonna pop off next. I loved the growth with Raika and Shane. These two deserve their HEA and I am glad to be along for the journey. Cant wait for the next book.
Wait! What? No, it can’t possibly be! I loved this book but it made me cry. The story is well written and keeps you engaged. These people have gone thru more than anyone should have to and then they had to leave their home. An absentee father shows up and makes things even more difficult. I can’t wait for the next book I must know what happens. All of the characters have things they must overcome but the worst of it is the loss of a mate.
Wow. Just wow. I’m speechless. What am I supposed to say after this? This is definitely one of my favorite books of 2022. I’ve been anticipating this book and Juliana didn’t disappoint! I loved it so much.
Blooming heck! Now that was fast paced! 4 stars because if anything it was a bit too much for me I couldn’t keep up, anxiety was spiked and I just wanted to jump in there and help Raika tear everyone down! 🖤 onto the next one!
Raika and Shane are in for a rollercoaster of feelings in this one because they have to keep their bonding a secret I just adore them and the rite World can't wait to read Hunting.
WTH did I just read?, no, just no!!! 😫 Enthralling, unputdownable, unpredictable installment, that will make you shed a few tears! 😢... OK a lot, and my heart hurts! 😭 What now?, I need the next book stat!!! 🥲 Damn!... this story just gets better, amazing job Juliana!!! ❤️
How do you know when a book is good? When you go on only a few hours of sleep knowing you have work in a few hours but, because the book is good and your can't stop reading it. Book #2 and I am just as addicted.
Why does everything have to happen to the good people?
The best part that I liked the most; Killian & Lavinia are from a different type of pack from where they have all lived. Shane thinks Raika has a heart of gold!! & they didn't want anyone to know they were mated to each other. Also was where Shane treating Tyren (his lil bro) like hell be his successor one day & the girls asking for basic training for themselves.....
These are the parts that I disliked the most; Dixon stealing the gems, Fighting Raika' father from the underworld..... Then Shane saying his final goodbye to the love of his life lighting a pyre. Then to top it off... Raika wakes up & asks "Who Am I?"
**Juliana... I'm seriously dying here wanting to know what's happening next???**
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The last book ended with a big cliffhanger and this book was like a chess match setting the board of an impossible Situation becoming more impossible. I was rather disappointed on the sneaking around parts of the main characters about their relationship. The writing and the characters were well done but with the added new cliffhanger and all the secrecy and betrayals it was a hard book to read. I think maybe the hardest part was I didn’t really feel like Shane was acting like a true alpha. I felt he was always unsure and reacting to situations and not really taking charge like he should’ve been doing. Also the whole keeping Riaka a secret and him letting her deal with the pack jerks was something I just can’t see a mate doing…… even if he was asked.
the only thing that bugs me about this series is the overuse of the phrase "by the moon". I get it, it's a wolf shifter series... but there has to be more than that one phrase to use... other than that it's a great series. I haven't read this type of series before so I think it's pretty good. Idk how to write a review without spoilers so im not going to give any details.
Love the love story, the old characters that keep popping out from previous books, and the expansion of new supernaturals into this world. Ready for the next installment...
Such a wonderful continuation of the first book. It had the same magic feel of being brought into a new reality. The ending was so shocking and good. Definitely set up to want to continue into the next one to see what's to come.
The end of the book killed me. I enjoyed this book's ups and downs but didn't expect this ending at all. The twists were killing me in this book, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Just as the first book, fun, easy-to-read, and intriguing paranormal romance. After everything that happened in the first book, we still have questions to answer (the curse, Raika's father, the crystals, etc) and a pack to return to normality. I'm still invested in the journey. The ending was your typical soap-opera move, but I'm here for it XD
Very interesting! About half way through I set it aside thinking I knew what would happen and decided to read something. Thank goodness I second guessed and picked it back up! The battles, the love, and the intense desire to help this pack heal and move on spurned me forward. Never saw the ending coming and I look forward to the next book in the series. The only negative I have is that each chapter switches point of view and it was sometimes difficult to determine who was talking.
