Sunshine and Shadows was my first book by ML Decker but won’t be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth between Maya and Daniel as their relationship grew. The book was a combo of Rom-Com and suspense which I liked a lot. The only things that kept it from being a 5 star were I felt their relationship was a little rushed though it wasn’t really an ‘instalove’ story and I would have liked to have the backstory of what was going on with Lily and how that culminated in Maya’s troubles. (No spoilers here!) Overall, however, I recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

This is a very sweet and nice story. I laughed a lot reading it. I haven’t read the others in the series but I really enjoyed reading this one. It has thrill, suspense, love and banter. Daniel and Maya are very cute together, even though she pushes him away for a while. Thank you for allowing me to arc read it.

Maya is a 911 operator and is part of a prison pen pal system. She starts getting followed and stalked, so her best friend enlists the help of Daniel, who runs Sky Security. The chemistry is instant for them but can he keep her safe before the worst happens?
Maya is fiery, all attitude, lives for the moment, goes after what she wants, and is fiercely determined. Daniel is protective, passionate, family man, and will stop at nothing to protect her.
This book definitely has some spice, but it’s not over the top which I liked. I loved Maya and can relate a lot to her character. It’s the 9th book of the Welcome to Kissing Springs series and releases July 11th.

What started out as an instalove story quickly turned dark. Liked the playful relationship of Daniel and Maya and love Daniel's relationship with his family. Feel like I was missing something with the Bear/Addie story.

Now usually romantic suspense is not my thing. But this read had me from page one. For a story on the shorter side thua packed a punch. I adored Daniel with his quirky ways and how he fell head over heels for Maya. He truly made the book for me. Truly his personality is one I would have been attracted to asap. Maya needed her knight in shining armor and boy did Daniel own up to that in tenfold. If you are looking to read a book that's on the shorter side filled with suspense and some spice and you are looking for a new book boyfriend this is your book!

Sunshine & Shadows is my first read from M.R. Becker.
This was a suspenseful, exciting, and fun quick read.
There was lots of hilarious banter between Maya and Daniel which I Loved.
And when they finally come together? WOW. These two are made for one another.
I loved all the secondary characters as well, and cannot wait to read more from M.R. Becker.

WOW is all I can really say. M.R. Becker has a way of writing these fantastic romantic suspense novels that leave you saying, "Now I need the next one ASAP". No cliffhanger in this book but man I need the next story because I am invested in the side characters as much as I am the main characters. Is there such a thing as romantic suspense romcom because if not there should be. You get the intensity of a suspense novel with the laughs of a romcom.
Maya and Daniel are hilarious. Maya is one tough cookie and thinks she can do everything herself and doesn't need a man. Daniel is the epitome of a goofball and jokester. These two are absolutely fire when they finally come together. They are truly made for one another.
MR Becker man you have done it again. I am loving this series and most definitely can't wait for the next one. Sitting here impatiently waiting for the next one.

Part of a multi-author series, this book can be read as a standalone.
I love a story with banter - and this book had plenty of it!
Perpetual joker Daniel has been tasked to help move his Maya, his friend's fiancee's best friend, into Kissing Springs, where she has just relocated. She is moving after a pen pal becomes too friendly and will not leave her alone. Unfortunately, her issues follow her and for her safety, she temporarily moves in with Daniel. Daniel works for a security company and vows to keep her safe.
I mentioned the banter. but the writing was another level of banter. "You know, in life you can't have happiness without a p3n1s in it." There are so many witty lines in this book that I laughed out loud multiple times.
The storyline also had a suspense aspect to it. The story is well written and kept me guessing right until the end. I could not put this book down!

This is my first time reading M R Becker's work, and it was not disappointing. Sunshine and Shadows is a romance with lots of suspense, laughs and some steam. Daniel and Maya are the main characters in this story.
Daniel is Mr Sunshine; he is the one who makes the joke and breaks the ice. Daniel works with a security team who are now charged with keeping Maya safe. Maya has received threatening letters from someone and has yet to learn who the person is.
While she does not know Daniel well, his sunny and funny personality puts her high-strung one on edge. Some days she feels like clobbering him, but she is also very attracted to him.
Daniel's motto of never getting involved with someone who lives in his town is slowly dying since he met Maya. Something about her makes him feel she is the one for him. Can he convince Maya to give him a chance and protect her from the crazed person?
Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Sunshine and Shadows is a mix of romantic comedy and suspense which made it an enjoyable read.
Maya and Daniel's banter with one another is hilarious because while they both are attracted to one another they don't act on it due to their mutual friends warnings to "stay away" from one another. Of course the only reason for that warning is that their friends know that both Maya and Daniel will sooner than later jump each other to have some spicy time together.
The only thing really that kinda threw me off was that the story was a bit fast spaced and there were certain details/plot points that I wished were expanded on. An example of this is the situation with Daniel's sister Lily that was mentioned but not really explained.

Sunshine & Shadows is the first book by Ms. Becker that I have read and it was a terrific, funny romance with some suspense thrown in. Maya and Daniel are two strangers who met through a mutual friend and boy the banter and push/pull relationship that developed had me in stitches. When danger came after Maya you say Daniel pull out all the strings to make sure she was safe He had her staying with him, letting him take care of her and placing her on a pedestal. We also see Daniel fall first and boy did he fall hard.
Grab this RomCom suspense-filled romance and enjoy Daniel and Maya's story.

M. R. Becker created a unique and thrilling book. The overall concept was brilliant. Maya is a strong and independent woman who refuses to settle for anything less than pure passion. Unfortunately, she finds herself in danger while trying to do something nice and give back to a community of people who have no one to share their days with. What started as a pen pal program now is a fight to stay alive. Daniel’s persistence and protectiveness were so sweet to watch. I loved his internal narrative. Loyal and fierce, Daniel proves to be a perfect book boyfriend. Such a well-thought-out plot and enjoyed this book.

What a great story and always great to find a new to me author.
911 operator, Maya is in a bit of trouble when a friend of a friend, Daniel steps up to help.
I liked the build up of the relationship and their chemistry they had. Maya the thrill seeker against Daniel who knows what he wants. They worked but it was a bit feisty there for a while.
Very well done with interesting characters that get you involved in the story. I really liked these two and the plot had me really interested. Great work!!

This is the second book in the Sky Security series, following Daniel who works for the security company and Maya who is a 911 operator. She is receiving threatening letters and being stalked, so she moves in with Daniel to keep her safe. There is much humor and bickering between the 2 main characters, also suspense and romance. My only negative is there were so many people involved in the story that I had trouble keeping track of them. I give it 5 stars!!!

Daniel knew from the start that Maya was the one for him but it took her a bit longer to come to the realization. She thought him immature due to his joking manner but when her life was threatened, his protective side came out. This story is more rom-com than suspense. I found some of the humor a little too youngish for me.

I received this book for a fair and honest review. The thing is, I’m still sitting here kind of wondering what I read. It felt very all over the place at times, and maybe that was due to jumps in the timeline, or it was the dual POV. Typically I don’t have any issue with dual POVs, but something about the pacing threw me. I wanted so badly to like this much more.

When Maya starts receiving letters from stranger, she knew she would need some help. Daniel is Mr. Sunshine to everyone around him. He is on her security team and is swore to protect her. Through some funny banter between them and more, they will discover their love for each other. The suspense, their love and some steamy smut in between make this an incredible read

What happens when you get a spicy redhead and a joking security person. This book. It was so good. It had spice, sass, mystery, and a little of sexiness. it wasn't overly gruesome or risque. Perfect read.

A true mystery job
This one will certainly keep you guessing until the very end. It has plenty of chemistry and heat and I loved the attitude. Really enjoyed the characters and their story.

In this delightful small town, sunshine meets grumpy story, we meet Maya and Daniel. Maya is a fiery, dynamic 911 operator introduced to Daniel a security expert when she is moving and needs help. Daniel is the work partner to Maya’s best friend’s boyfriend.
Maya, in her dynamic fashion, has downplayed the severity of the stalker’s letters and things escalate from there.
I really enjoyed this standalone in the Welcome to Kissing Springs-Sunshine Season, book 5. They all can be read separately, but, I wish I started with one. They are also written by different people. The series is fantastic from what I’ve read and I have started back at one. The spice is really good, appropriately timed and blended well with the story.
The story was smooth and exciting, building up leading to a amazing conclusion.
