Very enjoyable and fast paced story. I liked the secondary characters in this story Amelia's father and mother Aaron and Miriam and her sibling's. What hoot of a family.
Amelia Fletcher 19yr. old daughter of Viscount Wilmington does not want a marriage based on love. She is introduced to the Nathanial Walford Duke of Barrington who wants the same thing a loveless marriage.
There is an unexpected twist in the story when someone tries to kill Ameila to stop her from marrying the Duke.
One of the things I didn't like was the Dukes annual income of 8,000 a year. I thought it was to low Mr. Darcy had 10,000 a year right? I think Nathaniel should have had much more. I don't know why that bother me hehehehe LOL!!
The diverse personalities in this delightful tale will keep you turning the pages late into the night. There is a distinct lack of communication between several of the characters and one wonders what would have happened to Nathaniel and Caroline if they'd simply listened to each other. Perhaps they might have married and been happy, but such superficial ton marriages inevitably turned sour; sometimes quite quickly. True love is hard to pin down. Amelia's parents are scandalous, but one has to chuckle at their antics. They really are a refreshing breath of air, if embarrassing to their daughters. In their circle of society, judgement would have been swift. The hidden depths to several of the relationships add colour to this story, but I was shocked at Caroline's blatant attempts to coerce Nathanial into having an affair. This really brought out her true nature, as did Priscilla's machinations. This was an ARC I voluntarily read and review.
Duke Nathaniel needs a wife but he has sworn to never love again after his heart was broken a year ago. Amelia needs a husband to secure the future for her sisters but love is out of the question. She does not want to become like her parents who inappropriately showcase their love publicly to the embarrassment of their children. When Nathan hears that Amelia is looking for the same arrangement as him he seeks out an introduction. Nathan is handsome and wealthy. Amelia is no beauty. As they spend time together he sees her beautiful soul and can’t help grow to love her. Their story is full of cruel whispers in the ton, rumors, jealously, passion, and broken trust. There is a good twist that keeps it interesting.
Wonderful read and great interaction between the characters. They started out going I to a relationship and suppose marriage if convenience. Little dud they know they would come to live each other deeply. but first they had a few obstacles to overcome, especially rumors in the background and then Amy being pushed down the stairs. hate had his two first friends Owen and Priscilla who no one was aware of who was behind all the rumors and who pushed Amy down the stairs. I will leave you here as you have to dread the n Book. hate and Amy get they HEA. Would highly recommend thus read and author.😊
Amelia and Nathaniel What a wonderful mix this story was it had some much going for it I was completely engaged with the story and it characters. The author did an excellent job of storytelling it was so entertaining. These were two very misguided characters where love was concerned I love when they figure out they are all wrong about that.
What behaviour from parents makes a young lady want to totally give up on love? Read this and find out. She finds a Duke who is looking for a loveless marriage too, so perhaps they will both get their wish, but someone keeps putting obstacles in the way. The villain is revealed finally, and the couple marry and guess what, they fall in love. Well written and very enjoyable.
Amelia and Nathaniel’s story was a good read that kept me busy today. I wanted to find out how the story ended and what happened to Amelia’s crazy family. I always like to read the extended story that allows you to jump ahead years to find out how everything turns out.
This is a fun read, as long as you don't get hung up on some of the language and mannerisms of the characters, that don't quite fit the time period. The heroine is wonderful and forthright - I can understand why the Nathaniel finds Amelia so attractive, even though she isn't conventional beauty. And there is a very interesting twist at the end.
When best friend begins to show true colors. Need a bit more foreshadowing that her actions were distructive. Graphic sex feels counter to traditional Recency Romance and disappoints this reader.
Amelia doesn’t want a love match, her parents have a love match and embarrassing at parties! Nathan was engaged and he was hurt when she is caught with another man! So they make a deal, betrothed but no kissing! Where all this goes is vert entertaining!
A good story about Amelia the daughter of a viscount and the deal she made with Nathaniel a duke There were circumstances that happened to tear them apart but love happened The characters are determined and realistic A entertaining read
Interesting characters made this a refreshing read. The family dynamics was very well written. It also dealt with the love shown and that love strikes when you least expect it
This book was a fun push the boundaries romance between a Duke and a Lady not wanting to fall in love. But that pull of the heart has her fighting a battle she just can't win. Read if you love Romance with a twist.
Love Nathaniel's and Amelia's story. They believe they were both looking for a marriage of convenience. Once together, all those priorities change. The culprit was an amazing surprise. Highly recommend this sory!
When I read the introduction to this book, I just had to buy it. Not many Recency Romance stories start off this way. Nope I was pleasantly entertained till the end.
A story with it's ups and downs, twists and turns and even mystery and intrigue. The story's characters draw you into their story and keep you guessing what next?
A true story of so much missed communications but for once a male that does not give up The love scenes just right and lovely to see romance alive and well
