Rate this book
If someone erased your memory, would you still know God?

President Denali's war on crime has yielded unprecedented results, but its consequences are far from anticipated. As he wages war against every remaining criminal, he forms his own personal army—at a cost.

When Ellie Hatcher finds herself chosen for a pivotal role in this clandestine sect shrouded in mystery, it forces her to leave behind everyone she knows and loves in less than 24 hours. Haunted by guilt and plagued by doubts, she must navigate a treacherous path where loyalty and self-discovery intertwine.

But something sinister is at play. As people around Ellie begin losing their memories and surrendering their ability to dissent, she embarks on a race against time to uncover the truth and save the world…and a man she finds herself unexpectedly falling for.

Diving deeper into the dark undercurrents of President Denali's regime, Ellie discovers a shocking revelation—the president's thirst for power knows no bounds. And in a world where memory is both a weapon and a weakness, she must question her role in the president's grand scheme.

Ellie may have been chosen as a pawn by the president, but her presence in the training facility just might be a special assignment from God.

Truth in the Name is an enthralling blend of mystery, romance, and thrilling exploration. Through Ellie's journey, readers are compelled to question the nature of memory, the consequences of power, and the enduring strength of faith. Fans of dystopian fiction and Christian thrillers are sure to be captivated by this thought-provoking tale that challenges the limits of human perception and the very essence of what it means to know God.

This is a new author for me and I wasn't sure what to expect - but I wasn't disappointed.

Eileen Hatcher has disappeared, and her family has no idea what has happened to her. Two years later Ellie is approached by the President of the US and told she is going to be a part of a new crime fighting organization he is setting up. She is to bring nothing with her and tell no one. When they come for her the next day she is drugged and brought to the new facility, and things just feel wrong to her, very wrong from the beginning. As soon as she gets there she is given a new name and told that her past life is over, never talk about it, she is now Sarah.

With her group are several Christians, some in name only but many in truth. The President doesn't want there to be any Christians, so he is brain washing them and wiping their minds of their memories, hoping to remove Jesus from their minds, but it isn't working on the true believers - and these true believers want to know what is really going on in this facility.

This is a clean read with a good Christian message.

Great Christian Read

I found out about this book through Carolyn Bryant, the author's mother, and decided to read it for her. Good decision. I started reading and at first thought it was futuristic sci-fi, which I am not fond of, but it turned into so much more. I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, the story line and the author's writing style. God shines through this work. I will be awaiting her next one.

Reading a futuristic novel is outside the norm for me.

I enjoyed the story line and the friendships Ellie made while she was in training. Ellie and her friend group made a number of smart and brave decisions. Lots of twists unraveled throughout the novel.

My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

How does one withstand Governmental interference when it tries to destroy all presence of belief in God? This excellent question sets the theme for a sci-fi approach to coercion and torture against Christians. When young people disappear, where do they go? One young woman discovers that she has powers that allow her to resist the effects of torture, hypnosis and mind control devices. And she has every intention of escaping and revealing the warren of tunnels that hide the nefarious government facility hidden within the Colorado mountains.

Despite excellent characterization and a riveting premise, the second half of the book takes a dive into improbable action and contrived circumstances that leap beyond sci-fi into young fantasy. Also, the heavy use of scripture, while appropriately applied, should have been referenced in an index as few people quote chapter and verse in normal conversation and it halted the reader's attention to the plot.

intriguing in a futuristic sort of way.
Not necessarily my favorite or preferred genre, but enjoyable, nonetheless.
I found myself wanting to read quickly, to get to the bottom of what was happening.
The characters were a bit weak, but overall, the story was a great read.

Interesting concept. Not sure I agreed with a bunch of it and it was a way too compressed timeline. Could have done with being longer. Definitely needed another round of line editing, the dialogue was stiff as anything. However, I enjoyed it and I'd read another book by this author. Not sure if I'd reread. Maybe. There were also plot holes. Anyway, I did quite enjoy it - and the Amazon preview IS an excellent depiction of the book, if you like it I think you will like this book as a whole.

This is a debut for this author. It is set in the future and is very suspenseful and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I haven't read too many science fiction books but found this intriguing and scary as something like this I think could happen! One of my favorite characters was a little monkey that added some comical relief at some very intense parts. Can't wait to see what happens in book 2.

Truth in the Name was a captivating book that had me hooked from page 1! I don't normally read this genre so that is saying a lot! F.D. Adkins drew me in and made me feel like I was there with the characters; my heart was pounding at times with the suspense. There was just the right amount of humor and romance dispersed throughout and at just the right times to break up the intensity. This is a MUST READ & I've already begun sharing it with others!

Very plausible and chilling take on our near future.
In general 1st person present tense in a novel is sometimes awkward and difficult to read, but the author handled it well. (I prefer to write my stories in 3rd person past).
I couldn't put it down! Much more Christian, realistically, than most that a called "Christian fiction."
I look forward to the next book. Enthusiastically!

Ellie Hatcher was an ordinary college student one day then thrown into a secret life of training for a special crimes unit for the President the next day. But she quickly discovers that something just isn’t right. People are losing their memories.
As Ellie seeks out the truth, she finds herself racing against time to help save those she loves and the entire world.

Wow! What an action-packed page turner! If you ever read the Hunger Games books and enjoyed them, then you will enjoy this. Truly a Hunger Games feel with scriptural truth throughout. I never could guess what could be coming or happen next. The humor was strategically placed to alleviate the stress and sadness. The characters were well developed and engaging.
F.D. Adkins had my rapt attention from chapter 1. I could not put this book down! I look forward to reading the next one!
*I received a copy of this book in participation of a judging event in exchange for my honest review.*

This is a well-researched much prayed over book presenting a dystopian scenario we hope will never happen--except many of the details are already here. Perhaps written as a warning or wake-up call, I doubt anyone can read this without doing much deep-thinking and wondering about the role each of us can play in making sure this book remains fiction instead of any part of it becoming part of our nation's future history. It's Adkins first novel, and they are writing rough spots, but I recommend reading this. I've already downloaded Book 2 on my Kindle and am ready to start that book's journey. Thank you for your hard writing work, F.D. Adkins.
