Sixty years after the Fractals appeared in the sky, order is being carved out of chaos and Abbottstown is the new frontier for anyone looking to start over. People are thriving in this town on the fringes between dark and light territories, especially now that Ghost Crews have cleared out the local warlords.
The 444, a Ghost Crew that helped with the military campaign, stayed behind to keep the peace and help the people rebuild, and now the frontier is their home. There aren't any demons this far north and all the Abbotstown people know of Monstera is their reign of terror. For many in the frontier town, the soldiers are to be feared and steered clear of, with their hellfolk skin and animal parts.
But not everyone.
Ianthe Essex, the town apothecary and daughter of a Monstera, doesn’t see what the older set from town sees. She sees five strong, virile men that each star in her dreams and fantasies nightly…and daily. The 444 are a blessing to the town, providing enough stores for the whole settlement to prepare for their first fear-free winter, and she is utterly smitten with them.
She never thought they would feel the same. After all, they were here for a job.
Until a chance meeting in the woods, a few well-placed words and a kiss that stoked a fire that set her entire being burning. One man was hers for sure…but could she have them all?
Obsessed with Monsters is a GC story, but also the beginning of the Abbottstown Fractal New Frontier stories. If you like monsters, demons and a sassy, spunky heroine that knows what she wants, and gets it, this is a story for you.
I really hope Callie gets her own book soon. I laughed and felt all types of sexy with Ianthe as she went out and get her guys. You could feel the sexual tension throughout the entire book. All of the guys are special in their own way and I wish I had a harem of my own like hers.
Sixty years after the Fractals, (Fractals = when they came to Earth, they either killed off men, or changed them into monsters.), The Light Nations have gotten stronger, and they are starting to find peace wherever they can. Although each man that makes it through their transition are changed, and of different factions, one thing is always on their mind. To find their perfect one, the woman that will make them whole, whether they have to share or not. Ghost Crew 444 has been protecting the area above and around Abbottstown, and have a sense of accomplishment that they have found their home. Ianthe, Apothecarist, looks at the 444 as a challenge, and she’s not a wallflower about it. To find happiness with one man is her dream, can she make it happen with five?
I’m super happy with this story. I’m glad we get to go back to Abbottstown, the frontier location that gave GC 231 calm in the chaos surrounding the fight with the Fractals. Reverse Harem and Monster Romance mixed together to make a “fluffy” story is this reader’s happy spot and makes for some great escapism. Reading what you want, when you want, and how you want has always been my motto, and this story points in the right direction for me.
This book (as well as #5) felt like someone else wrote it compared to the first three books. None of the characters had depth. Characters were just thrown in without being fleshed out or central to the story like we we supposed to already know them. This was mostly 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (which lacked the imagination of the first three books in that department too) but, I know for me, I want to know the characters, their personalities, backgrounds. There was very minimal of that. It was there in some cases but just surface level, not enough to hook you into the storyline (which in this book was weak at best).
I love this series. No, I freaking LOVE this series.
Every book is an instant pre-order. Because no matter if the characters/groups are different, the world-building is compelling, the protagonists are real - we absolutely sympathise with these monsters who were once men.
The authors explore a little into a future world while commenting on the relationship between men and women as genders (and others on the rainbow spectrum), with it all feeling surprisingly natural. The 'next stage in evolution', but in a very different manner to the X-Men. This is about human connection.
This isn't p*rn. This isn't hentai. This is love, and I am absolutely here for it.
It isn't as hard-core as other GC books but it was just what the heroine needed. Still great sexy parts but sweeter. Loved it and can't wait to see what else is to come from this series.
