What he did was unforgivable and if he wants me, he better get ready to grovel.
Lucian
I value one thing above all else: redeeming my family’s legacy within my mafia clan. I do everything right. I’ve almost solidified my position as our next consigliere. I intend to marry a clan princess. There’s only one barrier in my plan of domination.
I must graduate high school.
To do that, I need a tutor.
My boss chooses the girl I’ve bullied off and on for years. But what begins as an unavoidable chore becomes my greatest distraction.
Star
I’ve pined after Lucian for years, even with the way he treats me. I only balk at becoming his tutor because I secretly crave him.
Call me a glutton for punishment.
Turns out, even I have my limits.
Lucian is an active participant in my greatest humiliation. He seems remorseful. For the first time, he seeks me out.
But it’s too late.
Apologize. Beg. Crawl.
I don’t care.
I can never forgive him.
Content warning:
Unforgivable can be read as a standalone and is the first installment of The Empire Academy Series. Lucian is an OTT possessive morally gray hero who doesn’t know what he wants until it’s too late. Get ready for a dirty-talking bully, a long grovel, and plenty of praise when he finally gets her where he wants her. Where is that, you ask? In his arms, of course. If such material offends, please do not read.
Growing up in New York City, I used to walk the hot pavements in the melting heat of the long summers, and dream. Uptown to downtown, eastside to the westside, and underground to catch a subway racing out into the boroughs.
During my wanderings, my magic pencil spun out fantasies full of romance, with first meetings, heartbreaks, and reunions. Sometimes my boy crush (unrequited, of course) starred as the hero.
I grew up, and after a stint in art school, became a lawyer ‘cuz a woman’s got to make a living. I came from parents who fled to France as refugees, and as an attorney, I dedicated my work to helping survivors of trauma and persecution.
I believe in them. In their grit, in their determination to hold on, to pull through and, somehow, someway, to keep themselves intact, body and soul.
Perhaps that is why I am drawn to writing stories of men and women who live through heart-rending pain, desperate yearnings and, ultimately, reach a place of redemption.
For a long time, I fought the urge to veer off the expected, safe path until I couldn’t go on unless I took a chance and made a change. I began to write, stopped, and began again. Finally, I gave in and here I am. Come join me on my journey…
I don’t know if i should continue reading this book because the beginning of the book it doesn’t look good to me… It looks chaos and not in a great way like Rina kent books kinda chaos, but this book right here looks like a CHILDISH NONSENSE CHAOS…. Which is exhausting and no need for that kinda drama in my head now🥵
It starts with the hero bullying the heroine as a kid, so it starts with them know each other since they were kids… Since they were children, both of them born with a mafia family and the hero already likes to touch the heroine in a normal way okay. Not in a weird way… It also shows that the hero likes to bully the heroine physically since he was ten years old. FAST FORWARD they were 19 years old like years goes by, and the hero fvcked many woman, THE HEROINE KNOWS ALL ABOUT THAT and that always breaks her heart, and the hero always have many woman kissing him in front of the heroine. But also in the end the heroine knows that the hero fvcks many woman, the hero said that to himself as well. SO GROWING UP, the heroine and hero liked each other since kids but didn’t actually in a official relationship from they were kids till 19 years old. And 19 years old, the hero already been arranged by his family to marry someone else.
SEE WHAT I MEAN? IT’S CHAOS IN A RIDICULOUS WAY EVER AND VERY CHILDISH…. I can smell a headache when I read the beginning of this book🤢
And if the hero really wants the heroine, he should really pursue her in a young age like way before they’re 19 years old. But nooooo…. he let himself fvcks many woman.
I like it when a hero already is with the heroine and not have to see him with anyone else especially in the beginning of the book. The book says that the hero is OTT POSSESSIVE but when the hero already fvcks many woman, fvck that possessive. Sorry book but even though i love drama, i don’t like childish unnecessary drama especially with characters like that. I will save myself from a headache 😬
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I’m writing my disclaimer again here cause many negative people still don't get it or still be stupid enough not to understand my POV when I already write it so many times before. So here I am writing it again to you beautifuls human being😁😁 WHEN YOU READ MY LONG OR SHORT REVIEW, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A STORY AND CHARACTERS RIGHT... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN HERE IT IS: I LIKE A BOOK WITH VERY POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE, NO CHEATING, AND PLEASE NO MANWHOR3, NO MANY PUSHING AWAY, NO DOORMAT HEROINES, NO MANY OW DRAMA, NO S3X SCENE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AND SAFE ALL THE WAY AND A HAPPY ENDING. Something that I don't like it very much if the hero or heroine have a crazy fvcked up personality and likes. Example: killing someone and let the heroine watch it all and push the heroine to lick all the blood of his victim and made her have to eat the meat of humans. and fvcks many woman in front of the heroine while telling her he loves her. I DON'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF SH*T AT ALL. That's just who I am, that's what I like and I don't like on a book. Maybe you love that, but I don't. We humans are different, we think very differently from one another. You have your likes and I have mine, you have your opinions and I have mine of my own. You think it's stupid of me to love such a book or to not love a book or to hate it whatever lol, I think it's bad you think that way cause I respect people's opinions cause I know for a fact we have our differences. YOU AND ME ARE DIFFERENT FOR PETE'S SAKE. I even have my own friends or people I follow here that shows how much they don't like the book I like, I never even give them a long comment or short Comment. Cause I respect their opinions. I don't like to give people I hard time here cause life itself is already hard enough. I do respect your opinion if you say my review is bad or whatever negative things about it, but in the end of the day I will not changed my mind about what book I dislike and how my thoughts about it. You can't tell me what to do. You can give me advice but it's me who decided to know what's right for me, this is my life and not yours. Read that again. Don’t assume things about me that is not even real, just don’t. cause when you do you’re more small minded for sure. You're thinking why I'm telling you all of this when you already know? Is because you still hating on my opinions and don't understand my POV and don't respect my POV. You think i like writing this disclaimer when obviously you're an adult already? no i personally think this is unnecessary... but because there are people out there who still don't get it *rolling my eyes*. Hopefully they or the people who read this disclaimer can use a beautiful thing called a brain:) AND WHEN YOU READ MY REVIEW, READ IT VERY CLEARLY TO SEE IF I FINISHED THE BOOK OR NOT. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AND YES ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M WRITING, THEN IT MEANS YOU UNDERSTAND IT ENOUGH. I DO NOT TOLERATE BULLYING, NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND MEAN WORDS. PLEASE USE A WISE WORDS SO WE DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER. SIMPLY, I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE AN ARGUMENT WITH STRANGERS LIKE YOU CAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO😚 BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE AMBER HEARD KARENS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND MY DISCLAIMER AFTER I JUST WRITE IT DOWN, THEN GO ENJOY YOUR DAY AND GO AWAY. IT'S VERY EASY FOR A HUMAN COULD DO YA KNOW. IF YOU STILL HERE HATING ME OR ANNOYED WITH ME, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. NOT ME PROBLEM. HASHTAGS BURN😂😂 DON'T TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY ON ONLINE CAUSE WE ALL A STRANGERS, WE NEVER EVER MEET. WE'RE ADULTS HERE SO LETS BE WISER. LAST, I BLOCK NEGATIVE PEOPLE! SO GET WELL SOON TO THE HATERS. HOPEFULLY YOUR HEART AND MIND WILL BE MORE POSITIVE 🙏🙏🙏 AND THIS DISCLAIMER MAY SEEMS LIKE TOO HARSH ON YOU BUT HEY I DON'T LIKE TO SUGAR COATED THINGS. I LIKE TO SAY TO THE POINT WITH MY UNDERSTANDING AND MY OWN THOUGHTS, CAUSE THAT'S HOW HUMANS ARE. WE ARE DIFFERENT REMEMBER👍 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
I found this book, because it was advertised in same FB book groups that i was. Author says no betraying body syndrome and whole book is grovel. I dont know what is wrong, but my standards are WAY different. Hs fiance beats h up in caffeteria early in the book. H does not help h and even says mean things. That is the "line he grossed". h is tired of their bully games and over it.... BUT even limping away bloody and tootles she cant help but to check H out.
Then when she is mad and supposed grovel starts - mega BBS. Whole book is her having bbs and giving in to H , and then being mad again after O-s. Like they make up and grope, lick and stuff from page 50 or so. All during "grovel". page 100 and omg... this girl has no control over her body. Then H licks her kitty. Page 123 and she gives HIM bj. Where is my grovel 😭 and few pages more they sex. He takes her V. Wth? There has been no grovel. H has some inner turmoil about that caffeteria drama, but at the same time has NOT apologized to h. Like why advertise book as major grovel book, when there is only some regret on H part, but def no grovel yet... And WHY, HOW can h just fuck him? No condom? So fast? She was supposed to be mad 19y H wants to breed ans trap h. He goes to his boss and says he deflowered h and has to now marry her.
Heroine pushes away until end of book. Like last chapter before epilogue she still pushes away, tries to run away and acts super naive about outside dangers.
Endless push-pull on h part, most of it foreplay as she gets off being bullied. not a grovel book for me.

This was my first Monique Moreau story and I absolutely loved it! Well written and emotionally charged, I was completely hooked from page one. I think it would have been more "realistic" if they were college age, but it didn't bother me so much as to detract from the story. The bully scenes were intense and painful to read. The chemistry between the two MCs was 5 alarm and I was great ful we got the dual perspective to better understand both their complicated past and the bullying. If you're a fan of a good grovel and grand gesture, Unforgivable will definitely hit the spot! I can't wait to read the next story and I'll definitely be taking a peak at Ms. Moreau's backlog.
I was really looking forward to Star's book after I read her brother Tatum's book, THE PERFECT HEIR, but I'll be honest and say that I didn't see a High School Bully Romance in the future for her. I mistakenly thought she would be married off to a Lupu family member but oh how wrong I was.
Lucian is one of those morally gray characters that many hate to love because what he does is so wrong but then he does something that makes you swoon and forgive him. He has bullied Star for YEARS and through it all Star still had a huge crush on him, until things went too far one day and she was totally humiliated....bye bye crush hello hatred. Unfortunately for both Star and Lucian they have to make nice and work with one another to ensure that Lucian graduates or things will really get ugly.
While I enjoyed this story there were times I wanted to reach through my kindle and smack Lucian upside the head to make him realize what he was doing. There are a few twists throughout the story the biggest one would be something that Lucian puts into motion himself.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy STEAMY Bully Romances, New Adult Romances, Organized Crime Romances or High School Romances.
I was given this ARC by the author for my honest review. I loved it, I have been really busy lately, so I couldn't wait to get back into it. It's your classic HS bully romance where it begins from innocent childhood playground bullying and progresses into HS angst steamy bullying. FMC & MMC are from rival mafia clans. Tropes: mafia/bully/enemies to lovers/forced proximity/forbidden love Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 HEA
I bought this book because the author advertised it in a facebook group as being mafia/bully/forced proximity/long grovel. I LOVE a good grovel. I especially love a bully romance with a good long grovel. Unfortunately, this was not a long grovel. It was more of a gr. It was so short and meaningless it doesn’t even warrant the full word. Don’t tell me there’s a long grovel and then deliver a grovel so small I need a microscope to see it.
Lucian has bullied Star since they were kids and now they are in high school and he is in danger of not graduating because his grades are so bad. His mafia boss gets a tutor for him and it’s Star, the girl he has always bullied. She agrees to tutor him because the mafia boss basically threatens her and then Lucian flakes on her and when she tries to remind him they need to meet for the tutoring sessions he lets his almost-fiancée and head mean girl bully and beat up Star. He looks on and calls her disgusting.
I was excited at this point because I thought I’d start seeing the grovel but NOPE. She goes back to tutoring him without him even apologizing to her. All she does is have him promise he will help her escape the mafia life after graduation. LAME. I should have stopped but I kept reading because I thought the grovel was coming and it would be delicious. See, I feel like, the meaner the bully is the bigger the grovel has to be to make reading all the bullying and angst worth it. If it isn’t then I feel cheated.
So, they do the deed at some point because of all the alleged sexual tension that has been brewing for years and he later decides he loves her and must marry her. So, he just declares he’s gonna marry her and expects her to fall at his feet out of gratitude. Thankfully, she didn’t because she doesn’t really think he loves her because she thinks she’s worthless. So, you’d think the dude would reevaluate and try to do stuff to convince her of his love and that he actually does care for her but NOPE. He tries to sex her into it and then tries to boss her around because he’s the big man and knows best and she just lets him because she’s too overwhelmed by things.
There are a couple of times he says he’s sorry for bullying her but honestly, I didn’t believe a word of it. Words are meaningless when not backed up by actions. He never makes any changes or sacrifices to show his remorse for how he treated her so it’s kinda hard to believe him. And you’d think that after letting his girlfriend/mean girl humiliate the heroine he’d make a grand gesture to make up for it but nope. Nothing. Saying sorry a couple of times and then intimidating and bullying the heroine into marrying you is not a grovel. Not even close.
I might have enjoyed this book of the author hadn’t described it as having a “long grovel.” The writing was decent but I honestly didn’t particularly care about the characters and the heroine started to get on my nerves with how weak she was and how little she thought of herself and how easily she caved to the hero.
Anyway, I won’t be reading another book by this author because I don’t like being misled.
This is a definite bully romance. This book is so good, it just sucks you in from the beginning. Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading. I love that you get Lucian’s point of view. It really helped you understand him. I loved Lucian and Star together, but he had his hands full with her. Definitely read Chosen Heir first and the others in that series to truly understand who and what they are talking about. I can’t wait for Crina’s book.
Love the world this author has created! This is the first book from this author that I’ve read - I think 😂.
I’m not really into the mafia genre and though I have read a few here and there, this is the first one that actually made me question - “Do I have the chops to make it as a mafia queen?”
Unforgivable is the first installment in the Empire Academy Series and a spin-off of Monique Moreau's The Lupu Chronicles. It can be read as a standalone, but probably best enjoyed after reading the author's previous work in the Romanian Mafie.
It started chaotic, furious and noisy like a good bully romance and the first half was my favourite part. The bullying was as real as the scenario, even though the reasons were a bit falible. I liked their internal turmoil and conflicting thoughts, although I had expected Star to be more hurt from Lucian acts and words than she was and I enjoyed it better tor that tiny spec of angst created by the fact that Lucian liked Star a lot, desired her a lot, but wouldn't think of transforming his future to include her.
What didn't work for me has nothing to do with the writting, rathar with the execution of certain matters. For an Academy romance, we see very little of the place and most of the tale outside that same space. Then there were times when I thought that we were dealing with 18 year olders, perfectly adequate, and other, where it felt they were around 27/28, mostly by the description of business performance. I don't really know the specifics of Romanian mafia, but being consilier at 19 is a bit farfetched. It takes time, saviness of experience, business and the 'life' maturity and tons of baggage. For a young man finishing high school, I knew he would be involved in the business, but there are no amount of hours in a day for him to carry the responsibility he did. I would understand if he was involved along others with experience to learn the ropes and get prepared. Another thing was that I, in the second half of the story, started losing faith in their actions, reactions, feelings and decisions and what happened in the train felt predictable and contrived. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their tale, their incandescent & kinky trysts and absolutely cherished their love, but consistency where it mattered would have given potencial to the narrative and made it great.
An emotional, gritty spin-off from The Lupu Chronicles series! I was quickly intrigued by the younger set of the Popescu and Lupu clan members. As a fan of the previous series, I knew the background and understood the setting going in, but if you are starting off with the Empire Academy as your first introduction to this world, the story is lacking some development. More history on Tatum's story and even a bit on Lucian's family prior would have cleared up a bit of the confusion that a new reader will more than likely feel coming in as a newbie. I personally enjoyed their story and the nod to the past and am looking forward to more to come in this new series.
Lucian is a bit of a sanctimonious bully, but he has a clear weakness for Star and likes her way more than he ever intended. I enjoyed seeing him taken down a notch or two as he had to learn to be the man she expected.
Starlene is sweet and sincere and tempted to no end for this man child that wants her to hand over her heart.
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a coming of age storyline involving mafia born young adults finding their way in the trials of their lifestyle. The characters are addictive and the drama is high.
Star has suffered his bullying all through school. She's a nerd, desperate to get away from the Romanian Mafie life, and the indignities he has put her through just keep piling up. Now his Sef wants her to tutor him so he can graduate. Lucian doesn't want a tutor. He doesn't really care about school, and choosing Star, who he hates, doesn't help. Except, he doesn't really hate her. Can he have her and satisfy his ambitions too? Will she have to give up on her dreams? HEA guaranteed
Monique Moreau is a master storyteller. Bully romances aren't something I usually enjoy, but this one? Oh wow. Intense is the most apt word I can come up with. Well written, Unforgivable has characters who have been dealt a tough hand, but have overcome it. Both are damaged but not broken, and when they finally come together is is a thing of beauty. Star's determination and grit are a testimony to her strength, and in the end, Lucian wants to give her the world, and not break her. Like I said, beautifully intense. This is absolutely worth the one click, and not to be missed. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series with bated breath.
I received a free ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
For some reason I read the blurb and thought "forget my tbr, I am reading this book now". The first couple of chapters put me off, I thought it was a dark college romance and instead it was a dark high school romance. These 18-year-olds were living life like 30-year-olds, but it made sense. I mean, they were mafia princes and princesses! I am sure they wouldn't have an everyday life, and that made sense in the plot's setting. Actually, Lucian is 18 y/o and he is already running for the place of "consigliere" which basically is the right hand of the Boss.
So Lucian is a dirty-talking bully who has had the hots for Star since they were kids. Star is a regular kid, or at least she tries. Life had dealt her a bad hand - she is alone and she is the only one that can count on. That is until the Boss asks Star to tutor Lucian in school so he can graduate. All is good until Lucian betrays her and humiliates her in front of the whole school.
Star is no doormat heroine. No! she makes him work for it and actually hates him at the beginning. As I said, I really liked it! But go in with an open mind - I think if these characters were in their 30s or something like that the story would have been more believable. But these kids are Mafia Kids, everything they do is hardcore.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "UNFORGIVABLE" I was totally invested in this new series The Empire Academy it sucks you right in its a Dark Mafia Romance with bullying, angst, a little suspense, intrigue, steam, frustration, you can't put down its a page turner to the the end. Star has had an attraction to Lucian for years even though he treats her like crap he's arrogant, gorgeous, humiliates her whenever he wants but she still craves him. Lucian is all the redeeming his family legacy within the Mafia Clan he's almost solidified his position as their next Consigliere, he intends to marry a Clan princess but be has to graduate highschool & to do that he needs a tutor his boss choose the one gurl he's bullied for years off & on she becomes his greatest distraction. I definitely recommend to get this well written Mafia Romance it won't disappoint will Star forgive Lucien for everything he's done to her he seems remorseful but she had enough doesn't care anymore, can he change her mind, can they their HEA its a must to find out. I live this new series do far I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series can't come soon enough. AWESOME READ!!!!!
Lucien and Star have never gotten along since they were kids, with Lucien being Star’s personal bully. But we also see there are shared moments between them where all animosity falls away and they see a more vulnerable side. With this push and pull between them and them being quite stubborn (more so with Lucien about his denial and possessiveness and Star with her fear of being hurt), we wonder how/when they will finally achieve their HEA. We definitely have to be patient as they try to battle each other and their feelings and try to figure out how to move past certain things, even though we do see they have chemistry. Star and Lucien also have their personal struggles to contend with. And along with that is an external threat and what it means for our characters. Indeed, we are in for a tension-filled ride with these two! Additionally, I thought the writing flowed well and while I did think the ending was a bit abrupt with some threads still open for more, I thought this was still an entertaining story. We also get hints of Carina & Marku’s and Anton & Gabby’s stories, which I can’t wait to read too.
Lucian is 19 years old, belongs to a Romanian mafia family and determined to get to the top. He is, and has been difficult and bulling from an early age. His arrogance and attitude match his behaviour. Star belongs to an opposite family, is a school nerd and tries to hide and stay in the background. She is thrust to the fore when commanded to tutor Lucian, the early years tormentor. I didn't like either character. They are both weak in certain ways, despite them considering they are strong. The theme seemed teenage bully and downtrodden victim, set against individual dreams of bigger and better. It seemed childish and contrived, two late teens trying to act like responsible adults, each with plenty to prove and not really getting there. Not a fan of teenage angst and coupled with bratva theme hasn't been an easy read. It did not engage me and I skipped over various parts. Others may disagree; no doubt there will be higher reviews..depends on your reading preference.
• Mafia (very very basic) • Bully romance • Boy obsessed • High school setting
This book was recommended in a FB group where we talk about betrayals and grovels done by the characters. For me, there are equal number of things I liked and disliked.
The blurb is AMAZING, so amazing that even though I was in the mood to read a fluffy romcom, I read this dark bully romance for the angst and grovel.
There are many scenes which are fun, light hearted and show a different side of their relationship but at the same time the scene which is the "betrayal scene" definitely hits hard. The push and pull is undeniable and his thoughts are all about her, to f*ck, marry or kill depending upon the situation 😂
Did he grovel? Yes. But did I want him on his knees in the school corridor asking for forgiveness/ professing his love? YES. Did he do that? No :( Why? Because here the mafia men don't show weakness and being on his knees would mean otherwise. The mafia thinking is very backward here.
This is the first book in the Empire Academy series and it is a high school mafia bully romance. Star is a bright young woman who has had to endure so much as she struggles to deal with the school’s hierarchy and lack of a family life. Lucian is the big man on campus. He is diligently working to ensure his place in the family with a take no prisoners attitude. However, his schoolwork is sliding and forces him in close contact with the woman, Star, that distracts him to no end as she becomes his tutor. Overall, this is a well written storyline but did not have the same punch as some of the author’s other stories. There was just something missing that I could not put my finger on. The drama and teenage emotions were all there and the pages kept turning because you just have to see how this plays out. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
3.5 Stars ~ I find it hard to get into high school/academy books and series. The leads in this book both felt immature (because they are teenagers) and annoying. There really isn’t much of a grovel after some epically crappy behavior from Lucian. I do enjoy a good bully and enemies to lovers troupe, and this book had fantastic writing and lots angst. Star is supposed to be too smart to be a doormat, and tough in her own way. But she ends up caving to Lucian wayyyy to early in the book and overall she’s just walked all over. She didn’t impress me. The steam level in this book is great and I’m enjoying the start of the new series.
Is it just me? Or did you too feel like you were reading #pandemictrash? Or maybe it was AI generated? But the whole thing was a cluster mess of apocalyptic proportion. The grammatical errors, the stupid, nonsensical names for the “groups.” WTH is a clan? Are they blue hillbillies living deep in the Kentucky Hollers? Omg, I do not have the energy, nor the inclination to get into the silly af characters, the obviously missing pieces to the story that is SUPPOSED to #1 in the series…arrrhhh…I’m going for a walk, I need to rub sunshine on my face to wash off the deep seeded depression this dumpster fire imposed.
This is a new to me author and not sure if this was her first book or not but she shows promise! The bully aspect was okay, the scene between the girls in the cafeteria was WAY brutal and O agree with many other reviews. He was NOT made to grovel or really apologized at all. The push and pull between them MMC & MFC was mild at best. I CAN see Monique Moreau turning into a power house though! She has the bases for a good novel here. All in all a fun little read that felt a little YA but still pretty darned good!
Star has been in love with Lucien forever! Lucien is nothing but a bully who seems to enjoy hurting her…until he doesn’t. Now he wants Star as his, no matter what.
An enjoyable read. It’s a bit difficult to accept that teenagers are killing at 13 years of age, getting married right out of high school, but the story is great! Loved the characters. Loved Lucien even though he does come off as a cocky a*&$hole! And the cafeteria scene definitely shows you what a prick he is to her. Still I loved it! Well worth the read!
Fast pace full of high school drama. One scene, cafeteria, you feel Star pain. Lucian knew Star was “his” from kindergarten. But circumstances took them in separate ways. He’s soon the be consiller to Cristo (from “Chosen Heir”). Great read but start with “Chosen Heir” to get a good understanding of the characters. Can not for Crina and Marku book. I received this voluntarily book for my a honest review.
Let me first start by saying that I despise bullies and that all Lucian is. He's nothing but a worthless high school punk who doesn't want to do the work to graduate by himself and he's so lazy he needs Star to tutor him. While I loved Star and really felt sorry for her, I couldn't find it in me to like Lucian at all. To me he had no redeemable qualities and that totally turns me off when I'm reading. I received an advanced copy and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
Book one in the Empire Academy Series. Lucian is the next consigliere. Or he thinks unless he gets a tutor and graduate high school. Star is his tutor she’s had a small crush on his all her life. He humiliated her one last time. Now he need her help but she has conditions help her leave everything behind. He need her help. The problem he never imagined she would bring him to his knees. Go star !!!
First book from this author, and it was a great read. Loved the bully aspect and a slightly different take on the mafia vibe. I would have loved the ending to have been drawn out a little, I wish he hadn't found Star so quickly and that whole scenario wS draw out.. maybe she was properly kidnapped? Ill be looking forward to the next book, i want Marku to go absolutely mad when he finds out Carina isn't a V 🤣🤣🤣 I need that in my life.
Love Lucien and Stars story. Though as a child Lucien is Stars bully the feelings have always been there. As young adults things don’t seem much better. Until Lucien admits some truths to himself. Getting Star to see him is a bit harder. If they could just get on the same page both their dreams could come true!
This bully romance is fast paced and intense. Lucian and Star had some moments where I was really rooting for them, but some moments where I wished Star would just move on. I had a hard time getting into the story as I didn't really like the two main characters. I felt like Star forgave Lucian too easily and Lucian definitely didn't grovel enough for me. Overall this is okay read.
