I’m trapped on a volcanic planet with a surly alien who thinks I’m his for the taking. What could go wrong with that?
After losing my job as a space pilot, I’m short on cash. That’s when I’m hired to fly a visiting diplomat back to his home planet. His name’s Vexion, but I call him Vex, because he’s a grumpy brute, and every time he opens his mouth, he says something that makes flames lick across my bones. Unfortunately, whenever I’m near him, my knees melt.
When our escape pod crashes us in the path of an erupting volcano, we have to find a way to survive together. Our snippy bickering soon sparks heat of a different kind, and it’s all I can do to resist him. I'm supposed to escort him, but it looks like I'm about to be escorted in an entirely different direction.
Escorting the Alien is a companion novella in the Beastly Alien Boss Series and offers hyjinks with a surly alien and a happily ever after.
AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
This novella was included in the audiobook with Nailing the Alien. I love it when you get a bonus like that, especially with audiobooks, since they are so expensive. This was a nice escapist alien romance with the two main characters, Lina and Vex ending up in an escape pod and landing on a dangerous planet where a volcano is erupting. Not only that, there were huge beasts and other dangers all around them.
Like with Nailing the Alien, this was narrated by Hollie Jackson and Patrick Zeller via dual narration. Hollie always does a great job and is very good at narrating alien romance. Patrick Zellar also did a terrific job, and though Vex wasn’t grumpy like the Orc in the first book, his deep voice lends itself well to the huge male alien character.
The story was good and I really liked the fact that they were on the run and waiting for their pods emergency beacon to hail a ship that would rescue them. While ash and lava endangered their lives. In between all that, it still got plenty steamy as well.
Steamy and fun survival novella with a grumpy /sunshine fated mated trope. With a feisty human female pilot and a grumpy alien diplomat. The ship malfunctions and they have to abandon the ship. The escape pods brings them to a volcanic planet in which they must work together to survive. I typically don't enjoy the instant love aspects of most novellas. But this one felt very believable due to the survival aspects of the story and that they are fated mates.
I enjoyed this alien-human, opposites attract, forced proximity romance with a side of danger. The story had a good blend of humor, love, banter, real life issues, danger, and spice. Lina is a human pilot who has abandonment issues. Vex is an alien diplomat from Osaria. Lina has been assigned to fly Vex back to Osaria. They are attracted to each other but also irritated by each other. When a meteor hits their ship, they are forced to use an escape pod and land on a planet to await rescue. Unfortunately, the “habitable” planet has an active volcano and large predators which complicates waiting for a rescue. To get to their HEA they’ll have to evade all the danger while trying to build their relationship at the same time. Despite being short, the novella was well written and included characters with dimension and an engaging storyline. 3.5 stars.
Lina and Vex had an interesting start. He was a diplomat heading home, and she was his replacement pilot. Sparks flew with this couple from the very start, and things just got hotter! When their ship gets hit by a meteor, they are forced to abandon ship, and they end up having to rely on each other for survival on a less than hospitable planet. I enjoyed their snarky banter, their spicy moments, and Vex trying to convince Lina she is his fated mate. This story had lots of action, and these two were evenly matched as warriors. I loved how they met Kreel from Nailing The Alien on their way to Vex’s home. Overall, a very quick, fun, read!
WoW!! Talk about ultimate love, survival, & sacrifice, I got so caught-up in the story I thought it just might be the end of them 🥺 Great writing, nice with the Wing-play😈 I would have liked to know how his family would have greeted/reacted to her😉 Interesting function of the mating knot💋💋💋💋💋

This was acquired during a summertime freebee event. But free or not, this was a great book: short and sweet (and very spicy). I liked other books by this author but hadn’t realized it was connected to Nailing the Alien until the end.
And actually, I think I preferred the character development of Escorting over that of Nailing, which I find surprising. The whole series is pretty easy and enjoyable. Excitement comes from external players/forces, but not a whole lot of interpersonal drama or angst found here.
Funny how placing yourself in dire straights of life and death and you find that the person you loath - is the one that you realize has your best interest at heart.
Vex and Lina reminded me of how most relationships start when you are enemies for no apparent reason. Survival for Lina and keeping respect for his people for Vex. When push came to shove, they realized they could only depend on each other and that kept them alive.
Vexion, Vex for short, is the diplomat that pilot Lina is flying back to his home planet. And, wouldn't you know it - proximity and snarky chemistry ignite a spark. A meteor hit, a crash landing, and a very volcanically active planet fan the flames, and another inter species fated mate romance takes off. Hostile critters, hungry cannibals, and other hazards add drama to the heat in a most enjoyable series starter.
This was an interesting tale. Vexion or Vex is a big softy. He just needed a pilot to fly him back home and got a mate too. Lina is a sassy human female that is perfect for Vex. They have a large huddle to overcome aka a volcano planet with its own inhabitants. This is a challenge in itself. To become mates along the way makes it a love story.
Vex and Lina go from one extreme to the next in this adventure! All this happens while they both realize they've been fighting the attraction they have for each other. They crash, are chased, hide, are captured, escape and almost lose it all. Lots of action, steam and a few laughs. Nice quick read for a rainy afternoon.
Lock Great character building. Even though it was a short story, the characters were interesting, well described, and their personalities clearly developed. The story itself was interesting and moved along quickly. The character at the end definitely made an impression that he had me running out to one click his book...so yay!
A sweet quick SciFi romance, with a snarky, independant female pilot, and a grumpy alien ambassador. Their bad attitudes come from denying their mutual attraction. When they crash on a nearby planet, it's not just the volcano that heats up!
Vex is a diplomat and Lina is the pilot for his tour. While at first they seem ill suited, there’s a spark that turns into something almost as incendiary as the volcano they must contend with after they make an emergency landing.
This story is the prequel to the series. A spaceship is hit by a meteor and the pilot and passenger are forced to abandon ship. What follows is a cute quick read filled with witty banter and smolder.
Great storyline, it's well written and the characters are entertaining. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
Short, fluffy and lighthearted read. Low on the plot, heavy on the smut! Narrator Hollie Jackson never fails to deliver! This was a perfect pallet cleanser.
