Is one normal date asking too much?

At 28, Chuli Davis has manifested a perfectly adequate life for herself. But when a New Year's Eve first date turns sour, she’s rescued by a mysterious whispering hero who claims he's not human. She'll need to rely on her mythology degree in ways she never imagined if she wants to stay sane and get out of the crosshairs of whomever—or whatever!—is after her. She'll also need all the patience she can muster to deal with her new infuriatingly gorgeous coworker.

Ram is bossy, gruff, and rude, but despite her boss's warnings, Chuli's inner mechanic—not to be confused with her inner fun-sucker—can't help but want to fix something as broken as him, and maybe discover what dark secrets he might be hiding—as long as she can be certain he's not the one after her.

Save the woman, save his soul?

Going undercover to capture a nefarious god should have been a simple assignment for a skilled High Order agent like Ram. But his new coworker has complicated EVERYTHING. She's beautiful, courageous, and apparently entirely oblivious to the world around her, as if she were nothing but a mere human!

Now he finds himself fighting to help protect her future and keep her safe while still drowning in guilt from his own past mistakes. Can Chuli help redeem him, or is he doomed to continue to carry heavy emotional baggage his entire immortal life?

Hi! I'm Sara Ruch. It rhymes with book. How convenient. ;) I started out in the world of non-fiction, writing freelance articles for Organic Gardening and PHS magazine. A career highlight for me was an activity packet that was distributed in children's Easter baskets at the White House.

These were satisfying endeavors, but I always dreamed of a day when I could craft my own stories. I'm excited to share my fictional debut series, Dispatches from Upstairs, with you. It's a blending of what I love most as a reader: world building, epic tales, supernatural beings, myths and religions, mysteries, relatable characters, and most especially, beautiful romance. All these things came together in a way that I'm proud of, and I hope you love it!

I loved it!! I adore urban fantasy & books that incorporate mythology into our world are just so wonderfully unique. That mixed in with building mystery & romance makes this such a fun book that I couldn’t put down. I love the characters & the detail the author took in creating them. I can’t wait for book 2!!

Wow! Why did it take me so long to read this!? Sara Ruch is a natural storyteller and I was so quickly sucked into this story. It’s faced paced, fun, and has all the right ingredients for a new favorite! I absolutely loved the romance element and I felt that there were so many little details Ruch managed to weave perfectly into this narrative *chefs kiss.* You’ll want to read this one.

3.5 stars....I found this one on one of my free book sites and it's been hanging out on my kindle for a good while and finally decided to read it. It's the first in a trilogy I believe and I enjoyed it. I liked the premise that gods can come down to earth and wear mortal suits for a while. I liked the characters and the storyline. I will probably continue on with the series especially since it left me on a cliffhanger! This story had gods/goddesses, poisoning, secrets, heartache, love, loss, mystery a little spice at the end and a cliffhanger. It was a short read but intriguing.
