Great book, loved it. Went in with low hopes following the bad reviews I’d read, but it exceeded my expectations.
It’s very genuine and smooth, some things do get repetitive but I feel like it adds to the essence of the book, the parts that were written twice did not make the reading worse but actually emphasized on the living experience.
A great man battling a great sickness. Towards the end he is very reflective and raw and vulnerable, which I admired.
It’s very hard knowing that he died after reaching a point where he quit every drug, including cigarettes, and in which he was longing to live a long life, I wonder if he fell in love within the time between the release of the book and his death. I wish he could have his little kids he so much wanted.
I will never watch friends the same again knowing all he was going through at the time, but I am eager to rewatch friends knowing all the small nuances that were told in the book.
It also gave me a different perspectives of approaching addicts. We have been told time and time again that they are not worthy of treatment and that they have inflicted pain upon themselves.
But no one gave up on Perry, is it because he was rich and famous ?
No one deserves to be abandoned by society.
**on a different note: first book read on my new kindle :) amazing experience 10/10 would recommend!
