This is an Excellent Children’s Book to Start Them Thinking About Stem Careers

The author of this book use a classroom model with children with many diverse backgrounds and divorce traits

She skillful uses the diverse traits to find which stem career would be best for them. After having each child go through what they feel is one of their strong traits she then ask them and tell them what stem career they might be qualified for based on the strong trait that they possess.

This is the way of making other students who are reading this book who may find themselves having similar traits to some of the students in her class think about the career that she has suggested.

In the next section of her book, she lists some 20 odd stem careers, alphabetically for children to pick from and to think about.

The book ends WordSearch puzzle for stem careers. This is an excellent book to have children start thinking about careers probably best design for children who are between 10 and 14 years of age.

Could Be Used In Classrooms

A short, informative book that I could see being used in classrooms to introduce diversity, emotional learning, and STEM career fields to students.

The setting of a classroom makes the content more readily relatable to students. The book introduces various careers, as well as connects how certain career fields could work together. The book is an example of imagining yourself in STEM and building confidence that it’s possible for individuals with diverse backgrounds/interests to succeed in STEM careers. This could spark little ones to relate to and pursue careers they may not have previously considered.

This book could easily be paired with a career day or similarly themed activities in classrooms.

This book is a well-written, easy-to-understand story about what STEM is, the types of careers in this field, and the types of personality traits one needs to have to succeed at them. The story of the children and the teacher helping them identify STEM careers they'd be suited for show there are many opportunities suited for diverse personalities and skills. This book is well-suited for the targeted age group and will inspire children to identify their own career paths in STEM.

very informative

This book helps to remind children that their classmates come from different cultures and have different strengths and skills sets that can set them up for alternate STEM careers. Someone who’s quiet and organized might make a great lab manager. We all have our roles to play to make STEM successful.

Good for inspiring young minds

Uplifting, easy-to-read book that introduces children to science, technology, engineering, and math. Specifically, it uses illustrations, and stories to explore different potential STEM careers.

It’s an educational and empowering book that breaks down complex ideas into an engaging, accessible format. Great stuff.

Good Concept

Overall, I really enjoyed the concept and idea behind the book. The story itself is okay. It’s more of a list of individuals and their personalities and then showing where they might fit in a STEM career.

Good resource

Diversed in Stem is a good resource for classroom and school library. It would be a helpful discussion starter for a lesson on STEM subjects and the areas associated. Has a word search activity included.

great book

I enjoyed reading this myself and I’m about 40 years too old. It delivers on what it promises: representation, encouragement, belief in possibility.
