Tragedy strikes, leaving Ephraim the sole parent of his son and stepson. Despite his grief, he should be able to manage with his job and his parent’s help. His lover, Levi, says he’ll be a good Daddy since nurturing seems to come naturally to him.

When it gets out that Ephraim is gay, no one in the town thinks he should raise his children. Everyone knows his almost-marriage was only because of the accidental baby, but with him and his lover being outed, they now think it’s best if he loses his kids. If someone has their way, he won’t even be permitted visitation. Faced with the abusive Pastor possibly raising his boys, Ephraim takes his children and flees with Levi.

Ephraim could still lose his little family if the mercenaries hired by the Pastor find them. Their only option is to go to Castle Town, petition King Jack, and pray that he understands their circumstances. If Ephraim and Levi are granted his protection, they’ll be able to find a place to settle, work, and raise their two boys

The mercenaries only care about their pay, and if killing their prey is easier, they’ll do anything to keep Ephraim and his family from reaching the Castle.

Promises is a friends-to-lovers, found family MM romance about two men growing together, privately exploring their desires, and raising a family together. It is intended for mature readers only.

This includes a bonus short story about how Ephraim and Levi came together after years of friendship.

At first, I didn’t realize it was a medieval story, so everything felt hugely strange. I stopped reading but started again, with a different mindset, which worked better.

Ephraim and Levi are already a couple even if it’s secretly. After Ephraim had one drunk night everything changed.
What I didn’t expect, all different sides were extremely mellow and okay with what happened. It was quite an odd situation, to be honest. There were agreements ugh, oh boy, just no!

Some disturbing things are happening! And one horrible Pastor, whose name I won’t use, made Ephraim run.
Ephraim ends up being a father and a stepfather, with Levi as part of his little family.
They got men on their heels who want to prevent them from reaching King Jack for a petition.
They have to run and fight for their lives.

It was an okay read, a bit loose here and there, the focus was on things I didn’t expect, and where I expected focus it didn’t happen. Ephraim and Levi exploring their kinky side was nice.
Looking back at the whole picture, it was entertaining, slightly developed, emotionally a bit on the flat side, and sometimes a bit rushed, but I had a nice time reading (after I realized it was a medieval story, lol)

I loved the premise of this story. Ephraim and Levi are already a couple when this starts, and I don't want to put spoily stuff in, but it was nice (and hot lol) watching them explore their kinks in bed.

When they suddenly have a family, the kids became their main focus, which is normal for parents, but Ephraim and Levi didn't forget about each other. It showed a healthy balance of kid/family life, and the adults having private time on the other side of the coin.
The tension and flow was great, the bit with the priest and what happens their made me tear up a bit because they deserved that.😊

Medieval BDSM

Promises is a story with a little something for most adult readers who want plenty of spice in their romance. The tropes include sexuality, cheating, loss, heartbreak, betrayal, love, and perseverance, with lots and lots of sex. Yet the prevalent storyline is the love story between Ephraim and Levi. Ephraim and Levi are the perfect balance for each other, but when one partner strays, the outcome is an unintended pregnancy. With a plan in place, Ephraim is prepared to marry young Renna until a tragic event sends Levi and Ephraim’s life on a different path. The author does a nice job delivering a story where love does conquer all.

This book is equal parts M/M BDSM sex, and a heartwarming story of family triumphing over all hardship. The fantasy world is much like ours, populated with people who are either accepting of homosexuality, or so threatened by it they are willing to go to great lengths to imprison, beat, or kill those who practice it; the youngest children of course are the victims. Well written and interesting: make sure you read the trigger warnings.

Interesting storyline

The author never cease to amaze me with her stories.
This one is also well written and well plotted.
The storyline grabbed my attention from the start.
Since it included male and female sex, and an unplanned pregnancy.
Although the author didn't go into details of what happened behind the bush.
Interesting book, but not if you're homophobic.

Loved how they worked stuff out and got through things, even the hard stuff.

The dynamic of these two was perfect. They made good parents, and great lovers. I liked how they explored and Levi took care of his "toy".
