Cordelia
Welcome to Winthrop, WA. Population: Screwed.
When I answered Deacon Cromwell's ad for an assistant, roughing it with a mountain man was not what I had in mind.
But I'll give anything a shot. Just so long as it doesn't shoot back.
When my grumpy new boss finds out he hired...well, me...all bets are off.
He's way too hot to handle.
And I'm dying to be handled.
If we don't kill each other first.
I mean, accidents happen in the wild all the time, right?!

Deacon
When I placed an ad for an assistant, I expected someone who knew about life in the mountains.
Instead, I got saddled with the prettiest little mess I've ever met.
Cordelia's mouth never stops moving, and the only thing hotter than that pink hair is her temper.
I have no business putting my filthy hands all over her, but she’s itching for someone to settle her down.
And it damn sure won't be anyone but me.
This hot mess is mine to tame.

Paul Bunyan, save me! This grumpy mountain man and his hot mess heroine are hot enough to start a forest fire. If you enjoy laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, hot mess heroines, and steamy romance, you'll love Cordy and Deacon!

3.5 ⭐️

Cordelia and the girls I her bookclub made a pack to do something they have never done before and Cordy plan is to be a assistant of a mountain
man because she's been afraid of the forest since she got lost in one years ago. And the first meeting between her and Deacon was funny she accidentally flashed him thanks to the wind and her dress. The chemistry between them is funny and cute he already smitten but he won't admit it just yet, he likes teasing her and wonders why she's doing this since she hates the forest.

When they both open up Cordelia is alittle scared since it's only 2 weeks he won't leave the mountains for her little did she know he would. And there is a tiny miscommunication but it's fixed asap.

I might read the other friends maybe lol.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, tiny secondary character, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhore

Embrace the crazy, it will definitely enhance your life!

Cordelia is a sassy, hilarious, slightly crazy, muttering to herself, gorgeous disaster waiting to happen. She may be a lot, but it's not too much, it's just right!
Deacon has been hiding from the world, avoiding people and escaping the crazy until the whirlwind that is Cordy crashes into his life and shows him just how good crazy can be!
She drags him back into the land of the living and has him craving more...
More sass...
More spanking...
More dirty talkin'....
More laughter....
More love....
More living and far more of Cordy's crazy.
A hilarious, slightly crazy, and very naughty addition to the Galentine's series which I read on Kindle Unlimited

Pretty Little Mess is part of the multi-author Galentines Chronicles. This is the first one of the group I have read as I have a tendency to start with whichever book Nichole wrote.

A great Grumpy/Sunshine pairing, these two were fun. Deacon and Cordelia are a wonderful fit with Cordelia straight up owning and being proud of her “messiness” and Deacon acknowledging that she’s perfect the way she is. I am never gonna be able to see the name Paul Bunyan again without chuckling.

Cordelia and Deacon’s story was great! The perfect amount of grumpy and sunshine that just paired so well together. She’s sassy and can’t stop talking, and he’s quiet and can’t help but be fascinated by her ever running mouth and what comes out of it. She likes to boss him around and he likes to show her who the boss is. They both have pasta they’re working to get through and find comfort in one another. All the feels.

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Deacon and Cordy met when she answers his help wanted ad for an assistant, but he's not the one that put the ad up his sister, Nell did. Deacon hires Cordy even though he doesn't want anyones help, he wants to met Cordy because he can tell she's crazy just like his sister. When Cordy arrives she is mumbling to herself and slips but Deacon catches her before she falls. Deacon doesn't explain what Cordy will be doing for him he tells her she'll do whatever he asks of her. Deacon does let her know they are going up in the mountain and they won't be back down for two weeks so she needs supplies to last her that long. Cordy soon finds out they will be hiking in the mountains to get to his cabins he rents out for Valentine's Day, Deacon needs to make sure they are ready for the hikers. Cordy tells Deacon she's afraid of the woods, she went hiking when she was thirteen and got lost for four days before someone found her. Cordy only took this job to get over that fear of the woods, Deacon tells her he'll help her get over her fear. When they drive part way up the mountain Cordy can't get a cell signal, but when she finally gets one she gets several texts from her best friends, they are on a mission to do their Valentines pact they made with one another. They start out on their hike, Cordy admits she hates exercise, then she finds out they will be hunting or fishing for their food. Deacon soon grabs Cordy and throws her over his shoulder to carry her to the cabin. Deacon takes Cordy to the only bed in the cabin and removes her coat, then they start making out. Deacon kisses her, then he finds out that she's a virgin. Deacon pleasures her then they make love. The next day late in the afternoon, Cordy asks Deacon about why he came to the mountains to live, why it's been a few years since he heard things. Deacon takes Cordy and shows her on his dial up computer, he was one of three surviving firefighters and sixteen were killed in Pasayten Wilderness. Deacon. shares they were given the wrong information and the fire moved fast jumping the line cutting off their exit. Deacon could hear them screaming for help, he tried to save them but there was no way. Cordy tells him she thought her four days in the woods was bad, he tells her she was just a kid. Deacon tells her trauma isn't a competition they've both been through a lot. Cordy asks him if he's afraid to leave the mountain and he tells her no, he just doesn't like people. The next day the make love, and Deacon tells her she owns him. Deacon decides that when they leave the mountain he's going to go with Cordy, he knows she belongs with him. He knows she preparing to lose him, he knows Cordy won't survive in the mountain she needs to go back to Seattle. Deacon calls his sister, Nell and asks her to find someone to take over for him. Deacon tells his sister that his assistant is awesome and he's fallen in love with her, so he'll be leaving with her to move to Seattle. Cordy comes and overhears some of Deacon's conversation with his sister, Nell. Cordy goes to leave and walks out the door, but stops herself she knows she can't get down the mountain all by herself. Cordy marches back into the cabin and confronts Deacon she tells him if she's a problem he could have told her. Now Cordy wants him to take her back down the mountain to her car so that she can leave. Deacon pull her to him and won't let her go he takes her to the bedroom. Deacon tells her he won't ever let her go, he tells her he wasn't talking about her. Deacon tells her he doesn't want to take care of the cabins anymore and asked his sister, Nell to find someone. Deacon tells Cordy he wants to be her husband, he wants to be with her. He tells her he's crazy in love with her, when she leaves he going with her. He tells her he knows her being out her makes her uncomfortable, it frightens her and gives her anxiety. He could never let her live like that. Five years later, they head up the mountain for some time alone, they have three boys and another one on the way. They leave their three sons with Deacon's sister Nell and her husband Ford. Along the way Deacon has to stop for Cordy to use the restroom, but she screams to him that her water broke. They rush back down the mountain but don't make it to the hospital. Deacon has to deliver their son along the way. The ambulance comes along and they take Cordy and their son to the hospital, they are both doing fine. Deacon tells her he loves her and Cordy tells him she loves him.

I need a Deacon in my life! Can I have him? If I didn't love Cordy as much as I do, I would nab that hunky gentle giant!
Let's get the important things out of the way before I gush over this novel, shall we?
Safe, safety gang approved
Virgin h
No mention of H's past, but long time celibate, does not like people, avoids women. If he wasn't a virgin, that is just as good!
No OM
NO OW
A little dom play, neck squeezing asserting dominance for control, the sex is hot and the love and sweetness is there too!
HEA
I love Nichole Rose, her novels and characters are just what I want to dive into and just live vicariously through the heroine's skin in the company of a hero worthy of his name, and Deacon is definitely a romance hero! He never wavers in his love for our spitfire with pink hair and panties to match, yelling out for Paul Bunyan to save her!
When Cordy sat on his lap and he said that he was happy with his dog, his cabin, living secluded in nature, and doesn't need anything else, he saw a wave of sadness cross her face. Did he leave our heroine in heartbreak thinking about what to do, to leave or to stay, which is something most heroes do? NO! As soon as he saw her sadness he was ready to move to the city with her and was already planning, setting everything in order to do so! When there was another little misunderstanding, it did not last a minute, he carried her to the bed, pinned her arms down *swoon* and poured his heart out to her, looking in her eyes to make sure there is no misunderstanding left between them.
Now THAT is a something I look for in romance heroes now, when they see that their woman is sad or he said something and sees her face contort in hurt, he does not let her linger in pain, he crosses the floor in two steps, takes her in his arms, and makes sure that that hurt is no longer there. THAT is what I wanted, THAT is what I craved and Nichole Rose delivered with Deacon! It is the perfect amount of a jolt of angst quickly remedied, and that is why the smile on my face, made my cheeks hurt! LOL!!
This is a 5 star read, hands down, and I will be rereading this novella again and again. (Knowing myself, I am going to reread it tonight!)
Loved it! Cannot wait for more from Nichole Rose. Happy Galentine's Day!!

Cordy and Deacon are HOT together. Deacon is a delicious, possessive grump who realizes what a gift he’s been handed from the get-go and Cordy is a crazy mess of fun and sunshine who has found her very own Paul Bunyan.

At one point, Cordy has this internal monologue that genuinely struck me. It’s me. She’s me. I’m her. In so many ways.
“I’d rather be too much for people and leave this world knowing I experienced everything it had to offer and did everything I was meant to do, than to shrink myself to fit some mold and die deformed and repressed just because society said that’s who I had to be. I’m curvy and loud and a little bit mental. I talk back and stand up for myself and rarely behave. But I’m happy. I love who I am.”
(quote used with permission of author)

I loved this book, as I honestly expected I would. Just the right length. Lots of sweetness and steam and a quite delicious read.

The Galentine’s Getaway series from 2022 was my favorite series of the year. The current Galentine’s Chronicles series is shaping up to be my favorite this year and this is the perfect addition to the series. I love reading about groups of friends finding their happily-ever-afters!

P.S. I hope Deacon’s sister, Nell, and her friend Ford are going to be getting their own book soon!

I received an advance copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cordelia Shanks and her friends make a pact to get out of their comfort zone for Valentine’s Day. It was Cordelia’s drunk idea so she has to do it. She answers an ad to be Deacon Cromwell’s assistant in Winthrop Washington. Deacon lives in the mountains. Being in the mountains scares Cordelia because she was lost in the woods for two days when she was younger.

Deacon and his sister inherited an old fashioned saloon in town when their parents died. Nell runs the saloon and she is the one that put the ad in the paper to get Deacon an assistant. Six years ago Deacon was in the hot shot group of firefighters battling a wildfire in a canyon. Only three of them survived. Deacon came home to the mountain to recuperate and control his PTSD and he ended up staying. He runs his own business and does need an assistant to get him organized.

Can the curvy girl with pink hair and sass survive on the mountain for 2 weeks with her grumpy yet hot boss? Will Deacon be able to open his heart to Cordy?

Paul Bunyan, save me! OMG Cordy is hilarious with her interactions with her Mountain Man, Deacon. They are complete opposites but that's what makes them work. Cordy's Drunk Me personality came up with the idea that she, along with her besties, need to overcome one of their fears. Now Cordy's Sober Me is facing the consequences of that pact as she takes a job as personal assistant to a recluse living in the mountains. See, Cordy's fear is being stuck in the wilderness again after a field trip when she was a kid went wrong. But with Deacon by her side she does more than face her fears. She also falls in love.

Deacon has been living in the quiet and solitude for years thinking he didn't need anything more. That is until a curvy pixie with bright pink hair responds to an ad his sister placed. Now he doesn't know how he's going to keep his hands off his Sunshine.

Deacon and Cordy's story was a great mix between heartwarming and hilarious.

BBW, Grump/ sunshine

Trigger warnings
PTSD from wildfire fighting
Phobia of forrest

Cordy and her friends made a pact to do something special for Valentine's Day since they were all single. It was actually her idea. She answers an ad to be Deacon's assistant without knowing anything about how to survive the mountain he lives on. When she gets to him, things go from bad to worse. She is so scared of being in the woods that she almost passes out. Deacon already knows she is supposed to be his, but she can't stay in the woods, and he can't leave them. How will they ever work this out?

I enjoyed this book. I was happy that mid-way through her fit, she realized her mistake. Although, him having to save her from the woods would have been a great alternative...

Cordelia and Deacon have the right amount of Sass/ Sunshine that meets grumpy/stoic. Cordy and her gal pals made a pact. They are to make choices out of their comfort zone! When Cody sees an ad for an assistant to a mountain man her fear of the forest is about to be brought front and center. Deacon is a retired wilderness firefighter. He thinks that he is better off alone after he suffered an extreme loss with his team on a botched mission. It has been years of living in solitude, but his sister is about to put a wrench in that plan with her personal assistant ad!
The moment they meet is electric she is surprised and is getting all kind of butterflies and yes Deacon loves his quiet, but he is mesmerized by her continues chatter, sweet sassy demeanor and her moxie! Get your backpack ready we are headed on an adventure with Cordy and Deacon!

Yes, Sir! 🥵

The cover of this book is gorgeous and I couldn't wait to read the character that it inspired. Nichole didn't let me down with Cordelia. She's just as sassy, funny and loving as I hoped she would be. She loves submitting to Deacon but she can still speak her mind and she can stand up for herself when she needs to. Deacon lives in the woods trying to heal from his PTSD after a fire. He's become a bit of a recluse in the mountains. He loves his solitude and has become grumpy. That changes when Cordelia walks into his life to become his assistant. She softens his jagged edges and gets him to open up. There is some angst near the end where there is a misunderstanding but everything gets wrapped up in a hea.

I am leaving my honest review for a complimentary copy of this book via the author.

I knew when I started smiling while reading the first page that it was going to be another great book. I smiled and laughed all the way through! Cordy was definitely a pretty little mess, but an absolutely hilarious one. She’s so chaotic and witty and braver than she realized. Deacon was the best grumpy mountain man, but one with a past that made his demeanour all make sense. His story was heartbreaking, but I love that it spoke to how he overcame it and then even more with Cordy’s sunshine. Their shared traumas connected them and helped them help each other. It was a beautifully hilarious love story.

Instalove, grumpy OTT possessive, no OW/OM drama, no cheating, virgin FMC (not sure on MMC), talk of PTSD, HEA and an adorable epilogue 5 years in the future.

Nichole Rose has done it again!

Her books always make me laugh, smile, fall in love with her characters and keeps me impatient for her next one!

Cordelia and Deacon have both experienced trauma of their own and they’ve dealt with it in different ways. While Deacon has been able to work through his, Cordelia takes herself out of her comfort zone for hers.

Cordelia lives her life the way she wants to and with no regrets! She’s funny, sassy and so authentically herself.

Deacon may be classified as a grumpy mountain man but when he meets Cordelia, her personality shines so bright that he can’t help but fall for her!

These two are MEANT for each other! I couldn’t put their story down! Another 5⭐️ Nichole book for me!

ARC Review of Pretty Little Mess by Nichole Rose
* * * * *
A steamy Galentine's Day novella that will have you wanting your grumpy mountain man and climbing him on this special day of love.

Cordelia made one stupid drunk decision to face her fear on Valentine's Day, and now that has led her up the mountain to work for Deacon.
He's a big mountain man.
He's grumpy.
He didn't put the job up for advertisement but he'll take her anyway.
He also does not plan to let this sassy pink haired woman go once he has had his fill of her and her smart mouth.

Love how these two was both defensive but had an instant connection. Deacon's sister is wonderful and takes no trash from her brother and wants to brag on her geniusness...I can relate. Very saucy and steamy!

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was an awesome grumpy sunshine/ mountain man romance. It was exactly the kind of story that I love. It had loads of humor, a sassy heroine who didn’t need Paul Bunyan to save her, a grumpy, possessive mountain man and oh so much delicious steam, really who could ask for more?

I have been so curious about Cordy’s story while reading the other books in this series because she was the one who got the ball rolling so to speak and she did end up really winning my heart. I simply loved everything about this story.

This is part of the Galentine's Chronicles, Cordelia is lamenting her drunk decisions, making a pack with her girls that ends with her being an assistant to a Mt Man for two weeks. Why that has her spinning is that she still has trauma from being lost in the woods as a child.

She makes quite an impression on Deacon on the first meeting, showing more than she would have liked. Cordy's kind of crazy just seems to excite Deacon.

There was a lot about this story that made me laugh, the conversations she has with herself, some Deacon does over hear. This spunky pink haired girl just might be what he was waiting for on top of that mountain.

“Paul Bunyan save me” lol loved this book from start to finish, Cordelia is a hot mess and I love her can I be her friend! For valentines it’s her idea to do something her and her friends wouldn’t normally do, Cordelia’s involves applying to be a grumpy mountain man’s assistant for two weeks! But two weeks turns into deacon not wanting to let Cordelia go. It’s a really funny sweet hot and steamy read, and I loved every word from the his bride series when I first stumbled onto Nicholas books I’ve read everyone that’s been released, thank you for your words xxx

I absolutely loved this book! I am a huge fan of Nichole Rose’s books and she hit this one out of the park!

Cordelia is a curvy spit-fire who catches Deacon, the big mountain man’s heart from their first phone call. Cordelia is witty and funny and it makes Deacon fall fast. Cordelia loves that Deacon helps her work through her fears of the mountain. The chemistry and heat between them is STEAMY!

So funny! Cordelia is an absolute scream, she is hilarious. She lives life to the fullest and jumps into things full throttle. How can you not love that? She applies to be Deacon's assistant, wondering why a mountain man needs an assistant. Deacon is wondering the same exact thing. Its a real headscratcher as to why she applied when he finds out that nature terrifies her. After hearing her voice and looking her up online, meeting in person just finishes him off. He is completely gone for this pretty little mess. So entertaining, not to mention hawt, I devoured their story!

Cordelia made a Valentine's Day bet with her friends to do something outside their norm. When she decides to take a 2-week job offer out in the woods helping a "mountain man" with office tasks, she's worried her fear of the outsides will be too much but one look at Deacon and she knows she's safe with him. When Deacon meets his new assistant (that he knew nothing about until she called), he was head over heels. Now he is ready to stop hiding on the mountain but is Cordelia ready to take the biggest step ever with Deacon.

Super-hot and super sweet quick read.

This was fantastic!! Amazing, fun, laugh out loud romance!
Cordy was so much fun. Her and her girlfriends decided to conquer their fears for Valentine’s Day leading to her becoming a personal assistant to a mountain man for 2 weeks!
Deacon’s sister advertised for an assistant for her grumpy mountain man brother, he was not impressed until her saw Cordy, he knew at first glance she was his forever.
Sweet, hot and steamy with amazing chemistry, lots of laughter, a sassy heroine, a grumpy, possessive hero and a truly wonderful HEA

The Galentine's are always a good time! Cordelia and Deacon are simply all the perfect feels. Grumpy/sunshine. Extrovert/hermit. But they are so perfect together. Deacon is immediately taken with this pink-haired spitfire who never stops talking. Cordelia can't help but resist the secluded and sexy Paul Bunyan she's working for.

Nichole Rose nails it again. It's a perfectly sweet, with steam and passion and a smidge of 'how will they make it work' romance. I love these romances and will always have the Galentine books in my reread list.

This series has been fun to read and Cordy and Deacon were no exception. I was so glad to finally get the instigators story! Cordy had some serious trauma though from being lost in the woods at thirteen. What better way to face it then be an assistant for a real mountain man. I LOVED Deacon. He felt like a true Nichole Rose hero, just as Cordy being a hot mess is true Nichole heroine fashion. These two were pure fire together and I really loved their story. Great epilogue as well!

The Grump & his Sunshine

She is the sunshine to the darkness. I loved these two. From her inability to stop talking and fear of nature, to his grumpiness and rugged mountain manliness. They just worked together so well. I loved that he helped her get past her fear and that she showed him he didn’t have to live a life of solitude.

They were spicy and the banter was perfection!!!! I loved the epilogue so much!

Cordelia is AWESOME 👌 👏

Cordelia starts a dare you with her friends. Hers is to get over her fear of the mountains. She answers an ad for an admin assistant to a mountain man and meeting Deacon.

They are hot and heavy plus they quickly figure out they're it for each other. I loved how Deacon accepted her ways!

This is my first read by Nichole Rose and I'm looking forward to reading a lot more.

I TRULY enjoyed this read 📚!

This one was a hoot!

Deacon makes avoiding as many humans as possible an art form. Yet the wackiest, loudest, realest one of them all slays this mountain man at first phone call.
Cordy aka “pretty little mess,” is laugh out loud funny. She is also brave and loyal and I want to be her.

This opposites attract couple will make you swoon!

I loved their story! Corey owns her own business as a PA. Knowing that he needs help, Deacon’s sister puts an ad for a PA. Trying to conquer her fear of the outdoors, Cordy decides to answer the ad. She and her friends all decide to do something to face their fears and this is Cordy’s.
This book was hilarious! I had a great time reading it. Cordelia and Deacon’s story is definitely one to be enjoyed!
