Hookah Smoking Caterpillar

Rate this book
I’m falling down the rabbit hole into Cheshire’s Den of Debauchery.

I’m obsessed with my deviant desires and only one thing can bring me satisfaction—Caterpillar. Whether by luck or misfortune, he can be bought. I only need to make a deal with Cheshire...and his deals have the tendency to go sideways.

They say curiosity killed the cat but I’m the one in trouble. I was the canary in his jaws the moment I stepped into his lair.

And I just keep falling. Falling for them and falling to the bottom of Wonderland where the truth of my past lurks in the murky depths.

Wonderland bites and I fear I’ve been infected.

Caterpillar had two nipples. Two pierced nipples. Insects aren't supposed to have any nipples.

Naturally, I did a search for the word 'nipples', trying to figure out how many nipples the cat would have. I found out the cat character had two nipples.

3 out of 3 characters had two nipples. 1 out of 3 characters had the correct number of nipples.

I had to stop reading because I was reading a monster book with an anthropomorphic caterpillar and an anthropomorphic cat, and I couldn't focus on anything but the nipples.

This felt like reading Alice in Wonderland on drugs, with some kinky sex thrown in.

Oh, and there’s a caterpillar…

Now you’d think an Alice in wonderland smutty retelling would be fun when none of it made sense, but all I got from it was I think I was just tricked into reading bug fetish :/ the mad hatter epilogue was kinda fun tho… but the rest? :/

The trippy feeling was fun… but I kinda wish it wasn’t smut bc it would’ve been fun without it

This book is an erotic trip!

I mean it’s kinda expected when it comes to an Alice in Wonderland retelling. What wasn’t expected was how damn smutty it was.

Formicophilia, a form of zoophilia, is the sexual interest in being crawled upon or nibbled by insects, such as ants, or other small creatures. This paraphilia often involves the application of insects to the genitals, but other areas of the body may also be the focus.

Yeah, never thought I’d be reading a book where one of the MC’s was afflicted by anything close to that. And if it was anything but a beloved character from a classic, I doubt I’d ever do it again.

I mean this book tackled so many kinks/triggers, it’s practically a book in and of itself. Seriously, just go on goodreads, they’re all listed in the second half of the blurb.

I also never thought I’d read monster smut that includes an ovipositor. If you don’t know what that is, and you plan to read this crazy yet awesome book don’t look it up. Trust me, go in a little blind. It’s worth it.

If you’re looking for a whimsical retelling, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you’re into dark, psychologic, twisted, fucked up and hot as hell. Well here you go!

"Run some more, Alice. Run so you remember you're prey."

Hell yeah caterpillars lol

Thank god I'm not scared of the wee lil beasties

I actually think they look cuddly, like bumble-bees?

This was pretty much what I would expect from Wonderland erotica:

The Caterpillar is a spoiled sex worker in Cheshire's luxurious brothel and Alice is horny for bugs but the London society can never find out!! The roses have cat snouts with sharp teeth and the whole place is filled with bioluminescent, probably deadly, mushrooms! Also, tea parties. Of course there are tea parties.

If you want to read about Alice being the tablecloth at the teaparty, this is absolutely the right place to do so.

The writing was surprisingly good and some of the paragraphs I really enjoyed.

I... don't even have words. What. The smut was smutting. This was such an acid trip (and I've never done that but I feel like this would be my trip and I would hate it) I did enjoy this read even if the ending is wildy confusing. I think my fear of bugs is worse after this. Time will tell. Definitely won't be forgetting this read.

Hookah Smoking Caterpillar is everything I crave in a retelling – imaginative, dark, clever, twists that keep you on your toes and filthy in the best ways possible. This is a tale of breaking things apart and putting the pieces back together again. Of revealing the truth regardless of the anguish it may cause. Of finding your place in a strange world, growing and thriving.

We begin our journey in Cheshire Cat’s Den of Debauchery, where anyone can fulfill their deepest desires, and Alice seeks one night with the one “person” she yearns for most – Caterpillar. What she gets is much more than what she bargained for, and that’s all I’ll say for fear of spoilers. The plot itself is very much character-centric where the mysteries unfold as buried memories are unearthed.

Beautifully written characters pepper these pages. Alice is submissive, but will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Shaheen the Caterpillar is haughty, princely, and lives for worship, but he can’t seem to ignore his obsession – Alice. Cheshire Cat and his need to feed his insatiable hunger, he portrays himself as a vile villain, but in truth he’s the victim of an addiction – Alice.

Hollow tells this tale as a feast for the senses. Colors, smells, sounds and more are utilized to build the world of Wonderland around you with such stunning imagery, immersing you in a world that’s unsettling and enthralling in equal measure. It’s far too easy to lose yourself down the rabbit hole, finding yourself at a tea party ripe with delicious morsels and murder. Yes, you read that right.

The spice is top tier, incredibly hot right out of the gate, then getting more and more depraved as the chapters go on. This *is* a monster romance, and Shaheen *is* a caterpillar, and Cheshire *is* a cat (kind of), so you can just imagine the creative liberties Hollow took with those dynamics. (Mad) Hats off to you, Beatrix – you made me feel for a bug.

This book was wild and dazzling. The ending was absolutely perfect, but I do hope we’re able to revisit Wonderland in the future. A mind-bending descent into madness and indulgence, I loved this book to pieces.

Ok, ok. Hear me out though.

This is the hardest honest review I've ever had to write. I don't want to be truthful and say that the sexy parts of this book turned me on in ways I can't explain because... like wtf, bugs.. cats? Well at least the cat had a human form but... like.. ehhh

I refuse to say 'new kink unlocked.' I am going to absolve myself of responsibility and blame the lackluster books I've recently read. The smut wasn't hitting lately so I got to Wonderland here and the extra limbs did it for me after such deprivation.

The twists and turns of the book did catch me by surprise. It wasn't predictable at all. A part of me wished Alice would go home but I suppose Wonderland is where it's at.. because how could you go back to regular limbs after that?

This was every bit the dreamy trip I was hoping it would be. There was a slight disjointed feeling that left me a little out of sorts and I wasn’t sure until just now if I liked the twist Beatrix put on the story. I do! I definitely do. I loved the visuals. She painted the imagery so clearly. I loved Cheshire’s Den as the setting. I love how the writing is so imaginative and sexy and haunting and creepy and fantastical. This woman can convince me anything is hot, with the way she now has me in love and obsessed with not one but two bugs. She’s my monster queen.

So this is one of those books that I like the smut, but everything else is just too abstract to actually connect with.
And in this case, I like the smut itself but I didn’t really care for the circumstance that the smut occurs in…
And then the plot and the characters themselves are just all over the place. It’s like trippy because it’s going for Alice in Wonderland in a brothel run by the Cheshire Cat vibes…
It’s just not really working for me.
I don’t think it’s bad, I just don’t care about it..? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like I just took a bunch of acid and tripped my way through this book... what in the world did I even just read??? WHY DO YOU GUYS MAKE ME READ THESE THINGS?!

I couldn't even get past the description without absolutely cackling at "I’m obsessed with my deviant desires and only one thing can bring me satisfaction—Caterpillar." The fact that Alice just keeps calling him Caterpillar had me ROLLING with laughter - then the fact that she got off on his little beady eyes and antenna gave ME the creepy crawlies.

Not only was this man half man, half caterpillar but he was a caterpillar with PIERCED NIPS. Don't even get me started on Cheshire who was basically a man cat. I would also just like to say these monster d*cks are getting out of hand with the barbs and the "sheath" and the constant leakage 😐 (I saw some artwork for this on the author's insta and I'll never unsee some things). Don't even get me started on the EGGS - he legit came EGGS and she had to WALK AROUND WITH THEM.

⚠️ Minor Spoiler Ahead ⚠️

This book was absolutely wild and filled with some FILTHY smut throughout the entire book. I would say this was mainly smut but there was some plot to it too. I straight up SCREAMED when it became MMF or should I say cat/caterpillar/rabbit. Idk why I was even surprised when this book was already f'ed up. But a caterpillar taking a cat was not what I thought would happen in this book.

3-stars because I honestly felt like the ending was just too much, which is weird considering the rest of the book but 🤷🏼‍♀️. If you ever thought you had a bug fetish or are into furries - then this one's for you 🥴🥴

I have only read a few of Beatrix Hollow's books, and she has worked her way up on my favorite author list. Her reads tend to be dark, with humor and steam, and this was no exception.

This is an Alice in Wonderland-based story with dark humor and smut. I loved Alice and Shaheen. Of course, Cheshire got on my nerves, but wasn't that the point? The writing is beautiful in the description of the characters, as well as the location.

I will continue to read every book by this author—a solid 4-star book.

DNF @16% because….

SHE: has a sexual fetish on a caterpillar so she pays for him to have sex with her but its honestly not even a guarantee that he will. He has to test how much she actually wants him. Anyway… she then realizes she can *actually* fall in love with him just as soon as he first penetrates her with his caterpillar peen.

and

HE: comes inside her to forcefully impregnate her via oviparity without her consent telling her to SHHHH while she’s asking wtf is happening.

It is probably cliche to say but still…Beatrix Hollow will absolutely pull you into a trip to Wonderland with Hookah Smoking Caterpillar. This will be a feast of the senses for readers who get lost in their imaginations while reading. Hollow doesn’t show you around. She smokes the hashish into your nostrils and twirls you around the room until you are just as discombobulated as Alice.
I wouldn’t recommend this book as light reading. It is highly readable but demands your attention. Some books I can read with a show in the background. Not this one! The story is as demanding as Caterpillar. It is a jealous book. That is the only thing that keeps it a four-star for me. Even then, I feel the rating system is stupid for books like this. Consider this a fun one for you Wonderland freaks out there like me.

I feel like this book is for a distinct group of people (people who are REALLY into anthropomorphic caterpillars), which I am not a part of.

DISCLAIMER: I barely ever read a synopsis so this is kind of my own fault.

My friend spotted this in some video and the cover looked cool so we decided to pick it up. Literally not a 1000 guesses would have me guess the plot of this book. My head is a microwave and this book was the tin foil inside that made it catch fire and explode.

The writing was pretty good, not gonna lie, but the contents were just not for me; which is why I decided not to rate this.

When you get into an Alice in Wonderland retelling you know it is going to be a bit of a trip. This was much more than a trip it was more of a full-on experience falling down this rabbit hole.

Before I go further this is where I tell you to heed the triggers. Please. Beatrix Hollow is a brilliant author there is no question about that. The triggers in this book, however, can be more than triggering for some.

Somnophilia, ovipositor, and eco horror were all new themes for me. And if it was anyone but Hollow writing them, I doubt I would have enjoyed them as much as I did. I know my boundaries and this one almost crossed it but there was not one second, I didn't completely love.

The Cheshire Cat’s Den of Debauchery was one of the most hedonistic and enjoyable places I have ever read about in a book. Even though we didn't see what happened behind every single curtain I can promise you that those walls have seen everything. Probably even some things we haven't even begun to think about.

I am actively not going into detail about these characters because you need to form your own judgement there. Some are wicked, in the delicious way and some are wicked in the beware kind of way.

This book really as an experience and you should know that before you go in. It was almost a sensory overload in parts because there was so much going on. Hookah Smoking Caterpillar might be the most unique smutty book I have ever read. And I am going to need more!

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

I went into this completely blind, other than the fact that it was Alice in Wonderland vibes, and I’ve got to say…If I were one to do drugs, I imagine this is how it would be to trip on some mushrooms or some other hallucinogen. Find a cat and a caterpillar to fuck, turn into a white rabbit, have a whole host of friends to have tea parties with, and then forget them all every time you came down from your high, just to meet with them all again when you get high again. To say this book was entertaining is an understatement. I loved it so much and I just entered my Beatrix Hollow era, so I’m looking forward to reading more of her monsters!

The narration on this was absolute perfection. The voices they chose to portray Alice, Cheshire, and Shaheen were 100% spot on. Maeve had that innocence in her voice that Alice’s naïve character required, and the guys were just so spot on with the harsh edginess of the villainous Cheshire Cat and the mellow carefreeness of the Hookah Smoking Caterpillar.
