WOW. With each installment the series gets better and better. There’s action, adventure, love, heartache, and so much more. I can’t express how much I truly enjoy this series. The characters are so well developed they seem real. I received this book as an ARC for my honest review. I hope you pick it up!

Many thanks to Claire for the advanced copy.
I don’t even know where to begin. It was so good. It was emotional, perfectly paced, terrifying, very sad, and repulsive. All the things that make up a great horror story. I only ever want more of this series. I likely won’t stop thinking about it until the next book comes out. This book convinced me to call this series a favorite, and it would make an excellent piece of cinema. Would so highly recommend.

Thank you to Claire Fraise for the chance to receive an ARC of They Return. This book is absolutely amazing and a perfect continuation of the They Stay series. I loved every second of it.

From the beginning, with Shiloh and Jonah in hiding, it keeps you on your toes. I loved watching Shiloh's character growth. Changing from someone, who in the first book, is still scared to break the rules, to being someone who throws all rules out the window, and does what she feels is the right choice for those she cares about, regardless of the consequences. Ending her part of the story the way they did was a fitting ending, and I can't wait to see where it goes in the next book.

Miles has some self discovery as well. He grows more confident in his new body, and yet, still holds on to some of the classic Miles traits.

Jonah has a huge moment of vulnerability, and I love that. Seeing him open up to Shiloh more and more was one of my favorite parts.

As for Francesca. Her character had the most growth out of them all. From being this quiet girl, who always seemed worried about upsetting anyone, to finding that inner strength, and becoming an amazingly strong character...*chef's kiss*

There was even a moment in the book where I actually exclaimed out loud, because I couldn't believe it happened. I was shocked! I can't remember the last time a book got that type of reaction out of me.

I can't say enough positive things about this book, or the series in general. It has easily become one of my top favorite book series. I can definitely see me rereading the entire series as each book comes out. I look forward to seeing where the story goes over the remaining books.

“‘You can’t decide to be happy and then suddenly it’s like all the stuff that happened to you never happened. That’s crap.’ // ‘The past has followed me,’ Phil says. ‘It has made some things in my life harder, but if I’d listened to the voice that told me I did not deserve anything more, I would still be the unhappy young man I once was.’”
—> One can’t control what happens to him/herself in the past, but s/he can control how s/he lets it shape his/her future. I absolutely loved this scene in the book.

So far this series has been dark, fun, and emotional in all the best ways. With each new book, the series gets better and better!

This series is an adventurous ghost hunt. We have murder (a little gory), there’s a serial killer on the loose, there are ghosts, and a little romance. Along with character growth, anticipation, and an edge of your seat pace… Everything one could want in a YA horror story is here in this book, in this series.

Pick it up today!

Read if you enjoy:
🧐 Investigations
🕵️‍♀️ Suspense (man hunts, “will they make it out alive”, “what could possibly happen next”!?)
🧗‍♀️ Cliffhangers in the best way 🥲
🤍 Young love

🔥 Spice Level: Mild - There are some kisses and one non-explicit open door scene.

Thank you, Claire, for the ARC of They Return in exchange for an honest review. I honestly loved it.

They Return by Claire Fraise
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

They Return by @clairefraiseauthor , the 3rd in the they Stay series .
The book is plot around high school students who keep getting into trouble with the dead. They want nothing more than to help, but keep ending up on the questioning side of the police interrogation table because of it .

This YA series is haunting , it will stay with you .

Claire's writing definitely matures as her series takes flight. I love being able to watch the characters develop and mature on their own as we read .

I love who the kids story is only getting worse. Meaning we are up for a 4th in the series . I love the absolute chaotic energy this book is, in the best way possible .

* I am part of Claire's ARC team. I recieved this book free in return for my unbiased review *

They Return is such a whirlwind of action and anxiety!

They Return, continues where book 2 ended and it was such an exciting read for me. Shiloh, Francesca, Miles, and Jonah are still trying to figure things and out within themselves and with the villain. I loved how I saw growth with the characters. The addition of new characters was fun! Not knowing who to trust certainly added to the story. There were several moments while reading the book that I gasped out loud because I couldn't believe what was happening!! The author certainly hooked me in and didn't let up till the very end. I'm very curious to see what happens next!! I can't wait to see what happens next with the trio, especially Francesca, and Shiloh.

Also, I'm very curious about the little girl at the end.

Special thanks to the author for the advance gifted copy.

Run, run, run as fast as you can!

I got the wonderful opportunity to be able to read Claire Fraise's book in advance and give a review! Let me just say, Oh my goodness, this book gave me a roller coaster of emotions! I had plans to take my time reading this, but I ended up finishing it in one night like I did with, "They Whisper." Claire Fraise has a way of transporting you into her world, and the only way to get out is to finish the book! That's talent right their! What really stood out to me in this book was how brave all the characters had to be in order to take down their foe and how all of them had to make sacrifices in order to save the ones they love. Teamwork and trust are the only way to take on their foe, and believe me, there were so many scenes I found I was holding my breath for! Something that really stuck out to me was Claire Fraise's ability to really let you into each of the characters minds and you could see the turmoil each of them were in having to do things that they weren't even sure they could do! My favorite character, Francesca, had to really hone in her newfound skills to save her friends, but being as powerful as she is comes with a price and I really felt for her. Let's be real, I felt for everyone in this book because no one had an easy time with the hand they had been given. These characters are so well developed and have really grown up since the first book! I love being a part of their journey, and I hope you pick this book up and support this wonderful author whose talents know no bounds! Well done, Claire Fraise, for another thrilling, suspenseful, shocking, and mind-blowing book!

Another nail biter!!!

This is such a fun series. I have truly fallen in love with all of the characters (Miles, Shiloh, Francesca & Jonah) and enjoy seeing them work together to battle Leonard & his posse. Once again, Claire Fraise has left us with a cliffhanger and I can not wait to see what the next book has in store for the friends. Highly recommend!

Picking up immediately after the events of They Whisper, Shiloh is recovering, but the police are on her trail. She needs to hide until she has a plan to get to Leonard.

Oh. My. Gosh. This book was such a rollercoaster! I am just fascinated by the world Fraise has created. This book is another wonderful installment in the series and it does so much for the characters. I definitely said this in my review of They Whisper, but every single character walks through hell in this book. And the development is astonishing. Looking at Shiloh, for example, from They Stay to They Return, is just so interesting. Her arc is so well done. And it's really just the little character things that pull it all together, like finding out why Francesca talks the way she does - super small detail, but big for her character.

Overall, They Return is just a packed story that serves the characters, and the overarching plot well. Super super well. I loved it!

Talk about non-stop action! Book three in the They Stay series picks up right after book two with our group of teens already in some deep trouble as they continue fighting their body/soul snatching enemy. However, this book included a lot more death than the previous two. This book ends with a cliffhanger certainly prepping for a fourth book and I'm so ready to see where that goes! (And maybe finally kill our evil villain once and for all?) All in all, I believe this might have been my favorite in the series thus far, due to the constant action and drama. But definitely be warned, this book is not for those who may not enjoy reading some rough torture scenes. Thank you to Claire Fraise for sending me an ARC in return for an unbiased review! I'm so ready to see where the story goes next!

What can we say but she did it again, I loved reading the book just as the previous two installments this book kept me on the edge of my bed as we followed the various journey of our Scooby doo gang. But it was an amazing read especially as we followed the two main leads in it being Shiloh and Francesca. It was as if we were reading two stories that would or would not eventually merge for that you have to read and find out. But I will tell you this whenever we got to Francesca point of view or her journey it felt like like I was watching nightmare on elm street with Taken it was a fun read. While Shiloh story was a Gilmore girls episode with violence lol. Please read the book you will have fun following their journey because this book will have you questioning everything and put you through various emotional turmoil's depending on the chapter. Enjoy the book you wont regret it.

not the worst just not the best

I just feel like too much is happening and it's all going sideways. Absolutely nothing is resolving and the hero is a criminal. The true criminal is unstoppable. Only bad is happening. Too much tension to want to continue. Left with an utterly hopeless feeling

Today I am reviewing a book by the first author to ever accept my review inquiry. In 2021, Claire had a form that you could fill out if you were interested in receiving and reviewing an advance copy of They Stay (the first book in this series). I wasn't expecting anything seeing as I only had 300-something followers at the time but Claire reached out and told me that the first book was on its way to me! The following year, she did the same for the second book in the series. Today, I am reviewing the third book!
Though I now have over 1,000 followers on my Bookstagram account, I want to thank Claire for giving me the chance to review her book when I was just a baby blogger/bookstagrammer! I also want to thank her for her patience when her re-request form for this book went unseen :( in my junk mail! So thank you, Claire for being so gracious and kind to me. I wish you all the success in the world!

As always, all views expressed in this review are my own.

I gave this book 4.5 stars on Goodreads. If there is one thing that I know about a Claire Fraise book now, its that I am going to be enthralled from the start. She just knows how to hook me and maintain my interest! I have had a hard time getting into book series recently. I think I have a hard time with series because I find that they go downhill after the first book. There are some exceptions (Catching Fire is definitely my favorite in the Hunger Games universe) and this series is one of them! It seems that each book is just as good, if not better, than the book that came before it.

The characters continue to be written in such a way that makes me emotionally invested in them and their wellbeing. I love Jonah and Miles and Shiloh and... pretty much all of them!
The way that this series has progressed, I have one word---flawlessly. I am so impressed with the character development and the way that the story has fleshed out. It has been a while since I have truly enjoyed a series like this. In a way, it has renewed my enjoyment of the young adult genre.

Overall, I would recommend to readers age 13/14+. Claire does provide some content warnings which include: Contains violence, PTSD, depictions of drug addiction, kidnapping, and mental abuse. If you find any of the above listed content to be triggering or just don't think that this is "your thing", I would suggest that you skip on this book. As the reader, you know what kind of topics you can handle and enjoy. Readers discretion is always advised.

The more these kids go through the more I wonder what else can even happen.

If its been a hit since you read the second book, I recommend at least re-reading the end because I was lost for a second on what happened just like Shiloh in the beginning 😂. But everything was cleared up quick and from them it's just one thing after another that is really gonna make the end of the series soooooooo satisfying, depending on if it's happy or not. I'm kinda hoping there's some way to eventually put all the blame on the dad because he needs to be dealt with because his playing the victim card still makes me mad. I'm glad he at least doesn't do anything directly to them in this one (sorry that's a minor spoiler). I at least need Max to come out of all of this unscathed but with how this one ended, we'll see about that. I feel bad for all of them and if you think the situation can't get worse, it does, a lot. But there are some new people I did not expect and it seems that there is more to the world of ghosts than they all thought so I can't wait to see what else is going to be revealed because they are going to need have a better understanding of that world cuz of the ending. There are some nice, happy moments, mainly any that mean a small nice moment between Shiloh and Max, but also some new romantic relationships develop that give a break from all the tragedy. Really I just need this to eventually end on a happy note because Claire is really putting them through the ringer even more.

Even though it's filled with so much tragedy it's soo good and is the best one yet, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for the next one!

Best book yet!! This series just gets better and better!!

This is an AMAZING YA Horror series! There aren’t a lot of good ones, but there have been some authors who have really stepped up. Fraise is definitely one of them!!

Each book just gets better and better in this series! The character growth is phenomenally impressive and the storyline is so FREAKIN AWESOME!! The pacing is really well balanced and keeps you turning the pages. I’m SO IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES!!! I can’t get enough of it! Each time I finish a book I’m dying for the next one!!

I loved seeing Shiloh and Jonah’s romance developing. Two damaged people who understand each other, but being young they’ve been too afraid for each other to see the damage. It’s been gradual and very authentic for two teenagers with damage and insecurities. But that’s what makes it feel real. The characters in this book really do feel real, and they all need a hug!! Miles is dealing with being in a new body after his old one died. And sweet Francesca with her necromancy and her insecurities. She really grows into a strong & amazing person in this book!! Plus some new characters showed up in this book and are very interesting.

Sorry for the long review. I tend to go on and on when I’m excited about a book, or book series. If you enjoy YA Horror with ghosts, necromancy, friendship, family, romance and LOTS of crazy, shocking twists and turns, then you will LOVE this series too!

THEY RETURN continues the story of Shiloh, Francesca, Miles, and Jonah, and picks up right where the brutal ending of book 2 left us. Shiloh is picking up the pieces, Miles is…adapting, or trying to, and Francesca is put in quite a tough predicament. While each installment carries its fair share of darkness and danger, this one really ups the ante and takes the characters and readers to even darker places.⁣

As with the previous books, this one also switches between POVs, and I loved seeing each character go through their own personal struggle alongside the main battle. There’s been quite a bit of growth that each character has done over the course of the series, and that’s really evident in this third installment. Jonah and Shiloh took some big steps, Miles is maturing and changing, and Francesca is coming into her own and seeing what she’s truly capable of. I love the spooky storyline and the foe(s) that just won’t quit, but the characters and their relationships are so fantastic that they really outshine everything else. ⁣

All told, THEY RETURN will deliver all the suspense, chills, and gut punches. The story is dark, tense, and brutal, and I can’t wait to see what book 4 holds for these characters. 4 stars. Thanks so much to @clairefraiseauthor for sending me an arc!⁣

We are back again with the whole gang - Shiloh, Jonah, Francesca, and Miles! After the events of the last book, I was so excited to see what would happen next, and Claire does not disappoint us! Each book shows us more and more about each of these unique characters, including Leonard and his friends, and dives deeper into each of their pasts. It’s hard to believe that the events of these 3 books are all taking place within a short span of time. Once again, I was shocked by the ending and can’t wait for book 4!

The story started where it left off in book two so it was just a few hours of a gap to fill and bring us up to date. It’s getting interesting as we move forward with every chapter and the highlight is that we see different POVs clearing out the scenarios. The plot grows exponentially with every book Claire writes and gives a detailed version of ongoing events.

Claire writes beautifully and gives as many insights as possible. Seeing Shiloh and Jonah’s past snippets are heartbreaking, their struggle is real, and still dealing with things no child should deal with is tough. Francesca is a sweet soul going through hard times and is in a very difficult situation. Miles is the one who has dealt a very short hand. You’ll know what I mean when you’ll read the series.

We meet so many new people and get to know a few things about them and the background of the villain here. So many things are still left to explode in the next installment and the cliffhanger was shocking. I really look forward to seeing what happens after that shock.

"It's not often you get the chance to kill someone twice." -From They Return

5 stars

The third book in this series started fast right where you left off in the action, and the pace didn't slow down from there. Things are NOT going well, and only get worse! I really fell in love with Francesca more, and all of the circus people. Although I didn't particularly liked who Shiloh was with, one of my favorite tropes occurred, making me still interested in where their relationship goes. It ends with a huge cliffhanger making me wish the next book was out already! I love following this interesting band of characters and seeing them try to get themselves out of some pretty sticky situations with weapons and humor. Pick this up if you want a fast paced thriller with memorable characters.

Thank you to the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

They Return by Claire Fraise is the third installment of the They Stay series. The book picks back up following Shiloh, Miles, Jonah, and Francesca. As per the styling of the prior books this one switches viewpoints between the main characters so we are able to see what’s happening across the board. I really enjoy this style of writing as it keeps things interesting and shows different points of view for each character. This book is just as action packed and intense as the prior ones and I couldn’t be more excited to see where things continue to go from here. If you enjoy suspenseful, well thought out stories I highly recommend you read the They Stay series by Claire Fraise (starting with book one of course).

After the second book left me with the cliffhanger of what felt my life I didn’t know how it was going to play out, but OH MY GOSH! I have no idea how these books keep getting better and better. The action, the suspense, the touch of romance and of course the way the words just drive you page after page is what keeps me going and craving more! Gimme book 4! Claire as always you are such an amazing Author and I cannot believe you out did yourself again!

They Return is Book Three in the They Stay series by Claire Fraise.

They Return is just as fun to read as the first two books. It continues on with the story of Shiloh, Francesca, Miles and Jonah, and their fight against Leonard, a horrible, menacing ghost. It is a roller coaster ghost story that you can’t put down.

Claire knows how to make you feel all the emotions of her characters just as if you are right there with them.

Claire Fraise - Thank you for the opportunity to receive an ARC. You are truly a very talented author and I look forward to many more books by you.

Loved this installment! The gang is together again, on a mission to rescue Francesca and end Leonard once and for all. This book went more into Leonard's backstory and motivation for doing what he does, as well as the intricacies of the ghost-phantom realm. Francesca continues to be my favorite character, but they all had my heart at some point which speaks to how better the writing and buildup is getting. I'm glad this is intended to be a 5-book series, because there is a LOT that will need to be wrapped up before I feel content with how it ends!

Leonard took Francesca. He needs her to bring his loved ones back from the Other Side, and will hurt her if she refuses to help. Shiloh and the gang need to save her... But how can they do that when they don't know where she is and Shiloh is wanted for murder?

Oh my goodness. This series is great, and this last installment is no different! I literally spent all day reading this book because I could not put it down. I loved the character development and I NEED the next book asap.

This was the most suspense I have had while reading a book in a long time! Be prepared for heartbreak, and for a cliffhanger ending.

This author is really really good at character building, like you will truly connect with each character on a personal level. And the way she brings the characters to life, you feel like they are your friends (or enemies) too. But this is the exact reason why it stings so much when the characters you love are in danger…

A nail-biting third installment!!

Claire Fraise has brought us another fast-paced, thrilling installment in the They Stay series! This book only builds on the world that has been established in previous books, diving deeper into the character’s abilities, relationships, and growing list of problems. I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through, and I can not wait to see where the next book takes us!!

I’m so addicted to this series of books. I find myself sitting up to the wee hours reading, knowing that I have to get up early to go to work! This author is my favorite new to me author. The story line moves quickly, I can’t wait to see what’s coming up next, it’s mysterious and scary, totally addictive. I’d love to see a movie or mom series made from the books. It’s better than Stranger Things and I loved Stranger Things!
