🖊 My review: It was interesting that the Greeks considered beer “unsophisticated and uncultured” and that there “determined wine to be the crucial civilizing factor.” I found this book to be very dry reading and stiff in its presentation.

🔻 Genre: History, culture.
🖋 The writing style: Stiff and dry.
🗝 What I learned: The Greeks turned their noses up at beer.
💫 What I like best: The snappy cover,
📌 Would I read this again? No; I am the designated driver tonight.

Good heavens! Was this story around that long? I heard it in school, too.
🔸 in 1954, a newspaper in New Orleans reported on the many migrating birds that were apparently getting drunk on berries in the city’s parks. A local birdwatcher was shocked to observe blackbirds staggering around in the grass, and robins lying drunk in the gutters.
