I really enjoyed this overall. It's separated into a few sections, like one explaining the history of tarot or another delving into the meaning of each card. The only section that kind of lost me was the last, which goes over a few spreads, which I found very interesting, but it also had example reads that were very long. I personally don't learn that way, so that was the only slow part for me. Otherwise, I loved it! I'm 100% working on and making progress with reading tarot.

Overview:
This book goes through the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck and how to pick your very own Tarot deck and to see if you connect with them. It also goes through a chapter of the evolution of Tarot and the meanings behind the cards and the different card spreads that you can do including examples.

Thoughts:
I learned a lot in this book about Tarot and a bit of Chakra. It was neat to broaden my knowledge in Tarot and I will be coming back to this book to get familiar with the meanings to the Tarot themes to better understand what they mean and represent.
I loved how this book was very in depth about the card meanings and buying a deck and knowing if the Tarot deck is for you.
I also really loved the design of the book. It had golden gilded page edges, on each page inside the book it has a beautiful pattern on the border and a stunning pattern on the end pages of this book.
It did suck that the images were not in colour because in the book the author would describe the colours of the card and the meanings about the colours but they were in black and white so you couldn't decipher the full meaning of the cards without having the actual deck in front of you.

I would have given this book a three star but some of the text I didn't really like the phrasing of.
This is just my opinion and it might not bother you.

I understand Tarot cards have been around for a long time but I didn't like some of the authors wording. One thing that I kept seeing when going through the Tarot card meanings was

This book has more of a Kabbalistic approach than I would to tarot, but it is a great resource for those looking to learn the tarot from the more esoteric lens.

It has fun spreads, including long, complicated ones that are actually really fun to do. And we read this for book club, and it really was a well received book all around.

I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are planning to take it slow with learning tarot, card by card.

A very comprehensive look at Tarot: History, individual card meanings, spreads and example readings. I read it cover to cover - which was honestly a bit difficult to push through - but having this has a reference book on your shelf is a must!

This was pretty good at giving a survey knowledge of the tarot. I love the way the cards were described by following the fools journey.
