Seventh Star #2

Never Yours

Rate this book
An upright warrior captures the captain of a smuggling operation, but their torment has just begun…

As Deputy Major General of the High Nestian army, Thea Newquist has a reputation to uphold. Often lauded as King Artemis' right-hand-woman, Thea is sworn to protect the law and keep the peace on the Seventh Star.

However, there have been reports of foreign tech popping up in the cities. A handheld Touch communicator is harmless. But what about a blaster? Or high-grade weapons?

No. The situation is untenable.

In the middle of a private mission for King Artemis, Thea notices a sketchy, sleek submarine emerging from the depths of the ocean, charting its own path in the waters. Curiosity pushes her to track the vessel, and duty prompts her to capture the captain who's dropping off a shipment of illegal goods.

Only... She doesn't expect her new prisoner to be a tattooed, fiery-haired brat that simply won't admit defeat. At every turn, the captured Captain fights her tooth and nail, but Thea simply doesn't have the willpower to fight back. With every flick of wild curls and hisses from those red lips, it becomes clear that the little omega is about to go into heat.

And it is up to Thea to get the Captain back to the city before those pulsing pheromones sink them both.

I'm pretty sure this book has some of the longest steamy mating scenes I have ever read. I refuse to go back and count the pages that made my face blush redder than a tomato, but, suffice to say, there were entire chapters where I must've looked absolutely possessed. Knot gonna lie about that🤪

I bloody loved Aeryn and Art from book 1 and now I have another two mates to fawn over. Loved the thin line between the grey area and law abiding that entangled this couple. And the epilogue?? I'm just all swooped up into their love and how wonderfully they fit into Nestia's royal family. It was perfection to see how far Aeryn has come into her own and how remarkable the relationships are between Art and the ones she chose to surround herself with. More more more more... please!!!!

I was highly anticipating this book and it certainly did not disappoint. I loved Thea in the first book so it’s wonderful to read her story. Captain Jaid is such a strong omega, I instantly liked her feisty spirit. I love the way things ended with her help thousands of innocents were saved. I’m looking forward to the next three books in the series. It looks like they will be centered around the next generation. Slightly disappointed that we may not get more on Hana’s story, but all together excited for more of the series.

I'm very disappointed.Idk if this is my fault for having high expectations.

First of all, their relationship is anything but what I expected, and not in the good way.

Jaid.I thought she was gonna be a powerful Omega,a sassy one or something, but she was not ,she was soo disparate, too disparate, I though she was gonna walk dog Thea,it looks like it was the opposite.I hated how she changed her opinion on her job(whom she liked)...after what?not even something important.

Thea.disappointed.I thought she was gonna be more obsessed ,more unhinged with Jaid, she was not ,I wanted her to beg Jaid,to be disparate.Even tho sometimes she would say some things that would have kicking my feet,it wasn't enough. Her character was very different in Art's book, she was too serious in this one

Their whole relationship didn't feel enough, I needed more fight in the fact that they're enemies.

And the biggest disappointment is Hana ending up with an Alpha 🤦‍♀️.Not every omega needs to be with an Alpha,I was soo hyped for her ,I wanted her with Nora or ANY OTHER OMEGA,sooooo disappointed

"Above all, I hated not knowing where she was, how she was, if she'd slept well, if she smiled. I was hopelessly, unbearably in love with that obstinate omega, and I hated that she'd never, ever feel the same."

The sinner and the righteous, a tale as old as time.

Jaid Starhawk, a stubborn firecracker of an Omega who has a snarky mouth and whose favourite term of endearment is "piece of shit" was I think one of the most frustrating yet fun characters I have read about in a while. Her snarkiness and downright petulance were to me often quite endearing, especially as we learned more about her as a character, regarding her past, her position in her job, and in society as an Omega, and I deeply understood her fear of submission or partnership when she lived in a world that saw Omegas as naturally weak.

And I think this book does a lot of good things and a lot of bad things when it comes to exploring her dynamic with Thea, who is lawful almost to a fault and is filled with motivation to always do right for her people and the crown.

I loved the banter between our two MCs, especially at the start. The tension between them as captor and captive was very well executed with both of their personalities coming out really well through the dialogue and hijinks. The sexual chemistry was off the charts with what I think is hands down the hottest sex scenes I have ever read, 🥵 not only that but I think the use of scent compatibility added a lot to the beginning of the story.

I think once we get to the second half of the story after Jaid eventually escapes that's where the story starts to go downhill. One of my huge dislikes in romance is when characters who are supposed to be extremely competent at their jobs become idiots due to sexual attraction and both Thea and Jade do this to a point where it harms the progression and plot of the story. The discussions around class, illegal business, and the treatment of Omegas in societies get brushed to the side when I expected more from this story especially after Jade gets pregnant and the emotional tension begins to heighten.

The climax of the story is barely discussed or fully fleshed out. All the concepts that originally made this story so captivating feel left out to give Thea and Jade an HEA that doesn't feel deserved. Yes they both grow but we never truly get to see Jade as a full character after she decides to abandon her position, we never get to see them admit why they truly love each other besides sexual passion. It was hot and engrossing that's for damn sure, but overall it was a story that had a lot of potential to properly flesh out this world and the Omegaverse dynamic within it and it kinda didn't.

On the other hand, the moments of true softness and tenderness that we get from Thea and Jade are lovely. Thea is whipped from the second they meet, and her ability to read Jade and push her just enough to break down her walls kept me reading, but overall the story left quite a bit to be desired.

I think this book is great for a captivating plot with well-written smut, but the political complexity and deeply emotional romance we got from the first book is definitely not here, and that's okay, I just thought this book had a lot of potential so I came with higher expectations.

3.75 rounded. well, well, well. jaid... was SUCH a bitch. 💀 and very dis-likable at certain moments, but loyal to a fault. there were a few moments when i caught myself rolling my eyes & saying "oh brother" at some of her sentiments towards thea... cus girl. anger & insults do not have to be the default. relax. HOWEVER, the intimacy between thea & jaid was so so so good. jaid was kinky, aksoslsjksk. thea was so perfect, a perfect balance of both masculine & feminine energy. this was messy & i was rubbing my forehead cus i was like how in the hell are they gonna make this work? but overall, i was pleased. especially with the ending & the previews. i'm too excited to read book 3 in the seventh star series, a nest? i am the biggest polyam romance whore. & it's some reoccurring characters. i'm giggling & kicking my feet.

The way this book made me blush.🤭🙆🏾‍♀️🤣 Knot gonna lie this book was better than the first one 😂😂. Don't ask me how I read this so fast because I'm also shocked👁️👄👁️.

This book has a mouthy omega who's not afraid to say what she wants and is also a smuggler. She's captured by Thea who wants to take her to jail but instead ends up falling in love 🤭.

Thea’s story!

Lily X doesn’t disappoint with this well written omegaverse. This is book 2 in the Seventh Star Series. I’ve been looking forward to reading Thea’s story since I read book 1 but life got in the way. I knew I would love any story this author writes so I’m very happy I had preordered, even if it’s been a while since release.

Jaid was brilliantly written with all her feisty banter, smoldering spiciness and strength. Although they begin as enemies, there is so much chemistry between her and Thea that you have to read to see how they can truly find one another. Highly recommend!

Do I recommend this? YES YES YES.

This FF omegaverse story is such a unique spin on captive/captor romance. Even with the power balance in play, I appreciate that there was always clear consent and consideration while also still giving us some fantastic hate sex scenes.

“Stop teasing me, you piece of shit. Either put that thing in me or leave.”

”Now shut up and let me choke on you.”

Thea could obviously not say no to Jaid’s sweet requests 🤣👏🏻

Speaking of Jaid, she is my favorite type of FMC to read about. She’s sassy, smart, and cunning, and badass. Her escape attempts are not only clever and hilarious, but I love that she never gave up.

I love this world Lily X has built (How did it take me so long to find this wonderful series?!?) and I can’t wait to read more.

Little warning: This novel has the most penis out of any sapphic fiction novel I have read. By a considerable amount. Omegaverse folks might expect this – I did not.

This novel was amazing, just like the last one but for different reasons. It’s got it all: plot, great characters, serious chemistry, remarkably good spicy scenes, lots of worldbuilding, and probably whatever else you want from a novel. There is commentary on gun control and the role/authority of a government worked in! It is a longer novel, but somehow flows very quickly; at no point did I feel like it was dragging or like there were scenes that were not needed. This was honestly just a great time.

The enemies-to-lovers was done just about perfectly. Best example of hating/fighting each other while being strongly (supernaturally in this case) drawn to each other. This was done perfectly. Lots of spice.

I will remark that the worldbuilding is a little wild and potentially confusing (although not enough I think it’s a problem). The technology is all over the place (swords, but also hovercrafts?) and the larger setting isn’t really explained well, but you have enough information to follow the story just fine.

Did I mention there is just a massive amount of spice? (its like half smut, I just want you to know this going in)

Another little warning: expect bodily fluids. Like….. a lot.

I’m not going to say anything about this book except for wow! I just finished Let me be Yours and I fell in love with the author 😭 Some of the reviews scared me but I’m not one to take others opinions and run ya know? I loved the relationship between Ryn and Art. Some people hate a submissive omega but like why? I think it’s a beautiful thing especially once she came into her own and was set free from her mother, with everything she went through she deserved that happy ending. I have a few FF omegaverse stories in my vault but was always too afraid to be post them, thinking no one else craved those type stories so thank you X for being brave enough to share your story it was beautifully written and inclusive! Can’t wait to finish the rest of the series 💗💗💗💗💗

much love,

Ray ✨

I don’t even know how to start this review, so I’m just gonna get right into it.

I gave this 5 stars. I don’t often give out that rating but my god this book was everything I didn’t know I needed. I waited SO long for this book to release because after reading the first one, I knew I was hooked. I had an idea of what this would be like but it exceeded everything I even dreamed of. The sex was fucking PHENOMENAL. If I could give this a million chilis I absolutely would. If you’re not into that kind of thing? Please don’t bother, but if you’re like me and love a good romp between two characters who loathe one another? PICK. IT. UP.

Now, let’s be real here, Lily knows how to write a good story. I was not only enthralled by the explicit love scenes, I was enraptured by the story itself. I thought it was very well written. The conversations are great. The energy was palatable and I was entertained the entire way through. And now, here I am again waiting desperately for the next installment.

If Omegaverse is your cup of tea? You’re going to love this series. And if you love good sex scenes? You’re going to absolutely love this installment.

Thanks for another gem, Lily!

Lily X said this was her favourite and so far I have to agree, what a fantastic read. I absolutely love this couple, I loved the calming effect of Thea and the fire from Jaid.
I did wish that Hana’s story went differently but I am guessing that is part of the omegaverse,
Loved this and still very excited for more.

I somehow loved this book even more than the first… even though I am a sucker for enemies-to-lovers anyway, I loved the relationship between Thea and Jaid, their banter, and the believable conflict between them/obstacles they had to face. Thea had my heart and watching her soften and capture the heart of fiery, headstrong Jaid was adorable and very satisfying. I tore through this one so quick despite the higher page count and I can’t wait for the next release!

The plot and lots of things keep thickening

I had lots of fun witnessing these two fight (not that much) their attraction (if you wanna call what they have this). They were really entertaining, steamy and on top of that the main plot just got even more interesting with everything that was uncovered here and I'm excited to read the next one.

Well this was certainly a book that had words! This is supposed to be an enemies to lovers, but make no mistake, this is childish bitch and boring stoic idiot to lovers. I’m starting to think some authors do not actually understand what enemies to lovers is, and just write mean characters with no real reason why.

Words cannot truly describe how much Jaid got on my nerves. When you write a female character who’s supposed to be a strong sarcastic badass who takes no shit, why do so many authors just write them as annoying childish bitches? Like she’s not a strong woman for constantly insulting Thea, it just makes her rude and annoying. And what makes it even worse is that we don’t even really know why?? Sure we learned about her dad, but that’s not enough of a reason to me for why she’s so full of hate. Like she’s just a bitch constantly, it’s not cute or funny.

Sarcastic female characters seem to be very hard for some authors to get right without that character just coming off as mean and childish, and I just personally can’t root for a character like that in a romance. How can I possibly want them together when Jaid can’t even communicate literally ANY of her feelings without insulting Thea??

And Thea……man I expected so much more. She was so boring and dry. None of what made her interesting in the first book is in this one at all.

To each their own, if you liked this good for you. But I cannot stand when a female character is touted as a badass when all she is, is just plain insulting. That’s not badass or cool, it’s obnoxious and rude. I’m very disappointed in this one, I really wanted to like it as I loved the first book but whew! Glad it’s over and maybe I’ll keep reading, if I can find it in myself to forgive Lily X for subjecting me to 500 pages of Jaid.

I love this series so far. And I loved the story line of this book. I don't want to spoil anything but having an honorable Major General of a Army and a snarky Captain of a smuggling submarine go head to head is awesome. Be warned, the sex is hot and dirty. And it includes a large dose of girl penis and knotting.

2.5 stars - Not a huge fan of this one. Thea is just too much the stereotype of a cis straight man and i found her unbearable. They say she's different from the others but that's not really how she acts? The concept of Jaid as a character was good but it never really delivered? I thought she would be a strong character who battled equally with Thea but she just kind of took it the entire book. It is still an easy read with good writing but it made me kinda mad in the way most hetero romances do.

I still don’t know what to rate this book.

The first 300 pages of the book were just smut. I got tired and had to force myself to get to the plot. So let me review what I remember:

Jade:
She says she wants to be respected by her crew but then in the middle of impending chaos she goes ahead and has sex with Thea in the control room.
She’s repeatedly saying she can handle herself but she continuously makes decisions that make her out to look like she’s incapable of it.
Thea kills Fink -the bastard- and comes up with a plan to blame the shit show on him to protect Thea from the blowback. Which I find to be very reasonable,, I mean dead men don’t talk. But what does Jaid do?? She goes ahead and gets furious at Thea for coming up with a life saving plan and that she had no right blaming it on Fink😂. Mind you, this is plan that would keep her crew, family, her pups and herself safe. I- How do you even get mad at that??? And her excuse made absolutely no sense to me.
She was constantly angry and at one point even insulted Thea’s intelligence and accomplishments in the name of “taunting”. Wtf was that???!

Oh and how she referred to Aeryn as the “stereotypical omega” when she was exactly that but worse. Aeryn was soft but she had a good head on her shoulders. In spite of her upbringing she asked for things she wanted and pursued her hobbies or goals. And I’m guessing if she grew up in a different environment, she’d have been even better.
At one point i hated the somewhat bitchy attitude Jaid directed to Aeryn who had been nothing but nice to her. Dress it however you like but it was bitchy/rude.
And I don’t know if this is just me but there was a point it came off like she had crush on Art, at how much attention she was paying her.
She also said things like her crew wants to make their stay permanent at a mansion offered temporarily by Art, till they were out of danger. Saying things like “They deserve a home with a view after years of being at sea.” I’m like girl you all made choices but now expect everyone to accommodate y’all?! Her and the crew CHOSE to live at sea!!
I’m afraid if I keep talking about her character this would take too long.

Thea:
I loved her in the first book. Still do in this but it was overshadowed by just how many stupid mistakes she made especially at her position of power.
I could feel Art’s disappointment through the book cause why can’t you be levelheaded even a little???! You’re supposed to be the Major General. Someone who a lot of their people would trust to make sound decisions and keep them safe. Yet she just—*sigh*
Also why would she take Jaid to spend the night at her home when she was supposed to be transported back to the holding cell??? As a Major General who’s TOO LAW ABIDING shouldn’t she have followed protocol??
And I get that you’re high on love but why would you go on a mission to gain more info from Jaid, while Art waits for updates, only for you to end up fucking Jaid in her control room??
This book made her come off unreliable because her relationship troubles clouded everything else. I’m not saying don’t pay attention to the person you love but come on—she seemed incapable of making a sober decision as a leader. She couldn’t even focus in meetings with Art. The 10 year training seemed to go down the drain.

Book 2 in this gold plated series. The fact that you see characters from the first book also show up in the second book is soooooo good. Major General Newquist (Thea) and everyone's secret fantasy is a tantalizing sensation you never knew you needed. Thea is absolutely beautiful from her build to her perfect hair, from the top of her head to the tips of her toes and straight to her heart. Don't let her surprise you, Thea is a military leader and a loyal friend to King Artemis but will her actions become skewed when a smuggler gets involved, not just any smuggler but Jaid Starhawk. From capture to copulation, these two will make you laugh so hard with their witty back and forth with each other but, will absence make the heart/hearts grow fonder, will threats of war bring the two together or rip them apart. Will King Artemis ask Thea to step down from her position? Want to know, because I'm sure you do but that would be telling. This book is stuffed with the sexiest rutting scenes ever and trust me when I tell you that you your body temp will rise, your heart will throb in all places 😉and if you're like me you'll want to get into it in the privacy of your own comfort. Go get the book and all of the books. There are 7 in the series and a bonus book too called Wrath of a King. I never knew I would fall madly in love with the OV world till I was introduced to this author ❤️

it was great…

I liked this edition just as much as I liked the first one. One of the things that dragged on was the first “Heat” that carried on for over 52 pages. I was just about done with both of them. It was just too much angst. Too much stop and go. Too much dialogue and then some. I understood what Jaid was feeling. I do understand now why it had to be so long. It was solidify the premise for a relationship after this strictly “alpha/omega” coming together because of basic biology.

I also remember that Thea was the one to choose Aeryn for Artemis. When it comes to picking a “mate” she shines. She is able to see what others may miss for themselves. She’s so good that she also does it for Jaid too. Although it took Jaid a while to realize it.

We now have Rissy, Zanny, Zachary, and Zephyr. We also have the unknown baby of Hana. There is also Yogi whom I almost forgot about. And there is also the sister of Jaid, Sage. And I am just noticing that she is also derivative of the color green like her sister.

And just who is Jaid’s unnamed father? Will he be making an appearance? We see Star and Keran is around.

Will they finally catch Gregori Plowe? What about the other two of the Big 5?
