There's never a good time for a ghost crisis. However, it's particularly inconvenient while I'm trying to tackle my first wedding season. Between 12-hour days, an assistant with a case of butterfingers (not the chocolate kind), and the flood of tourists in town, I'm struggling to keep a grip on my sanity.

All I want is three months of peace from the spirit world. But when local ghosts start going missing, I have to do something. After all, it's not like they go to the Hamptons.

Missing ghosts, a posthumously alimony-hungry divorcee, and a raging bridezilla. Yup, my bingo card is officially full. Can I get a prize and go home now?

Scarlet's weekly ghost group therapy sessions take a decided turn for the worse with the arrival of two demanding ghosts. Making matters worse local ghosts are disappearing and it's possible they are being ghost-napped.

Wedding season is in full swing. Unfortunately her first wedding comes with Kimberly, the bride from hell. First time I’ve read a book with a character bearing my name and she’s a bitch. Why? Lucas, the love interest from book one, a security specialist, is coming for a visit and Scarlett’s ghostly companion, a Victorian era gentlemen is all sixes and sevens because local gossip diva and fellow ghost Gwen, has a new love interest. It’s enough to make a certain young florist pull her hair out…but as we know with Garrett things are going to get worse before they get better.

Kimberly ends up murdered, and a client’s dead wife is haunting Scarlett. If she wants any peace she will need to help them crossover.

I enjoyed the murder-mystery thread and liked that Lucas could step in and assist. The ghosts surrounding Scarlett add to the story and bring both humor and suspense. Flapjack, her ghostly cat companion is snarky. I can picture him rolling his eyes in disgust as events unfold.

As if things aren’t crazy enough, ghosts within the community go missing including Gwen’s new bo. This was a great thread and took a dark turn. It also pushed Scarlett to open a book given to her. I am exciting to see where this takes the series.

Humor, mystery, friendship and a touch of romance made this an enjoyable listen. Amanda Ronconi narrates and does a splendid job with character voices and pacing as she captures the tone of the tale. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

It was okay. The secondary characters are funny, I will give them that. Scarlett can be at times funny and at others incredibly frustrating. Running away instead of staying and talking through her issues/fears was just 🙄🙄🙄. Poor Lucas.

Ghosts Gone Wild is the second story in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. After meeting Scarlet the “ghost whisper” and learning of her talents in the first book (and prequel short stories), I felt the author did a great job ramping up Scarlet’s personality and abilities. With so many ghost around and an abundant supply of potential murder victims (in the volume of tourists that visit the small town), the author could have coasted on a set formula for her books. However, Ms. Garrett doesn’t let Scarlet rest easy.

First, let me talk about Scarlet… She’s been able to see and communicate with ghosts since she was a child. While we get glimpses of what knowledge she’s gathered over the years, in Ghosts Gone Wild, Scarlet must really stretch her understanding of the dead, giving her the opportunity to grow both in ability and in knowledge. And the more one knows, the more one realizes they DON’T know, so the door has opened for Scarlet, and I look forward to seeing where she goes with her gifts.

I also appreciate that the “formula” for ghosts and mysteries is different in book two. While Scarlet once again must deal with a departed soul who has an axe to grind (unfinished business), she also has to deal with an active murder investigation AND the disappearance of her local ghostly friends. The story is complex and interesting, and more than just a simple cozy mystery.

Finally, I adore that Scarlet has a serious love interest in security expert Lucas. While there was a spark of romance in the first book, things get more serious in Ghosts Gone Wild when Lucas returns on his mid-season break to spend several weeks with Scarlet. I adore watching Scarlet get both excited and panic when dealing with her growing feelings. The author does a great job giving listeners a romance without overshadowing the main story.

Narration: I’ve been listening to Amanda Ronconi read the original series and now this spin-off for over a half dozen books, and she has consistently done a wonderful job. The Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries is voiced from the first person POV of Scarlet. Ms. Ronconi captures Scarlet’s kindness, generosity, and determination. But also convincingly voices her frustration when called for. Additionally, Ms. Ronconi gives each of the three primary ghost regulars distinct and appropriate voices. Finally, her male voices are generally deeper and fitting.

Overall, I really enjoyed Ghosts Gone Wild - the whole story felt tighter, more engaging, more complex than the first book, The Ghost Hunter Next Door. The narration really blossomed as well - with most of the characters being ghosts, Ms. Ronconi has put a lot of “life” and variety into their overall sound.

The title is definitely apropos in this one. Two she-devil ghosts tug back and forth at Scarlett to solve their otherworldly problems, Gwen starts seeing another ghost leaving poor Hayward devastated, and now ghosts are going missing. Meanwhile, Scarlett gets a visit from Lucas on his vacation and she starts to panic because she's out of her depth. And, her flower shop assistant is a constant calamity. Has the world gone mad, she wonders?

Ghosts Gone Wild is the second of the Beechwood Harbor Ghost mysteries. The first book set up the world and connected things to the earlier series while establishing this ghost-filled side world of mysteries with Scarlett in the lead. Scarlett has two live in ghosts- her former cat, Flapjack, now gifted with speech that is sarcasm 24/7 and does the job of both stirring things up and grounding them when necessary. There is Hayward, a Victorian era ghost, with Old-World gentleman charm who has a crush on Gwen and is so devastatingly sweet and reticent that he can't bring himself to approach her. Gwen, a once hippie, ghosts around the town keeping up with the local gossip, human and ghostly, and is friends with Scarlett and the others at the flower shop.

I thought it was interesting to see the relationship dynamics play a larger role in this one including the glaring issue that Scarlett is more in tune to the ghost world than her own human world. She is terrified that Lucas will pull back so she nearly self-sabotages her own relationship to save him the trouble. I foresee this staying an ongoing problem because Scarlett looks for reasons to back away when none exist. I hope she can get over it soon.

The mystery in this one was actually more than one with bridezilla Kimberly's murder, devil divorcee wife's blackmail haunting of her ex, and then Gwen bringing up that ghosts are disappearing.

I confess that I felt Scar was somewhat all over the place in this one. She's back and forth with Lucas who has been honest and open all along. She's helpful to the most obnoxious ghosts and ignores her old ghost friend's genuine concern. I liked the story well enough, but I did give Scarlett a few side-eyes. We'll see what happens in the next book.

Amanda Ronconi was a great narrator as usual. I love the way she voices each ghost and person in the cast both male and female. She has a knack for the comedy elements and the blend of paranormal and mystery.

This was light and fun with a few nice little series developments and some excitement in the big confrontation scene. The mystery of who killed Kimberly was not that tough, but the disappearing ghosts was one that came out of left field. I enjoyed both.

I can recommend this series to those who enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries. I'm doing fine jumping in with this spin off, but I can see how starting with the earlier Beechwood Harbor Magic series would probably be even better.

My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a cute series full of charming characters!

I will say, Flapjack grew on me and now I love his sassy and snarky fluffy ghostly self lol.

I do wish something was different about the ending. It’s nothing too major, so I’m okay with it, I just wish we got the chance to explore it a bit more. (It has to do with Lucas and Scarlett)

However, upon the ending of this second book, I am very much looking forward to exploring more of Scarlett’s character and her abilities.

Overall, I’m glad that I stumbled upon this cozy mystery series and am excited to continue it! I also plan on reading Holly’s series once I finish Scarlett’s journey. Maybe I should have started with Holly’s series but I didn’t know it existed until I finished the first book in this series…oops. I’m sure it doesn’t matter a whole lot, I hope?

Time for the next book! ☺️

I recently reviewed Betwixt which has a variety of novellas set in the town, and is a bridge between Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries and the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries , and introduces Scarlet.  Ghost Hunter Next Door is the first in her series.  The books of both series are in Kindle Unlimited.

Now we are in the thick of things, as Scarlet is in the busy wedding season for her shop, trying to handle her relationship with Lucas, and deal with some crazy ghost issues.   Of course, there's a murder in the mix also.  She has so much happening, it's no wonder she's tired, can't please everyone,  and she doesn't get much support from her ghost friends in this round.

I really enjoyed the personal growth Scarlet had in Ghosts Gone Wild.  She was forced to set some boundaries with the ghosts. She also learned some things about having a relationship with Lucas. Most interesting, she has started to learn more about herself and her capabilities, as well as learning more about ghosts also.   Next up is When Good Ghosts Get the Blues.

Narration:
Amanda Ronconi is a well-loved narrator and handles this series well.   I listened at my usual 1.5x speed.  The voices were distinct for the small number of primary characters, both male and female voices.  She certainly nailed the voice of the annoying Kimberly.

Ghost Whisperer Scarlett's flower shop is a success, and she is busy enough to hire an assistant. When one of her main customers turns up dead and ghosts start to disappear, her old flame and security guard Kevin conveniently shows up to help to sort this out.

How disappointing. After a great start with book 1 in the series (The Ghost Hunter Next Door) this book literally has "gone wild".
First of all extremely sloppy editing with people/objects disappearing/reappearing, sometimes it feels as if several paragraphs are missing, and towards the last third of the book, when I finally started high lighting my WTFs, I managed to have no less than 19(!) notes about how stupid the protagonists were acting. Ouch.
Last but not least of those is lovesick Kevin, who spends his 2 month vacation in a hotel where he patiently waits for Scarlett to have supper with him after closing up her shop. Not as if that gets him into her pants. This is the most annoyingly clean read I've ever had, and I don't even think the author is aware of this ridiculous situation. It was just not important enough to her to explain what this guy is doing all day long when he is not adoring Scarlett over dinner. Who, btw, can not make up her mind if vanilla latte or hazelnut latte is her favorite. Depends on the chapter in the book, I guess.

In general I like the writing style of the author. And I like the basic story line. I will probably give book 3 a chance, but for now I need to read something else to give my brain the time to calm down.

Not recommended.

It’s Scarlets first major wedding job and she has to deal with the worst bridezilla in history. Then she is contacted by a local to do something about his dead wife who is haunting him. And local ghosts are missing. There is a lot happening in this book.
The bridezilla gets murdered and her ghost isn’t any nicer than she was alive, the dead wife ghost has an ultimatum for her husband and both are making life difficult for Scarlet.
Accompanied by her faithful ghost cat, ghost friends and Lucas, Scarlet sets out to make things right for everyone.
This has a couple of entertaining mysteries happening, great characters, humour and some romance.
It is a quick easy read.

"Ghosts Gone Wild " is a strong second volume for the "Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery" series. This evenly paced cozy builds on the first without becoming redundant or derivative. Thus the core set of slightly goofy ghosts and their human guardian are now joined by a few colorful new ghosts and challenged by a completely new set of problems. Expect a ghost demanding alimony, more romantic confusion for Scarlet and Lucas, a bridezilla that even death cannot tame, mysterious disappearances, Flapjack the talking ghost cat giving everyone a piece of his mind, the man cave to top all man caves and a few interesting hints about Scarlet's future adventures.

3.5⭐️. If you like the television show Ghosts, you will like this series! Much like the show, the supporting characters are the best part. Scarlett can be funny and the banter between her and Lucas is cute, but she's also irritating sometimes and gets in her own way. There are small inconsistencies but not enough to ruin the book for me.

Lots of fun. Still enjoying that the plot of this book was more than just solving a murder. We get to learn more about the protagonists group of ghostly friends, follow a budding romance, and get a sneak peak at how her skills might be ready to grow. Plus Holly from the other series in this world makes an appearance.

Scarlet's business is picking up. Tourist season is in swing and the B&B renovated by a reality show has promised to send all floral business her way, starting with a bridezilla, Kimberly. Unfortunately, Scarlet isn't the only person that Kimberly has upset. When Kimberly ends up dead, she is no more pleasant than she was in life. And Scarlet is also juggling a dead ex-wife who is haunting her very living husband. Oh. And then there's the little matter of ghosts in town that are disappearing.
This book was okay but I am seeing the same problem starting to develop in this series that Garrett has in her Magic series, a super weak and therefore especially annoying love triangle. Let Scarlet figure her stuff out with Lucas. Stop throwing other characters (in this case, Jason) and implying that they might be better suited. It's a worn out trope and, while lightly used in this series, is still annoying. Also, the end of the ghost mystery was sudden and out of left field, no clues provided. It might have been better served with a slower build and more clues in the next book.

Scarlet has been able to see and talk to ghosts all of her life. The past year she took the inheritance her grandmother had left her and opened a florist shop in Beechwood Harbor. She lives above the shop with two ghosts, Hayward and her former childhood cat, Flapjack. Other ghosts came and went as they needed help from Scar, and one in particular, Gwen, kept her connected to all the gossip in town.

When Scarlet is hired to do the flowers for a society wedding at the newly renovated Lilac B & B, the downside of the job was dealing with the bridezilla Kimberly, who changed her mind on what she wanted more often than most people changed clothes. Snobbish and clearly not wanting to deal with Scarlet, Kimberly was a constant thorn in her side. Kimberly's wedding planner, Sonya was much easier to deal with and sympathetic about Kimberly's caustic personality.

Meanwhile Scar's hired help at the shop was an accident waiting to happen, and you didn't have to wait very long for Lizzie to break something or cause an accident of some sort. However since the ghosts don't help, Scar needs someone around the shop to keep the business running smoothly. And since no one can know that she sees and talks to ghosts, Scarlet has to be tight lipped in the shop to make sure Lizzie or customers don't hear her talking to the various ghosts.

One person who knows about this special ability is Lucas Green. Lucas and Scarlet met in the first book when he was in town working on a television program about renovating the Lilac B & B. Lucas has time off in the summer from taping the TV show, so he comes to see Scarlet and kindle the romance they have started.

A glorious summer is interrupted by missing ghosts, new ghosts with demands, a murder, and another new ghost. Lucas may not be able to see or hear the ghosts like Scar can, but he joins forces with her to try and solve the various problems they are having.

This is a fun book about a different aspect of life in Beechwood Harbor from Danielle Garrett's other series about Holly and the paranormals she lives with. There is overlap of characters and businesses, but essentially you don't have to have read that series to appreciate or understand this one. You will, however, enjoy this second book about Scarlet much more if you have already read the first book which is called The Ghost Hunter Next Door: A Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery.

Ms Garrett's mixture of paranormal and normal is a seamless joining of both worlds with most people none the wiser. I enjoy her variety of ghosts and their concerns that they share with Scarlet. The personalities of the ghosts are used to poke fun at times, and also to show that even ghosts can have problems.

This delightful book should be read and enjoyed by all ages without need to censor. It is entertainment and mystery combined into a fun to read installment in a good series.

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Narration 5 Story 4

Scarlett has been managing her new business, and hoping that the ghosts in town will just all take a collective cleansing breath and give her a break. But, that’s apparently not to be – and when you add on the bride from Hell in Kimberly, Scarlett’s reserves are running on empty and her assistant causing more issues than she solves – things can’t get worse. Or can they? See, in Scarlett’s world, it’s never a safe bet to ask that question because it seems that “BAM” everything starts to go pear shaped: the bride turns up dead, Gwen the ghost has a new love interest which sends Scarlett’s ghostly gentleman companion into a huge case of the worries, Lucas the security guard is in town for a visit and if that’s not enough, she’s got a client’s dead wife to help cross over…….

When you add in the fact that Lucas can help in the investigations, even as Flapjack (the ghostly cat) seems to exude snark and that certain ‘cat-like” dismissal of all the events as they unfold, the story is twisty, funny and clever – keeping everyone engaged and intrigued as the threads untangle and culprits and issues are found and sorted. When local community ghosts start to go missing, the tensions rise another few degrees, especially when Gwen’s new love interest is counted among the no longer there. A book that Scarlett was given has lingered unopened, and with the new dark twist with missing ghosts and some unspecified dangers, the story added levels of darkness and some intrigue that are sure to prove interesting as the series continues. A wonderful installment that builds more of the world and characters around Scarlett, and fits her into the small town of Beechwood Harbor like a puzzle piece.

Narration for this series is provided by Amanda Ronconi, and she’s managed to carry a continuity of voices for each of the characters, allowing them to stand distinct and easily recognized, while not confusing the listener. Each character is distinct and unique, with tone, delivery and emotional range that fits both the story and the character, and shows both her understanding of the story and provides the listener with the sense that she is enjoying the twists and turns as much as you are. A lovely performance, Ronconi excels at these ‘quirky’ character stories that are action packed, laced with humor and some truly over the top characters.

Wowza! The second mystery was quite a an adventure. It was quite a fun and cozy mystery adventure with our heroine Scarlet. This time around Scarlet is dealing with the tumultuous dealings with a Bridezilla, having to play negotiator with a scorned ghost and her ex husband and lastly the strange disappearances of ghosts throughout Beechwood Habor. To say Scarlet has a lot on her plate is an understatement.

The audiobook was fun and I was just engrossed in the story. Scarlet is such a down to earth ghost whisperer that not a moment in the book did she really take a break. I like how Holly makes regular appearances and the dynamic of the characters flows. I like how we learn about the ghosts throughout the story more than the previous book. Again, I cant pin point the timeline of the story because it seems that Posey is in the story and if you read the Beechwood Magic Mysteries series you'd know. (wont spoil that series but definitely worth a listen in an audiobook or a read)

Mystery Wise: The story has three plots going on. Each are smoothly transitioned too and mesh well. I dont think I was confused at all. Scarlet has to help a Bridzilla who is just unbearable to hang around with. Something happens and Scarlet is left having to deal with the mystery that arises from that situation. The next mystery is with a Scored ghost and her ex husband. The ex husband who is a wealthy doctor inlists Scarlet's help to rid the ghost of his ex wife. His ex-wife is haunting him to get the alimony checks to her son who she had after the divorce with a younger guy. This was although comedic was a like not expecting gonna end on a happy note, but wont spoil it.lol. The last mystery is ghosts disappearing. Which would sound weird but Scarlet after being pursuded by Gwen to look into the matter after one of the ghosts they know goes missing. It's quite a head scratcher and when the reveal happens it's almost action packed. Quite the page/ear turner. lol

Romance Wise: So Sherriff Jason is back and Scarlet makes it clear that she's not into him and that shes into Lucas. Luscious Lucas makes a return and the relationship is tested. Sorta. But She grows more with Lucas and he even supports her Ghost Whispering abilities, even accompanies her on an the investigations as well as the last event in the book. We get a glimpse of this long distance relationship. Will it last? Will there be a something that flings these to together or appart. Only time will tell in the series.

All in all, definitely recommend the book. It's quite an adventure from the last one and was definitely keeping me hooked on the series.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

This is the second book in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery series. I enjoyed book one, but this one is even more fun. Scarlett is really coming into her own. So Scarlett is trying to run her new florist shop business and handling the ghosts of Beechwood Harbor.

She gets a call from a man who’s ex-wife died not that long ago and she’s haunting him years after his divorce. Scarlett finally agrees to help the man, though she really doesn’t have the time to do it. The ex-wife was her alimony checks to be given to her young son from her second marriage.

Add to that, Scarlett has quite the bridezilla who hates everything that Scarlett does and changes her mind on a constant bases. She is going to be the first wedding at the newly renovated B&B from the first book. She has an exclusive contract with the B&B, so she has no choice but to work with Scarlett.

Add to all of this, Lucas has come in to visit. Lucas was a possible relationship interest from the first book. He travels a lot with the TV crew as head of security, so they don’t get to spend a lot of time together. This is his first visit since they worked together at the B&B. Of course, things couldn’t be easy for them to just spend time together.

As if this wasn’t enough, ghosts are going missing. Scarlett makes Gwen really mad when Scarlett appears to be dealing with new ghosts more than the long-timers who are missing. So much is going on that even Hayward gets flustered, which is rare for the old ghost.

This was a fun addition to the series. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next. I’m really loving my time with Scarlet and the gang.

Narration
Amanda Ronconi continues to nail the narration of this series. Anyone who has listened to her narrate anything knows how great she is with fun and humorous stories. She really brings out the humor of any story. She’s great with large cast, no matter how many men or women. Here, she even narrates a cat named Flapjack.
