Following a tragic turn of events, my once-normal teenage life gets wrenched out from under me.
Suddenly I’m the new kid at Lost Lake Academy, a boarding school for the elite of the elite. The students here are nothing like me, and all I want to do is get back home to pick up the pieces of my former life.
I’m determined to keep my head down and avoid high school politics, but when three of the most dangerous and mysterious of my classmates set their sights on me, I find I don’t know whether to run away or try to get closer.
Everyone at Lost Lake has secrets, some more deadly than others. But not everything is as it seems…I might have some secrets of my own.
This series deserves all five stars, no hesitation.
What really made Lost Lake Academy stand out for me is the relationships all of them. Romantic, platonic, found family… everything felt natural, supportive, and emotionally grounded. And let me be clear: finding an academy romance where the characters actually communicate and don’t thrive on unnecessary toxicity? Rare.
The story balances drama and healing really well. There is tension, secrets, and past trauma, but it never feels exploitative or dragged out just to hurt the characters (or the reader). Instead, you actually get growth. People choosing to be better. I kept reading thinking, “Yes. This is how it should be.”
The FMC’s journey is especially satisfying watching her rebuild her sense of safety and trust without losing herself felt real and earned. And the dynamics within the group? Protective without being suffocating, emotional without being melodramatic.
Is it the darkest academy series out there? No. Is it one of the most emotionally comforting while still being engaging? Absolutely.
I liked this series. I thought the relationships developed appropriately. The plot was interesting. I think our MC's were pretty dumb occasionally, but I guess that's forgiveable since they are so young. It was an interesting read and I enjoyed it.
Great from beginning to end. The twists and turns were plenty, the suspense kept you guessing. I really enjoyed it very much. The characters were awesome, and the world building was superb. I highly recommend this trilogy.
To be honest I generally read books with amazing covers, but what caught my eye with this one was the title. This was a good read and a good find. I loved it.
An enjoyable and interesting storyline. The author provides a good pace, with a few "darkish" elements, and an h that is balanced bad-ass and vulnerable, with typical idiotic MMC who redeems themselves.
