Disappointing and upsetting

I’d like to start this review by saying I was very excited about the plot line of this story.

Okay, so I started this book with high expectations. I sampled it before I purchased the kindle edition of it. I enjoyed the internal dialogue of the FMC and was expecting it to show some depth of character as the story progressed. It did not.
Things I didn’t like.
1.Fade to black. (There was absolutely no romance in this book and my personal preferences leans towards romance)
2. Rape on the page. (There should be a trigger warning for this book! It caught me off guard and upset me immensely. There was more detail in the rape scene than in the scenes between a man and wife)
3. No character development. (The characters were surface level and didn’t evolve at all)
4. Suicide attempt. (Once again without a trigger warning)
5. Ending came abruptly and didn’t make sense.
6. Very repetitive. (Described the mother character the same way throughout the story)
I finished it only because I had paid money for it.

From a reel I saw on Instagram, I jumped to this novel expecting a fluffy romance between a mute princess and a knight who yearned for her for a long time. And it was not… that was my problem, not reading the synopsis. It had a new character that I had never read about. It really was bingeable; I read it in three days.
I liked how the story portrayed the angle of how the situation can affect the FMC. It is not easy to shed the traumatic experiences she has gone throughout her childhood easily. I liked how the growth spanned (until the end).
The next part of my review has spoilers:
Ok, I have no issues with having one POV. But the communication with MMC was so little, in the end, I wanted to butt their heads together; they were being childish by having people in between trying to improve their relationship. At the beginning, I liked their help but thought the couple would talk directly later. However, I was stunned at the end by what the couple was satisfied with since it was a little instant lovey.
I was disappointed we didn’t get more about the youngest sibling, especially when we were going through the forest!! It was a wasted opportunity to say goodbye to her sister. And the suicide… the idea through her head was understandable in her situation since she wasn’t communicating with her partner well. But sadly, the ending wrapped so badly since everything was going so fast. I wish she hadn’t brought suicide if she hadn’t given it the time it needed.

A Silent Discovery is an imaginative, romantic novel that speaks volumes about unspoken love growing through gestures and what attraction means beyond the surface of appearance and the gossip of others. I devoured this book in a single sitting enjoying the vivid imagery described by the author of foreign landscapes and emotion of loyal tenderness. It truly captures the quiet beauty of an unlikely couple of opposites overcoming the odds and sharing a love that no one else quite understands. Timeless.
