Veronica Daniels was a woman who relied on her good looks and wit to get her everything she wanted in life. Ever since she was a child her mother along with everyone she knew told her as much. “You're so beautiful, or you’re the prettiest girl in the room and her personal favorite compliment; one day you’re going to break a lot of hearts.” Veronica reveled in those compliments. So much so that she believed every single word that had been spoken about her looks. She had learned to charm the country as an adorable pageant winner. Her well-maintained hair, beautiful custom dresses, and charismatic smile won the hearts of many. Veronica learned at a very young age that she had a way with words. Her well-thought-out responses or the tone and delivery of her words landed on all those listening which usually resulted in getting her way.
Life had been good to Veronica. She had been married four times and managed to outlive all of her husbands. Her ability to catch the big whale, some would say was luck, but not Veronica. It was an art; one she had perfectly crafted over the years. The One-part brains, one part sex, and two parts beauty, because according to Veronica no man wants an ugly duckling who was too smart for her own good. And hell, even she knew every woman had a vagina, so sex would one get a man to the bedroom, but to get the whole house and the ring you needed to be pretty in the face and small in the waist. And since Veronica had managed to marry some of the most eligible wealthy men around, she might be on to something.
Until now Veronica was in a class of her own all by herself, that is until she gave birth to her daughters, Shandral, Stephanie, and Skylar. The Daniel sisters were heartbreakers. From day one they stole their father’s heart. Their beauty surpassed their mothers. And before long, Veronica noticed just how much of her desired attention was stolen by her daughters. It wasn’t just her husband, but others noticed the girls' beauty especially as they grew up. As the Daniel sisters matured so did their beauty. They were breathtakingly gorgeous and a threat to their mother’s existence.
Not to be outdone, Veronica Daniels will always have the last word. With money, power, and beauty on her side, nothing will stop her from being the most beautiful woman in the room and the desire of every man she encounters.
Lordt! It has been a minute since I've come across a book with a character I definitely can't stand. Veronica puts the whole HOE in the word hoe. Imagine having a mother who is beautiful, power hungry, money hungry, and conniving. Now imagine the fact that you're her child not meaning you'll be spared from her bull. This book proved that when a woman is powerful and the men around her are weak there is no bounds to what can happen. I had high hopes that her daughters would get some vindication in the end, but sometimes pure EVIL actually does win.
Veronica Daniels is a selfish, vindictive widowed mother of three grown daughters. She's on a mission to get them all married, in order to receive all of her inheritance. There's only one problem…she will sleep with anybody and everybody in order to get her way, including the men in her daughter's lives.
The storyline is crazy and my least favorite character, Veronica, is even crazier. This was my first read by @a_a_lewis716, but it certainly won't be the last. I immediately searched my personal and Kindle library for more books.
I enjoyed this read about a scandalous, no moral having mother. She didn't care about anyone but herself. Veronica's antics had my mouth agape. I know there are mothers like her in the world, and it ticks me off. I really wish the book had ended differently. EyeCU Reading Approved
This book is cringy! Who needs enemies with a “mother” like this conniving, hateful, whoring tramp. Those daughters deserved so much better than what that lady put them through. Then for all 3 of the girls significant others to sleep with Veronica was so messed up. There should have been some karma in this for Veronica because she shouldn’t have been able to still be on her pedestal for what she did to her daughters.
Wow. I cannot believe the story ended this way. I just knew that she was going to mess up somewhere down the line. Or Skylar was going to be on her heavy. Great read
Mommie Dearest ain’t got nothing on Veronica Daniels!!!! Whew Chile! This is the messiest momma ever. With family like this, who needs enemies. This woman will have you side-eyeing everybody in your life. This is definitely a fast pace, quick read layered with drama and sexy nastiness. Be prepared to be appalled and aroused.

M.I.L by A.A. Lewis was a quick read. This was my first novel by this author. If there was an award for most hated female character, Veronica would definitely win! To say I HATED her is an understatement. Veronica reminds me that, not all women are ment to be mothers. If you're looking for a quick read in-between reads, this would be it.
This book was scandalous. The story was well thought out and full of betrayal and horrible parenting. Although I would suggest additional editing, I really look forward to this story continuing. There is so much more to unpack here.
If there were a picture in the dictionary for toxic, narsisistic not figure, Veronica Daniels would be it. This dysfunctional, manipulative, emotionally and mentally abusive woman (used loosely) care about nothing but herself and they money. She would do any and everything to ensure she got what she wanted. Daughters be damned.
Veronica has earned her spot in the top 5 it may just hated characters.
I was engaged and invested in seeing what it foolishness unfolded. There were a few editing mistakes that could not be overlooked so, I'm giving this read 3.5 stars.
It’s all about the business. Momma didn’t play, she was honest and owned all her ish! She tried to warn Skylar not to mess with her, she learned today ! 🤣
I started not to leave a review since my opinion was this low, but sometimes constructive criticism can be helpful, if taken in the spirit it's given. The main character was despicable but of course, that was the goal, apparently. Mission accomplished on that. And I could run down a long list of my issues but I'll just keep it to the main stuff: - The editing was a big issue. A BIG one. A mistake here and there is no biggie but there were more than a few. - There were several contradictions, like one minute she's saying she can't stand her daughter then a few paragraphs later, she's hoping they could be friends. - I started to DNF but I'll admit that I was curious to see how it would end, and since it wasn't that long of a book, I forged ahead. I'll say, I didn't love the ending but of course that's subjective. - Was it ever said what was in the pink envelope given to Skylar? And the daughters confrontation towards the end seemed so out of the blue that it was nonsensical. That's just an example of things that didn't make sense to me.
I'll leave it at that. As awful and/or spineless as most of these characters were, the story was actually intriguing. It just could have been executed way, way better, in my opinion.
The typos and grammar made it so difficult to get through a bunch of it but if you removed alllll of that it’s a decent book. I knew from reviews the MC wasn’t worth sh*t 😂 so it was no surprise and I expected it. Made me enjoy the book as much as I did. The ending wasn’t as bad as I read in reviews. It was on par with the character .. lol The spicy 🌶️ scenes made the book!
This is the first time I’ve read a book by A. A. Lewis. I downloaded this book because of an IG reel that @britandherbooks made. I thought I was going into “M.I.L.” being prepared for all of the fuckery that was going to happen, but I👏🏾 was👏🏾 not👏🏾 pre👏🏾pared.👏🏾
“M.I.L.” is written in first-person perspective and follows Veronica as she plans and prepares for her daughters’ impending nuptials while also navigating her many “romantic” escapades.
Veronica isn’t a character to root for. She’s very manipulative and conniving and will do whatever she can to get her way, even if it hurts someone close to her. It’s like she’s a psychopath (the author doesn’t use that word, but Veronica’s actions line up with that disorder).
If you’re in the mood to read something that’ll have your jaw on the floor, this is the book to read.
🚨 ENTERING SPOILERS 🚨
Veronica was popping that cat for damn near every 🥷🏾 in this book. Of the two “safe” 🥷🏾s, one ends up assaulting her and the other was a pastor so she wanted no parts of that. Literally NONE of the men in this book are good men. Every time I thought a man would tell Veronica “no”, he became putty in her hands.
Of her sexual conquests, I really thought Veronica and Brandon had something special (I mean as special as it could be given the circumstances) and were going to be together for real for real. Veronica laughed in Brandon and my faces when that conversation came up 😂
And with the way Veronica was getting around unprotected, I assumed she went through menopause, had her tubes tied, or something. Imagine my surprise when the epilogue came about lol. I wanna know who Christian’s daddy is. Veronica was open and truthful with us throughout the book but now she don’t wanna reveal the daddy? Nah bruh.
And bruh. I felt so bad for Shandral, Stephanie, and Skylar. The things Veronica said to them were so hurtful. I can’t imagine hearing my mama tell me she never wanted to be my mama as well as the other hurtful and hateful things Veronica spewed.
Veronica Daniels: If, “queen of the castle,” was a person it would be Veronica. She had no problem moving all the pieces on the chessboard.
Skylar Daniels: If, “more like my mother than I thought,” was a person it would be Skylar. She was a fighter through and through.
Shandral Daniels: If, “pick me,” was a person it would be Shandral. She would do anything for her mother’s approval.
Stephanie Daniels: If, “can you do it,” was a person it would be Stephanie. She was in constant need of direction.
A.A. Lewis has made it her mission to keep these sister’s shook lol. Even going into this story kind of knowing what it was about we weren’t ready to meet Veronica Daniels. This is a story about a woman who is more than okay with choosing herself. Veronica lives her life as the game master, and she joyfully moves her pieces over the board without a care in the world of who or what she might affect. Veronica is sexy, classy, feisty, and more intelligent than people give her credit for. In this story you get to dive into the black elite with all the lust and lies that come with it. This story was like nothing else we’ve read.
This damn mama was rotten to the core, but I could not put this book down. I had to see what move she was gonna make next and whew, when I say she made some wild moves, BABY! She did not come to play with nobody.
Now mind you, she was wrong as hell in everything she did, straight scandalous, yet somehow she still came out on top every single time. Make it make sense ughhh. Nobody needs a mother like her. Hell to the nah nah nah.
That ending had me sitting there like wait… who the damn daddy?! My goodness. Have mercy. I’m definitely picking up the spin-off about the son because I need answers.
If narcissism was a woman, she would be named Veronica Daniel’s! I don’t want to get to far in-depth and give any spoilers away so I’ll be brief. If you like sex, money, and a fairly un-likable anti-heroine who is about self and will do anything or hurt anyone who gets in the way of her desires, this is the book for you! The author’s execution of storytelling and description are flawless! I plan to be a reader and fan for life!!
Veronica was a true piece of work. She had a lot going on with her vindictive, scheming, and often heartless ways. The story was well plotted and a smooth read. There were lots of errors throughout the book but they didn't necessarily distract from the story. All in all, the writing was good though I felt the number of sex scenes was excessive. That being said I would definitely read another book by this author because she is a good writer.
A. A. Lewis knew what she was doing when she created the dysfunctional and abusive matriarchal character in this book. From start to finish, Veronica was consistent in looking out for Veronica. Mother Dearest has nothing on Veronica Daniels.
This book had over the top abuse, scandalous behavior and sex!!!
Author should have book edited again because there were numerous errors that take away from the story.
It is 2:35am, way past my bedtime. I couldn’t put this book down. Veronica is something else, I don’t know what that something is, but she’s it. SMH. I’m a little mad about that cliffhanger tease at the end… I wanna know who it is Ms. Lewis!?!?
I have never read something so messy in my life oh my goodness, Veronica is so spiteful and vindictive, I was screaming at her the entire book to get a damn grip! Definitely worth the quick read.
There is much to learn about this personality type~ the empty beautifuls. The author explores the main character's personality type, the empty beautifuls, and how she engages, disengages, forms, fashions her daughters, which ultimately benefits Us as Readers to explore mother~ daughter relationships and alllll the challenges of Our mother~daughter relationships which is a topic too uncharted. This is a good book club discussion book. KUDOS A.A.!!!

Veronica Daniels was an entire mess, she was not the motherly type and she did unspeakable things to her daughters. This story had my mouth open the entire time. You thought she had her daughters best interest at heart, but she only had hers. A A Lewis wrote this story to perfection. I have never disliked a person as much I disliked her. She could never pull me to her side. Veronica Daniel's was like an evil genius. A A Lewis writing has me pulled in and can't let go even though these characters are a mess!!
Oh wow.... Just off the title alone, I was surely expecting to read about something completely different. I mean it has me hooked on the first page. The mom was crazy. Good read though lol
Girl.. that M.L.L was something else. I loved everything about this story. I love her Hustle even though she went about it in a non-traditional way, she got what she wanted.
This was a good story, but I was not happy with the ending. I was hoping Skylar would come through. Talk about the mother from hell, she treated her daughters like shit.
First and foremost: WHO is that child’s daddy? You can’t leave me hanging like this, the suspense is killing me! 😭😭🤣
This was a great read. Veronica had me over here SCREAMING throughout the entire book! The way she read them girls for filth at the end had me over here DEAD. If you’re thinking about grabbing this book, don’t hesitate. Just hit that ‘buy now’ button. Thank me later.
This story was so amazing. A mother such as this is one you would think don't exist. This woman is totally off the chain. I'm glad all mothers are not like her cause if they were these would really be some messed up children more than normal. An unforgettable story. Mother-In-Law from HELL.
