Have a persistent, underlying feeling of guilt? Or, simply not living up to your full potential?
You want to make a change. Build your business, make more money, lose that extra weight, whatever…
You vow to yourself that tomorrow you are going to make it happen! This time it will be different.
But tomorrow comes and you don’t get started. And even if you do get started, some hidden force keeps you from committing to the changes you made.
In short, you sabotage yourself.
In this book, you will learn why you are sabotaging yourself from getting what you want but more importantly, exactly what to do about it.
Author Jennie Potter was an “emotional sponge” as a child. She has always had the ability to “see” people’s feelings and emotions and it has guided her entire life.
After two decades of personal experience, study, and client work, she is finally releasing her knowledge, wisdom, and practices into a short, powerful book to help people get out of their own way once and for all. “Self Sabotage No More” are the mindsets and methods that Jennie’s been sharing and using with clients to great success and transformational results.
Some of what Jennie will be teaching you
• Why your “autopilot” reaction is often to self-sabotage
• How to change your sabotage filters
• The role your energy and vibration play in self-sabotage
• Why and how emotions get “stuck” in processing
• The way to identify and release “sabotage setpoints” that can limit every area of your life
• A specific process called the ALARM method for releasing and resetting sabotage emotions and beliefs
• The three most powerful ways to change your vibration and how to use each in your daily life
• How to move forward after identifying, releasing, and resetting

This is, without a doubt, a great little book. It has a friendly feel to it, since it discusses the author’s own experiences, and the experiences of several of the clients she has helped.
Author Jennie Porter tells the reader that self sabotage is a common thing, and that those who self sabotage are not alone.
She explains that the reasons for self sabotage are many fold, and that if we don’t already know why we are doing it, then our subconscious does - it’s due to unprocessed emotions that hold us back.
Porter has put together her very own technique for releasing these unprocessed emotions from the body and mind. Porter may borrow ideas from elsewhere, such as applied kinesiology, acceptance and commitment therapy, law of attraction, prayer, the gratitude attitude, and so on, but even though the self-help genre is my favourite niche, I have never seen these different concepts put together in quite this way before. I’d say it’s unique.
I feel like it’s very much in tune with similar books out there, but what sets this book apart from all the others out there comes down to 3 main points…
The first is simplicity. Porter gives the reader an easy acronym to remember the steps of her technique, ALARM. (I won’t explain it here, you can read the book to find out what it means.) And the steps seem very easy to carry out. It’s something you can do anywhere, on your own, or with a suitable person (e.g. therapist or family member).
Secondly, it’s a very quick and easy read, so you can’t argue that you haven’t really got time to read it.
Thirdly, the idea goes beyond merely cleansing one’s body and mind of unhelpful emotions, and goes a step further to replacing those negative emotions with a more beneficial one through the use of affirmations after every release of unprocessed emotion.
Porter does an effective job of putting her message across. Her writing style is concise and relatable.
As for the efficiency of her methods, I’m not in a position to give my opinion yet. I am going to try out the techniques, but I haven’t begun this process just yet, because I’m daunted by the nature of my unprocessed emotions (I am diagnosed with mental health issues).
Some people may argue that her technique is pseudoscience, but to that I would say that it has worked for some people and it’s harmless, so there is absolutely no danger of giving it a try to see if it works for you.
When I have tried the technique, I will update my Goodreads review and let you all know how it went.
If you consider yourself someone who self sabotages, I encourage you to read this book. You’re not going to regret it.
I listened to this book on Spotify while I did my house work and really felt encouraged the whole time while listening. I do feel there would’ve been more impact if I were physically reading it but at least I was listening to something to improve myself instead of true crime again. This was honestly first self help book that I’ve read in a long time and I felt very open and willing to try it all during reading. Also the first author to make me feel like visualization and affirmations could really make an impact. Truly encouraged me to try some new habits out that I have written off in the past.
This book has really helped me understand how to release negative emotions, follow the directions the author gives and see for yourself , it really works
If you're looking for a quick but powerful read, Self Sabotage No More by Jennifer Potter is definitely worth picking up. It’s one of those books that serves as a great reminder of how much our thoughts shape our reality.
Potter does a great job of breaking down self-sabotage in a way that’s easy to understand and, more importantly, easy to apply. The book isn’t overly complicated or full of fluff—it gets straight to the point with practical insights on how to shift your mindset and stop holding yourself back.
What I loved most is that it’s not just about theory; it’s a real wake-up call to become more aware of your inner dialogue and start making changes. Whether you're new to the idea of mindset work or just need a refresher, this book is a great tool to have on hand. Simple, effective, and definitely worth the read!
Easy to follow with lots of great tips to help you get out of your own way. Even if you think you have your life together, there are always areas in our lives that we can work on and this book has definitely got me rethinking what’s possible in these areas of my life. It’s a good reminder that we often have to look no further than “in the mirror” to figure out what’s holding us back. And I love that it actually gives you exercises to help you take practical steps in the right direction and doesn’t just lecture you on what you’ve been doing wrong. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to make positive changes in their lives.
I feel called out but in a good way! I think this book has a lot of eye opening information in it and can give you that awakening that you need if you have self-sabotaging tendencies. I recently have realized I have been self-sabotaging my romantic relationships and been battling with various negativity at work. I really need to hear some of this.
I did however think it was interesting to bring up God and manifesting in the same book. I was taught growing up in the church that manifesting was not biblical but it was intriguing to hear your view on it!
This is great easy read, that makes you reflect on many aspects of your life. Getting unstuck to be able to learn to let go. I'm reading it for a second time, as I feel i must hear this again to process differently. It questions the conditionning we were exposed in our childhood, pushes us to get uncomfortable but yet loving , forgiving and patient with our process. I recommend for deeper work on the self.
This was interesting. There were a lot ofngood take aways and some things I should definitely try ti implement and improve on going forward. There were also a few head scratchers and points where I asked myself "wth?" Overall, it was a worthwhile read/listen (audiobook); it wasn't super long and it did gold my attention and make me think.
The premise of this book is that you can release your old trapped emotions and limiting beliefs, reset your set points for wealth, weight, happiness, etc., and finally get what you want.
I want to do all of the author’s processes. It’s hard for me to remember anything by audio, so I plan to get the workbook.
Interesting self-help book with pointers to help one overcome the things that prevent successes in life-both personal and work. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Excellent read. I felt like Jennie Potter was a friend giving advice. She is passionate and that makes the writing flow to make for an effortless read.
I loved her insights and related to her point of view on the matter of self help and our goals to perfect our lives.
I listened to this on Spotify. I think anyone who does any type of self sabotage could learn some techniques to try. I like that the authors uses her own life and clients situation in the book with her advice.
Short, sweet and straight to the point. These books usually feel cheesy to me but I actually got a few decent tips to put into practice from this one. All in all I give it a solid 4/5.
I have read more self help and mindset books over the last 6 years...nothing stuck. This book...everything changed for me! I highly recommend this one!!!
I was looking for a book to listen to on Spotify and this book popped up. I have taken John Maxwell classes before and this author is a John Maxwell coach. Some topics are repeats from the courses I have taken in the past, but there were some new concepts also like how to release your bottles up emotions. Short listen and well worth it, I took quite a few notes.
A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I felt like this book was SPEAKING TO ME. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am not going to be able to use every technique taught in every book. In SELF-SABATOGE NO MORE, author Jennie Potter starts with ideas that resonated with me: ideas about operating on autopilot, sabotaging anchors, and self-sabotaging filters.
About half-way through the book, I snagged on her UPE scoring (unprocessed emotions). When she stayed on this technique for several chapters, I put the book down. Yet, I can see this as a must-read for people who feel bottled-up and unable to express themselves.
I enjoyed reading this one. I like self help books that are practical. I think I particularly also loved this book because I actually had never done some of the exercises so it was interesting to try them out.Curious to see if they work. I do recommend it as a read.
