A touching novel about family and faith and how those two things when given their proper place can carry us through life’s journey, both the good times and bad. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book of the Sunburned Land series but while it makes me sad this is the last one, I think it may also be my favorite. It’s always great to pick up a book and feel as if the characters are family. Reading this story felt like old home week. Some of my favorite things about this book is that prayer is a regular part of life. And the Goddard family lives out a life of faith while facing continued challenges. Additionally, I love the theme of overcoming self doubt by realizing we are loved like crazy by our Creator. Lastly I love that the interplay and relationships in this faith are true to life and relate-able. The goddards have their rebels, the black sheep, the prodigals, the broken and hurting, the lonely etc but they always find a way together just as family should be.
