Go For Stupid: The Art of Achieving Ridiculous Goals

Rate this book
What would you achieve if you weren't afraid of being laughed at?

In the age of "gotcha" culture, people are terrified to do anything that might be laughed at. Steve Sims is the exact opposite.

In Go For The Art of Achieving Ridiculous Goals , Steve teaches you how to ignore what everyone else thinks and go for big, stupid, ridiculous goals. From organizing a private dinner in front of Michaelangelo's David to securing a tour of SpaceX led by Elon Musk himself, his accomplishments always start with the same How far can I take this? What would make this a stupid achievement? Steve examines famously stupid goals in history, the key habits of successful people, and lessons from his own career to help you let go of your fear and get out of your own way.

If you do something amazing, you will be ridiculed until you are revered. Stop overthinking and go for ridiculous, stupid goals. Once you "go for stupid," you open the door to the life you always dreamed about.

Quick read, enjoyed it. This is the author of the book Bluefishing, and this book is a continuation along that theme. If you haven't heard of it, Sims is an expert at getting very unique experiences for people. This book has some lessons along those lines and also advocates for setting much bigger goals then you initially want to go for. Some of the examples in the book include setting up a private dinner at the foot of the Statue of David, getting a personal photo and session with Elton John, and even singing with Journey for a song. Will definitely push you in the right direction to expand your goals and your thinking.

I haven’t written a review in a long time. This book was recommended by a friend who was apart of a new book club for people in the same industry as my profession. I got so many great nuggets. Don't do the audiobook because it has interactive questions at the end of each chapter. It's a short read but what takes time is internalizing the information and truly answering the questions. My intention was for professional development but ended up getting some personal value out of it too. I haven't enjoyed a book like this in about 7 years. Highly recommend ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I loved this book

Thank you for reminding me it’s not about the technical things… that are endless and easy to keep accumulating. But it’s about the dreams you can dream. The big hairy audacious goals. That stretch you and and make life really interesting. There is much to gain by daring greatly. And how many times did I not ask and thus not have!

I highly suggest listening to this book! The author is the reader and he has such a captivating voice and you really feel like you're just having a conversation with the guy rather than listening to a book This book was good, but I felt it resembled a lot of his first book BlueFishing. There were some new concepts described and brought to your attention, but all in all it felt similar.

52 highlights. I don’t think I’ve had that many highlights in a book in YEARS. So much clear-cut, good material and food for thought/action.

An outstanding follow-up to Bluefishing. Sims does not disappoint. Not only is he an inspiring storyteller - but everything he says has produced success if real life. Highly recommend!

An excellent follow-up to Bluefishing

Steve Simms does it again, describing how to think the un-thinkable, and then execute. Instead of making things happen, Go for Stupid dives deeper into how to make those things happen, and the art of being comfortable while being uncomfortable.

Anyone, in any profession, trying to achieve any goal, should read this book. If you haven’t read Bluefishing, I recommend reading that first.

Find your “why”.
