Laney is a nurse, delivering a baby for a rival MC’s wife. Due to complications, the wife dies. Now the rival MC has a bounty on her head. Running to her childhood crush, and third in line at the local MC, Laney and Rafael hide out until the problem can hopefully be solved. Laney is afraid for her life and concerned that the local MC won’t protect her. Rafael has liked Laney for some time and is ready to protect her, even without the MC’s help. He realizes that if this can’t be resolved between the two MC’s that it could start a war.
This was a short novella with an interesting plot. Laney is a likable character and Rafael is a steady hero. I just wish there was more.

Rafael Luna and Laney Monroe grew up together and Rafael has always had a crush on Laney when Laney helps another MC with a delivery and that goes wrong a price falls on her head and Rafael does everything to help her and to protect. This is a nice story and the chemistry between the characters is well described, the story could have been a little longer and more into certain situations, but other than that it's an entertaining story and watch the next part!

Great to be able to finish Laney and Rachael's story
Not completely polished in editing yet, but that can be overlooked for the content. A strong pull between our midwife and the man who would be her other half. Both fighting that pull, until Laney is no longer being targeted. A midwife can't truly care for a woman in a rival MC though...and that's the moral to the story. Still, Raphael is going to stand between her and anything the world wants to throw at her. A lovely HEA in the end.
