Ever wonder if all the little things cats do to distract, disrupt, and frustrate you in your daily life are actually part of a grand, evil conspiracy? Well, the answer is yes! Feline Commander and the Evil Secret Society of Cats return with more dastardly plots, while Doggoman and his little sister valiantly strive to protect humanity. In this volume you’ll also meet Woofbot and Kinkuma, leader of the hamster gang!
The characters are still cute, but I guess the novelty has worn off. The comics are starting to get repetitive and predictable, and while I want to read everything, the texts that run down the sides of the pages are making me quite cranky.
A collection of comics about cats and how they manipulate their owners, and the superhero dog and his little sister who try to defend the city against these "supervillains". A hamster and hedgehog in the community and their relationship to the superheroes/supervillains are also introduced.
This isn't very long but there are these itsy, tiny comments along the long side of each row of comics that give further background on characters or their thoughts on the events and so on. They slow the reading down but do add to the character development and overall plotline. I liked that we learned some of Dr. Meow's background story in this one. And the hamster underground was a humorous addition. I didn't find anything laugh out loud funny in this collection nor was it quite as enchanting as the first, but it was still a nice, cozy, diverting read before bed to calm down with after the wild and crazy days the end of the school year brings. Recommended to pet owners and animal lovers. Notes on content: Language: None that I remember Sexual content: None Violence: None (the almost superhero/supervillain battle gets delayed by a distraction) Ethnic diversity: Most characters are animals, the humans appear to be Japanese LGBTQ+ content: None specified Other: May need a magnifying glass if tiny print drives you bonkers/is impossible to read for you.
Volume #2 jumps right in where volume #1 left off. I actually feel this volume attempts (and succeeds) to expand the roster and situations that can take place. I think this is a book that you are meant to read a few different strips at a time but not sit down and just run a marathon throughout the book. The Evil Secret Society of Cats biggest issue to me is that the cover of issue #2 isn't different enough to immediately know its the second volume. I believe the book would benefit from a different background color on the cover. The content of this book is solid...and I might argue the creator Pandania is hitting there stride as there are a few 2 part jokes, which makes me appreciate both one and done strips and episodic ones alike. Cat owners will immediately relate as well as enjoy the secret organization jokes...at least that's my humble opinion.
Pretty much continues as with the original volume: cute and mildly amusing, but a bit repetitive. Though a bit less repetitive, since it moved away from reusing the same opening panel on numerous strips, and also has introduced more characters and more backstory for existing characters. But a decent amount of the humor is premised on having cute animals playing out the roles of stock characters from Japanese media-- villains, (reformed) gangsters, superheroes-- so there will always be a heavy reliance on tropes and little room for real novelty.
A cute, fast read. The art style was super cute, which is what drew me in. I enjoyed the premise behind the book but I didn't really care for the short newspaper comic strip like story clips and would have preferred a more cohesive story throughout. I don't think I will continue to read the series, but I do recommend it for younger readers who many like and enjoy this style of graphic novel.
This series continues to be a constant delight! Even though it's a series about cats, I love the hedgehog and the hamster. They clearly have history. Everything here about cats is accurate. Clearly, I am under cat control! Haha!
The Evil Cat Society continues their plans to dominate the human race, while Doggoman fights to protect the humans. More is learned about the various cats and dogs to build on who they are. I'm enjoying the lighthearted feel of this series.
What more could you possibly need to convince you that it’s amazing? The cats are so cute and the stories are short and very relatable. Doggoman is also super cute.
These are honestly just wonderful if you need a quick read to make you smile. And cats are your jam. It's not so much of a story as it is just a series of little comics about the silly things that cats get up to...in the name of taking over the world.
Cute, but I will say the text on the side of the panels drives me bonkers. Sometimes it is related to the panels, sometimes it isn’t…but it is always annoying to turn the book sideways on every page.
Same as the first book. Not a graphic novel but comic strips. Don’t forget to read small print along side the panels. Cute and accurate depictions of cat and human behavior
