The Witch Farm

Rate this book
It's 1989, rural Wales, a lonely old farmhouse in the shadow of the imposing Brecon Beacons mountains. Young, pregnant Liz Rich and her artist husband Bill rent an isolated farmhouse in the Welsh countryside, with Bill's teenage son Laurence. They're hoping for a fresh start, but the house holds dark secrets, and the family's new life becomes a terrifying ordeal that will change them forever.

Their dream home has become a haunted nightmare - but what is real and what is in their minds?

Written and presented by Danny Robins, creator of The Battersea Poltergeist, Uncanny and West End hit 2:22 - A Ghost Story, The Witch Farm stars Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid's Tale) and Alexandra Roach (No Offence), with original theme music by Mercury Prize-nominated Gwenno. This 8-part series interweaves a terrifying supernatural thriller set in the wild Welsh countryside with a fascinating modern-day investigation into the real-life mystery behind what has been called Britain's most haunted house.

Podcast review:
Officially listened to all the Danny Robins spooky podcasts now apart from Haunted, can’t wait to get started on that. Now I just have to go see his new play 2:22 A Ghost Story (with Cheryl Cole in it lol) and then I’ll officially be an obsessed fan.

This one was good but again the voice acting really cringes me out. I love that as it’s got more popular the production value has gone up and up and now they’ve got Joseph Fiennes and Alexandra Roche!

I think I just prefer the structure of Uncanny, almost like an anthology, we don’t dwell on each story too long. This one was interesting as they introduced lay lines and dousing rods, and they’ve not really looked at that yet. However, there really wasn’t as much spooky content as TBP and because of that it felt like they were sparingly drip feeding us with it to drag it out.

Heh. Wszystkie podcasty Danny'ego Robinsa są robione na jedno kopyto i sprawdzają się jako dźwięki tła - akurat do malowania ściany czy sprzątania balkonu. Historie, narracja, ramowanie - wszystko wygląda tak samo, więc jeśli słyszałaś The Battersea Poltergeist to słyszałeś wszystko. Lovecraftowe adaptacje wciąż pozostają najciekawszą produkcją podcastową BBC, której słuchałam.

This was fascinating, frightening and strange but ultimately unexplained. Everything about where this was set is calm today which suggests it was the people involved who were part of it. Great story and very compelling.

Really enjoyed the witch farm. Caught up in all the wonderful Welshness of it all. I do have some theories to pass on to Danny that I think they may have missed. Forever chemicals in south wales for one. Enjoy Uncanny so much.
