Her debut, Holy Island, was released in 2015 and became an instant, international bestseller. The Bookseller magazine has reported on Louise having topped the ‘Most Read’ and ‘Most Sold’ fiction charts, and she has garnered an army of loyal fans who love her atmospheric and addictive storytelling.

Her eleventh novel, The Infirmary, is a prequel story to the DCI Ryan series and is available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris and Alun Armstrong.

She spent much of her working life in London, where she was a lawyer for a number of years until taking the decision to change career and pursue her dream to write. This was not my typical read but, after finishing it, it's prompted me to buy Holy Island by L. J .Ross.I really enjoyed 'The Mystery of the Vanishing Mayor' it was easy to follow and a short read. I used to work in Durham Town Hall where this book is set so I already knew the story behind the missing Mayor. A fun retelling of a supposed historical event that I couldn't put down.

A short, very easy to read story featuring DCI Ryan that was written especially for Durham Book Festival 2022. It was nice to read about places (and even some people!) we know and it was a nice bit of fun.

A very short story indeed, probably the shortest I've ever read and being as it's one of my favourite detective duos definitely not long enough.

This Short Story was written especially for the Durham Book Festival ..
Following a post on the Fans of LJ Ross FB page, a book circle was started and I was lucky enough to be the first responder ..

Our favourite Crime fighting duo return to solve a 'closed door' mystery - the book took under 30 mins to read and was a good infill whilst waiting for the next full length book to be published ..

What I really enjoyed, was the research into the real events back in the 1700's that inspired the modern mystery ..
