Never thought I’d settle down. Not until her walked into my life.
Trent Callahan. One of the most affluent people in the area with a self-built empire. The man with my heart in his hands.
The night he followed me home, I never expected more than a one-night stand. A year later, I still call him mine. Well, mostly mine.
I want more than just someone to warm my sheets. For once, I want to be put first. But I fear that’s not possible. Because he loves his job more than anything. Including me.
But I sense change in the air. Feel life shifting for us both. All I hope is it’s for the better. Because Trent is someone I don’t want to live without.

Reese by Persephone Autumn is a novella set in her Bay Area Duet series world. This is a sweet and heart-warming MM love story about Reese Triggs and Trent Callahan. It has a little angst and some suspense as this couple try to work out the logistics of their relationship. If you have read the Insomniac Duet then you will remember Reese as Peyton’s roommate before she was with Micah.
Reese is tired of being lonely and has come to the conclusion that he needs to grow up and settle down after playing the field. The only problem is with the man he wants to settle down with keeps breaking ups with him every time he goes away on business. Reese is left heart broken every time and the rejection leaves him feeling worthless because all he wants and needs is Trent. Reese does worry his feelings aren’t reciprocated even though they make up every time Trent returns, so this time he is determined to make it work and overcome any obstacles in their way.
Trent is building his business empire but it means his life is hectic and he travels a lot. He has been seeing Reese for over a year now but doesn’t want him to feel obligated to wait for him every time he leaves town. He knows he is hurting Reese but is unsure they can survive with him being away so much. He hates not always being there for Reese and knows it is really unfair to treat him like this. He feels guilty he can’t devote more time to their relationship and be what Reese needs. While he is away he starts considering options for going forward as he finally accepts how much Reese means to him.
While the guys work on their relationship, a series of events lead them to also having a business problem to solve when Trent’s plan to have more time away from work backfires. I loved how Reese stepped up to the mark and proved to Trent that he could trust him and be far more than just his boyfriend. I was so pleased when they both admitted their feelings and desires to each other and it was lovely how he showed Trent how to live and love. Their trip to San Francisco was just what they needed and so romantic. Be prepared for some steamy bedroom scenes as these two are hot together. Great epilogue with some familiar characters helping to end their story.
Rather painful at the start as it seems we are seeing a relationship breaking down. Reese and Trent are quite the opposites, one gets by on two jobs, the other is extremely wealthy, but love is the glue that holds them. A nice novella of two sweet men and their once rocky romance and those who almost brought them down. A great read.
