This is one of books I would consider life changing. Not only because it presents the readers a forecast of what might happen in our near global future if we don't change our way of relating with each other and with the Earth, but also because it shows irrevocably the constant attempts of the power of few to subdue the dignity of life of many.

I have read the second edition (2001) and I am looking forward to see what else the most recent has to say, because if features 100 pages more.

It is important to say that this book has a "academic style" providing lot of references for the statements provided and also serving as consultative material of the development of human rights throughout our history.

Esse livro era algo que eu vinha adiando há muito tempo, porém finalmente cumpri a tarefa. A qualidade é obviamente inquestionável, tenho quase certeza que ela é reconhecida de modo geral. Além dos comentários sobre cada ato e documento, há extratos dos mesmos e o autor pincela o contexto de sua criação. Muito bom, especialmente os momentos em que ele se deixa levar por seu raciocínio.

Uma ótima introdução à temática, ainda que algumas concessões didáticas prejudiquem pontos específicos em que o autor apresenta como fatos teses atualmente controvertidas, senão superadas. Vale a leitura pela didática, completude e paradigma na literatura brasileira.
