Writing Skills to Build On is a concise, practical composition text designed for courses in remedial and developmental writing, for both native English speakers and ESL students, at the paragraph-to-essay level. The first part of the text establishes the basic structures that students will work the sentence, the paragraph, and the essay. Students are also introduced to summaries, oral presentations, and research papers. The second part of the text deals with grammar and vocabulary, and offers self-study with answers at the back of the text. The third section offers a selection of readings, all of which are from Canadian sources.
