This is a lovely book with a variety of more vintage style patterns. The patterns are aimed at intermediate level crocheters who are already familiar with the craft. While there is a brief explanation of the various stitches involved at the back of the book, it's rudimentary at best and would not be a good way to learn.

The various patterns are lovely, the main ones I was looking at were for filet crochet; the peacock runner in particular. While I'm still not sure if I'll actually make it, it really is a striking piece.

This is definitely a pattern book, not a learning book.

What an excellent book! I cannot say enough good things about this book of patterns, a wide range of 'retro' patterns for the Intermediate to Advance crocheter. Those who are just beginning in the field of crocheted lace take heart. There are several patterns that may suit your level, such as the edging pattern on page 112. Edging pattern 24-1B is not only a classic edge but can easily be translated into a bookmark pattern. Also, the "Fern Tablecloth" pattern on page 38, one of those that looks difficult but in practice is simple in nature to do.

There are dozens of patterns that can be considered 'heirloom' projects; table runners, doilies and absolutely gorgeous bedspread patterns.

Some are hard to find patterns such as the "Lace Valentine Bedspread" pattern on page 102. I have spent hours on the internet looking for this specific pattern. A motif that has a Venetian type style that is lovely to behold.

Even if you are just looking for a pattern book for inspiration? Don't let this title escape your list.
