"Charming" is the exact word to describe this beautiful book! There are so many charming sock patterns, separated by theme: animals, flowers, food, the outdoors, and holidays. I love the October Halloween socks, the Vitamin C socks, and the Blooming Lavender Socks. I can't wait to make them!
The book itself is beautiful and well laid out. The charts are large and easy to read, and the instructions seem to be clear and to the point. I also love how there's colorwork tips and tricks as well.
I've seen so many knitters use this book, so I'm very excited to have a copy. I've especially heard good things about Charlotte Stone's German short row heel, so I will update my thoughts when I try it.
Overall: 5 stars
Thank you, Page Street Publishing, for this review copy!
Charlotte always does a great job making her patterns as legible as possible. I like how easy it is to mix and match heel shaping based on how I'm feeling, just by flipping back a pattern. There are a handful of patterns I'll never make, but there are a few I have a feeling I'll keep coming back to. If you're new to sock knitting, Charlotte does a fantastic job making the instructions clear for even the newest knitters.
Very fun. Good advice, instructions and photographs. My favorites were: Swan Lake, Blooming Lavender, Tiptoe through the Tulips, Cherry on Top, Eggs for Easter, I Heart Socks, I'm Batty for Halloween. I think I would like to make bat socks in lots of different colors. Here is some great inspiration to finally pursue colorwork.
This is a lovely little book on patterned socks—the cover socks are my favorite. I am very picky about which heel style I knit and it was great that the author uses a couple different ones so the knitter can try an unfamiliar style, but I'm going to stick to the good old short row heel. Cute socks but nothing grabbed me.
So many beautiful socks! Lots of good tips on fitting and colorwork. The patterns don’t seem difficult, but I’m a novice when it comes to knitting socks. I think I need more practice before attempting these patterns.
