While this book had some interesting facts and stories, the writing was atrocious. There were SO MANY errors, both grammatical and spelling, that it was ultimately hard to look past.
The first half of the book contains a variety of articles and stories, while the latter half contains the encyclopedia part - essentially a listing of all the people on death row. I read the first half with all the stories but skimmed the encyclopedia part. This book is quite old, so I'm sure the listings are out of date by now.
I wouldn't really recommend this book due to the awful writing, though it does have some interesting tidbits, hence the extra star.
Great book for crime buffs like me. I have found myself up late at night Googling death row inmate's last meals, and if that's something you'd do too, this book is great. It's bit outdated (1999) but in addition to case files and random facts, it has a full list of all the inmates on death row at time of printing, with photo and outline of the crime. I enjoyed the layout of this book especially.
