Book review for vol. 1: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Outline of the story: In a modern Europe-looks-alike fantasy world, there are magic-users and the unearthly powerful beings known as the 'witches'. The witches are seemingly all evil and love to curse people and cause mayhem, so the witches are widely feared and hated by the general public and are hunted by the Church and an unknown organization of magic users.

The main story: The Witch and the Magical Sword is just so delightful, this time the setting of the witch and her power is also delightful too! Plus there are hints that the witches , good!

This time the truth about the conspiracy surrounding the witch (who is supposed to be the weakest witch ever) and the cursed magical sword isn't that difficult to figure out, still I'm impressed by the epic action scenes, the superb characters designs (e.g. the powerful Holy Knight who is bound to an Ice Fae, etc etc)

Our main characters, the tricky magician from the Organisation and the beastly young girl are still doing really damn great as a pair of working partners! But it's hinted that the young girl is ? I don't know how to feel about that. I like these characters and the stories, but this particular setting just makes me feel uncomfortable.

PS: The young witch who carries/protects the cursed magical sword doesn't want to die before having her first kiss, so let's see how it will go!

PSS: the magical sword and his chatters! It's just too hilarious!

This volume was nonstop action. And then a cliffhanger ugh. Side note: Ashaf is a badass. I knew that before but here he was especially badass.

This volume had so much action, I was unable to put it down for even a second. And that cliffhanger? Omg. And Ashaf is so hot, idc. 😂❤️

I can’t explain into words how much I love this series, these characters and their crazy personalities! The situations they get themselves into is beyond crazy! What a wild ride!

Guideau and Ashaf are at it again when they’re assigned a new case involving a witch and a series of murders. This time around, they’re up against more than a witch this time around because the Paladin Corps has been called in to apprehend the murderous witch. When Guideau and Ashaf find the witch, they discover she’s a young woman named Helga who isn’t very skilled on top of being innocent of the crimes she’s been accused of. To top things off, she’s got a demon sword on her, and whoever has framed her has their eyes set on it.

This is the most interesting volume yet! It’s a bit different than the previous volumes, but it’s extremely interesting. This time around, we’re following a combination of Guideau and Ashaf on their latest assignment as well as well as their latest target, Helga. We go back and forth between both sides throughout the volume, which I loved. I’m very interested in seeing how Helga’s storyline continues in the fourth volume as well as what happens with this talking demon sword.

One thing I was extremely excited about is the amount of backstory dropped throughout the story. It wasn’t overwhelming at all given the amount of info we were given, and we found out quite a bit about witches and where their power comes from. We also found out that mages can make a pact with elementals, giving them the ability to be as powerful as a witch. I’m super interested in seeing how this information plays out in future volumes as well as what other new information we’ll learn.

I don’t know when the fourth volume will be translated and released in English, but I will be reading it as soon as it comes out. I see that there’s several volumes that have already been published, so I’m excited to read them as soon as they’re available.

Awesome story with lots of action and twists. Minor complaint. Minor spoiler...

Every book so far is a tad different from the one before. This one has art like Attack on Titan, characters and actions reminiscent of Bleach, magic that made me think The Ancient Magus Bride meets Blue Exorcist, all wrapped within a fantasy world that is both new and familiar. I like the relationship between Ashaf and Guideau, and the organic humor that comes with it, like him manipulating her with a bone treat.

Page notes as I read: as of page 49 - The Paladin Corps give off Hellsing and AoT vibes.

I still feel like I know more about the secondary couple than I do the first. It’s a slow start for me but getting a little better. I’m glad I got to read these all together and not just one every few months.

This volume did pick up the pace a bit better than the previous.

A very action packed volume. The art continues to be very impressive and I hope the story continues to develop as we learn more about this world.

Holy shit, this was an intense volume!

I wasn't expecting that much action in one volume, there was barely any time to breathe! But damn, that action was intense, beautiful, and crazy! Guideau and Ashaf continue to be badasses as you do, but Helga really put in some work. It was cool seeing Guideau and Helga work together and that cliffhanger ending has me curious. And speaking of Helga, I feel so bad for her! The poor woman just wants to lead a normal life, but the universe seems dead set on fucking it up at every turn. Also, there was a lot of worldbuilding dropped regarding the Paladins, witch lineage, and other juicy tidbits that make this world even cooler than it already is.

I don't have much else to say since this volume was mostly action and worldbuilding, but this was a great volume filled with intense fight scenes and my favorite pair being their awesome selves. Can't really ask for more.

This latest installment in the intriguing dark fantasy is action-packed, filled with magical battles. But the most shocking is the character development given to Guideau as the foul-mouthed girl/beast – and, as we all know, Guideau hates witches with all her being. (Need the full story as to why.)

This third volume makes for an entertaining read – and when the escalation of events causes even the cool and calm Ashaf to look dismayed, you know that the witch-seeking pair are in the deepest of trouble.

A charming extra is a 3-page bonus manga at the end: P.S. At Phanora’s Mansion which brings back necromancer Phanora and Johannes from Volume 2.

And now I can’t wait to see what happens to Helga and Guideau in Volume 4.

This was much better than Vol 2. Like the first installment, this one focuses on "the Beast" (Guideau) and her mage partner, Ashaf. Investigating a witch and a string of murders, the twosome finds that there is more to the story: a demon sword, a underground group, and the paladin corps. The story moves quickly and sees the characters' abilities expanded on. Also, the addition of other forces adds an allure to keep on reading. If you like darker, fairytale types this is certainly a solid addition to the series. I look forward to the next one; hopefully, it will be more like Vol 1 or 3 and not Vol 2...

Vol 3: (Chapters 11- 17)

Guideau and Asharf once again received a case from the "The Order of Magical Resonance" to investigate a Witch Incident that involves multiple deaths. With the long-awaited opportunity to face off against a Witch, Guideau is ready to go.

However, the Paladin's are also already on the hunt. This order consists of elite soldiers affiliated with the church, and it seem like their group has already taken the lead by having the city blocked off to confine the witch. But things are definitely not what they seem...for any of the parties involved.

Who will reach and capture the Sword Witch first?

Our main characters are back, and like mentioned at the end of the previous volume, they find themselves in quite the tricky situation.
The whole story and events felt rather chaotic, but do still feed the intrigue. I had many questions throughout the reading, and even though they get subtly answered I can't feel that there is more behind than what is being told. I guess I'll have to wait for the next volume to see what awaits us...

The stakes are getting higher in this installment. I adore the Demon Sword and the organic way the story is raising more and more questions about what Guideau really is. If humans go mad at merely the touch of the Demon Sword, how can Guideau not only resist but discard the sword's advances for power? What is she really? It's very interesting and the world-building continues to stack up with the Paladin Corps first on-page introduction. 4/5

Ashaf never fails to intrigue me. The smoothness of the world development (✨the lore✨, if you will) is perfect for me.
I also love the art style, though the action scenes can still be a bit confusing to follow- but that's not exactly why I'm here- nor are they the bulk of the story.

Looking forward to Vol. 4 💕

As interesting as the storyline is, I’m choosing to not continue this series. There’s too many plot holes even in the current arc which make figuring things out confusing. As well as, the art style being too busy in some panels and too empty in others.

Snapshot review: i'm really enjoying the expansion of world building here. also, the different types of witches and just how evil (or not) they may be, it's so much fun! ashaf may just be my new husbando. plus, a talking sword? this may just be my new comfort series.

This was a very fast-paced edition, and I like the concepts that were added, like the paladins and the "good witches" vs. "bad witches" motif. In the future, I'd like to learn more about the characters, especially Ashaf, and what motivates them!
