Rugged Nate Lowell, ex-cop and right-hand man to the Alpha of his werewolf pack, Artem, is rescued by Diana Moonbear, Artem's sister-in-law, after an accident in the woods nearly causes him to lose his leg. Even worse, his current girlfriend Tiffany ghosts him rather than take the trouble to nurse him now that he's off his feet for a while.
Diana offers him the spare room in her penthouse so he can easily roll up and down with his wheelchair and learn to walk again. Their lives start to roll on and mesh in the most unexpected ways.
Nate always thought Diana was gorgeous, from the time he first encountered her in a courtroom ten years before. Fate seems to be presenting him with the perfect woman, smart, brave, sexy, and one who burns for justice against the men destroying the werewolf pack's lovely forest home.
The trouble is, Diana is a shapeshifting bear who's always vowed she would only ever marry another bear to carry on their clan. Can Nate get her to change her mind and start seeing him as the one man who can complete her life in every way?

This story continues on. This is a different perspective to romance in that it is written solely from the MMC's Pov. Nate is in his late thirties and a former cop. He had to leave the force when he got bitten by a werewolf and turned. He is looking to fall in love and be in a committed relationship, but keeps choosing the wrong women. The one woman who he has things in common and makes him feel more, won't be with anyone who is not a bear shifter. Diana is smart, strong and independent. She is also thirty and feels the stress of ensuring the bear clan lives on by mating with a bear shifter. Although there is talk of the animal shifters, this feels more like a contemporary romance novel. It is the beginning of the anthology so, perhaps there will be more supernatural aspects brought in.
I love a good book with a story that does not include consistent sex. I get the feeling the author comes to a dead end and so they start sex scenes. Very enjoyable to read a book that is clean.
