The Deal #3

Blood Rains Down From the Sky

Rate this book
The world is ending. As blood rains down from the sky and fires burn through ravaged cities, Ramsey Kopperud takes shelter in a small Kansas town and tries to come up with a solution. She's convinced that the answer can be found in an ancient book, but can she figure it out in time?

When Sebastian arrives to find her, Ramsey realizes that her time is almost over. After two hundred years of captivity, a powerful witch is about to be freed and her rage is set to bring human civilization crashing down. With the help of friends and enemies from her old life in Deal, Ramsey sets out to face the witch and try to stop her. But does her plan have any hope of succeeding?

Soon, Ramsey finds herself caught in an even more desperate fight for survival. Chased by witch-hunters, attacked by strange creatures that live in the tunnels, and forced to face her worst nightmare, Ramsey eventually discovers that the real cause of the apocalypse is something far closer to home. Even with that realization, however, she faces a terrifying final confrontation with the one enemy that seems impossible to defeat.

Set over several centuries, Blood Rains Down From the Sky is the epic third and final part of the Deal trilogy.

This was a tough read. The first two books in the trilogy were tough to read because they gave me the creeps. This one, though, this was just hard to read. The style was odd and fragmented. It didn't come together -- UNTIL.... Until I got to the second half and realized that the first half's style reflected the chaos of the first half of the story. As the second half began, the style settled down and became typical of Cross, and it reflected the pace and path of the story. (Sly author technique!)

If you like to be creeped out by the vivid imagery and the lack of / and success of human morals, this trilogy is for you.

Better than the second but still a shadow of the story it could be. Tons is spent on silly witch hunts that never happened. Books down to sone multiverse junk that doesn’t have any suspense. This book and the last seem like a desperate effort to take a good story and stretch it into a trilogy

The conclusion to the Deal Trilogy wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read. However, it was extremely drawn out. The timelines and POV’s jumped back and forth so many times it began to get confusing. The story followed Ramsey/Carrie to her final encounter with Sebastian, several times. Ultimately sacrificing the one person she loved most, Ramsey was able to save the world but disrupted several timelines in the process of this. Realistically, the book could’ve been done at around page 300.

I want to start off by saying that I REALLY enjoyed the first and second book in this series

I had high hopes for the third being a really good wrap up of what happened in the first and second but there are just several issues that I cannot get passed that makes me wish Amy had just let the world end in book number 2.

I actually think that would have been a really ballsy move on her part but unfortunately what she did reads as if she was petrified to do anything except wrap Ramsey up in a pretty bow and give her a HEA.

First of all.
Ramsey living many lives and experiencing reincarnation was such a fantastic plot point. I really enjoyed the slow burn of her realisation that she wasn’t seeing ghosts but memories.

I really liked Ethan being a bit of a guide for her and helping her to see what she needed to see.
The waking up of her previous lives was a really nicely laid path for the first and second books.

The third book these recovered memories and realisations are rushed, messy and not very well described.

At the end Ramsey just SUDDENLY knows everything and there was no clear indicator as to when the full length and breadth of her awareness came through.

I think it would have been good to reincarnate Ramsey once in the series.

I’m pretty sure she came back after dying three times in this series, living majority of her life as Ramsey Kopperud in the first and second books, she comes back as a Cane of no relation to Liam, then subsequently resetting the timeline to coincide with her life as Kateryna (or whatever it was) in the 1800s. She then comes back as Ramsey in her final reincarnation, and beats the curse however in every single one of her reincarnations she feels the most comfortable as “Ramsey” and uses this name throughout the books.

There is a really interesting plot point with Angela’s name never being said.
I was pretty sure she was going to come out as Derin the all powerful witch, but despite ALL of the dialogue around Angela’s true name, whether that’s her simply refusing to share it, or her refusal to give it to Sebastian after he loses the right to know it, it’s never explicitly expressed what her true name is. In fact, after Angela disappears from the backseat of Sheriff Kopperuds car, we never hear from Angela again.

I felt like this was a HUGE plot point to miss and simply never clarify what the meaning behind her real name was.

IS Angela Derin?!
What the hell was the deal with her reluctance to give anybody her real name?

I think this book could have ended at the halfway mark in book 2. I think the author did the story a disservice by dragging it out in particular because the overarching message in the whole of the book is simply “do the right thing.”

The “78 years ago” “ten years later” “a few days ago” “a few days later” “97 years ago” “two hundred years ago” “earlier” nonsense also really irritated me. I was completely lost to the timeline and if I’m not mistaken the authors math was not mathing. She said the world was ending in 2026 but the first book is set in 2016 and if you actually add up the timelines the world ends sometime in the 2030’s. Either way this could have been solved by simply putting dates up, or years.

I’m glad I read it but it was a tedious read towards the end.

All over the world blood rains down from the sky, cities are ravaged by plague and fire and civilization is coming to an end. These events have been precipitated by the clash between the evil Sebastian and the witch that he has held captive for more than 200 years. Caught in the middle of their struggle Ramsey Kopperud looks for the way to end the Apocalypse and hopes that the answer lies in an ancient book.
Just about three stars for the last in Amy Cross' Deal Trilogy. The basic plot is that decisions made by the protagonists in the first two books lead to a very literal manifestation of the end of the world, as told by the Book of Revelation. In order to avert this Ramsey, aka the Whore of Babylon, and the last living creature left on Earth must travel back in time to the early nineteenth century to undo those poor decisions. This was a nice concept which drew what had been a largely horror genre trilogy into something with a bit of time meddling and paradox, but the delivery of the story turned into something quite tedious as long passages from earlier books were repeated verbatim The book could have been a lot sharper and more focused on plot.

This is the third and final book in the Deal series from this author and it picks up not long after the last one left off. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great conclusion to this series. I really liked how everything came together at the end of this book and the callbacks to the previous books in the series. The author made a very bold choice for this story and one that I really enjoyed though this did mean that the book slowed down a little in the middle as we set up for the climax and there were moments that struggled to hold my interest. The horror in this book was really good though I do think there were more horrifying moments in the first half of the book than the second half. I liked the ending of this book and I thought it was a very fitting ending to this series as a whole. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I will be picking up more from this author!

All I can say is WOW! This series is probably one of my favorites. Twists and turns everywhere. Not sure what dark hole the author pulled this story from but it is excellent. Just when you think it's over.....

awesome story!!

Amy Cross, you out did yourself! This was an epic story, and while I have enjoyed all your books, this one was so well written. Just an epic adventure.
If anyone wants a haunting, exciting and unique read, this is it. Will read again to see what I missed. Definitely her best series ever.

so i hate how it ended, but amy cross 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 this book had my attention the whole time, the twists and turns. and to think all this happened because of a girl who loves her dad (which ngl was a bit weird to me because he was never there), also what was the witches name ?????? i need to know.

Perfect ending.

I truly enjoyed this trilogy. There was a time when I thought no way, but it ended very well. Very little errors in this book, like the first. So glad I was able to read all 3 because they had me hooked just within the first chapter of the first book.

I quite enjoyed this trilogy, but as usual, the ending was disappointing. Towards the end I was thinking and hoping they'd save the world by imprisoning Sebastian the same way they did the witch, which, in my opinion, would've been a way better ending.

Brilliant

I'm so glad Ramsey finally dealt with Sebastian once and for all. Well done Amy, again your stories are fantastic, I was pretty gutted that Katrinas life ended so badly but the characters were really well thought out.

OMG

I have loved this entire series, but this book, in particular, I loved completely. It definitely had a few surprises that I was not at all prepared for, and I most definitely cried with how it ended.

I liked this one but I don’t feel like it was the best of the series. I think I would have liked a little look at the other attempts made by Ramsey.
