Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media

Rate this book
Using a variety of formats, collaborative art projects result in wonderfully complex pieces, and often provide the glue between artists within a community. Heavy on visual inspiration, Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media covers various organizational structures for collaborative art projects, offers instructions and tips for organizing such ventures, and includes interviews with organizers and participants of collaborative projects, as well as a healthy smattering of techniques including how to create books that can be added to as they travel and how to devise various binding structures for different paper projects.

Interesting overview of different ways in which artists work together and exchange work, such as swapping art and working together on a work or works. Although this was published in 2009, it felt more dated than that - probably because most of the collaboration and swapping was coordinated via Yahoo groups.

Collaborative art journals - really good inspiration for those that are involved in or looking to collaborate with someone or group.

It is a how-to on setting a round robin or other type of collaborative mixed media art project, but I wouldn't call it an in depth how too. It gives good overview and suggestions. This book includes quotes on several topics including blogging, artist interviews about collaborating, and a few projects with basic instructions such as one on creating a book from paper bags. But what I love about this book best is that it has good inspiration by including amazing photo examples.

Daughter bought me a journal Father's Day for me to paint in blank white paper! While browsing my Library app with my Kindle there was L K Ludwig Collaborative Art Journals. I know I am going to enjoy this journey with gift as an artist in winter of my years.

I apparently had already read and reviewed this book in 2009, yet didn't remember reading it when I read it again, which suggests that this book was a forgettable read...

Nice examples of various collaborative multimedia art projects.

I think this book has some good information for people new to swaps and art collaboratives. I wish I had been able to read this before I began swapping.

A pretty cool book, full of photos of past collaborative art project, to be used as a loose guide for inspiration.
