Christmas at a snowed in country house. You know what happens next…
Not necessarily.
Agatha Aston is invited to spend the weekend before Christmas with some old friends. Accompanied by her Machiavellian Basset hound, Talleyrand, Agatha encounters murder, ghosts and romance at a country house where nothing is as it seems. While Agatha has her hands full solving a murder, Talleyrand has his own problems in the shape of Bismarck, the hosts’ unfriendly German Shepherd. Expect fireworks.
Containing a short ghost story within a story, The Christmas Murder Mystery is a twisty box of delights, perfect holiday reading for murder mystery fans of all ages who like Agatha Christie with a dash of PG Wodehouse.
The Christmas Murder Mystery can be read as a standalone or why not investigate the rest of the series.
This is a clean contains no on the page sex or violence.

A third detective series features the grandson of CI Jellicoe. This series is set in the 1950's. There are three titles with a fourth due in January.

This book was a mixed bag for me. I loved the plot and the concept. However, the editing was horrible!! Poor punctuation made reading difficult at times, understanding what was going on nearly impossible at times and overall was very frustrating. Also, during the story you didn't know what the main sleuth was thinking, seeing, hearing, remembering, etc., so the reader didn't have all the clues to solve the mystery. At least you didn't know who-dunnit by chapter two. And, boy, was it slow to get started!! And finally, the only thing Christmas-y about this book is the title. Otherwise, Christmas is nowhere to be found. Very disappointing if you are expecting a holiday themed book.
This is the third Lady Agatha mystery that I have read, and I dislike her more in each one. The plot was better in this one, but I doubt that I would read anymore even for Talleyrand. She is a remarkable woman in many ways, but she is also a prickly cactus. She enjoys flaunting her annoying habits, and I suspect will continue to do so, even if tempered by the possibility of romance and a profession. Too bad too since it could have been a good series.
I like the Agatha books even better than the Kit Aston books. This is the best so far, with more friends, a country house, mysterious lights and then ... I won't spoil it, Murray has done a good job with this book and I hope he writes another dozen books about Agatha. Highly recommended.
It is a week before Christmas when during a trip to visit friends Agatha Aston travels. Along with some of her friends. There is a quick succession of odd occurrences. There is what appears to be a theft and also a staged murder. I must admit I was a bit lost as to where the story was headed.
Who doesn't want to be Agatha Aston? She is smart, beautiful, and finally meets her match in the third installment, (as in, I hope there are more), of this wonderful series. Thank you, Jack for bringing Agatha to us, showing her as a young woman.
I think the detailed description was very well done. Likewuse, the play on words and the use of a story applicable to our times was well thought out. I enjoyed the book/s very much.
Very enjoyable! Story line follows through well and still keeps you guessing. Great character and scene descriptions allow you to visualize each one and their surroundings. The snow and the cold gives a Christmas feeling. Plan on reading more by this author.
Another highly, entertaining page turner from Mr. Murray! I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the read. please continue (and very soon) writing more Agatha mysteries!!
Brilliant story, Best one yet. Great characters, great settings, great detail. Loved it from start to finish. Hoping there's going to be more in this series.
A well written novel with enough suspense to keep my interest. I luv the characters, wish there was more of Agatha and Eustace. A well written mystery.
This book was narrated with a virtual voice, which I thought would annoy me. However, I found it to sound authentic, and I prefer it to the narrators who have terrible English or southern accents.
Cute storyline but didn’t really connect with any of the characters. It was a little hard to stay focused on the story. I’m not sure if I would read another one from this series.
