Gabe Gabriel Knorlin has spent his life protecting himself from the kind of pain no one should ever have to endure. The tragedy he survived sculpted every decision he ever made.
The one decision he regretted? Abagail Crawford—a woman he calls family, but one he’s kept at arm’s length. He can’t live through the pain of losing someone he loves again.
Only fate has kicked him in the balls and placed Abbey squarely in his lap. His only goal is to protect her from the Los Muertos cartel.
Her own insistence on getting herself killed aside, he’s afraid he’ll give in to his desires and it’ll cost him the only family he has.
Abbey
Assistant ADA Abagail Crawford finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation. A colleague was killed, and Abbey’s been given his investigation into a drug cartel and now his murder. She’s not equipped to handle it. Her specialty is white collar crime, but fake it ‘til you make it, right?
Her brother, of course, insists on Gabe being her bodyguard until the investigation and trial are over. Considering what happened to her predecessor, she can’t argue with him.
There is a problem, however.
She’s loved Gabe since she was twelve years old. When she confessed her feelings for him, he sister-zoned her in the most embarrassing and hurtful way. She’s avoided him like the plague ever since.
But now, she can’t escape the attraction. She discovers the man has feelings for her, and it’s up to her to figure out why he’s so afraid.
Hopefully, she can get the guy before they both end up on the receiving end of a bullet. She just has to convince one very reluctant, stubborn man they’re worth fighting for.
So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.
Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.
Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.
I didn't love the storyline or the main characters in this book. Abbey was just so so and Gabe (frustrated sigh) even though I understood his fear and what originally kept him from acting on his feelings toward Abbey, it lasted pretty much the whole book. Her parents gave him their blessing and he still was afraid. Stevie wasn't a great big brother to Abbey or best friend to Gabe, considering he cared more about himself then either his sister or bff! Gabriel's character just didn't fit the badA all the other Kincaid and KSI men portrayed. Don't even get me started on how Conner The Executioner can control the cartel head! WTF?!?! That just doesn't make sense!!! And we still don't know who the "mole" in the law firm was. I'm thinking ill take a break from this series for a hot minute that is unless Conner's story gets released!!!! 2.5 stars ✌
Gabriel or Gabe Knorlin lost his parents when he was a young child. He went to live with his grandmother but she was in the first stages of dementia. The family next door was a family to him. He was best friends with the son, Stevie and had a crush on the daughter Abbey. Gabe goes into the Marines and when he gets out goes to work for Kincaid Security and Investigations. Abbey is an assistant district attorney and when she is moved from white collar crimes to murder cases, the Los Muertos cartel kills the ADA who was forming a RICO case against them. Now she’s heading the case and her brother calls Gabe to protect her. Abbey has loved Gabe for years but when she told him, he put her in the sister zone and hurt her. Gabe is afraid to lose the only family he has if it doesn’t work out between him and Abbey. Will Gabe keep her safe and still keep the family he loves? Kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. I read this in one day. I couldn’t put it down. Action.
It's so good to be back with the KSI guys! I really enojy having them all fill in to make the story flow and to help build on the overall picture of the group. Gabe is darling, a sweet guy who just doesn't trust himself or his life because of his journey with loss. Abby is arling, full of stass and confidence and a real strength that we don't always see in female characters. She's tough without being too tough. This was a bit more emotional since it brought back some drama that has been dealt with before. The ups and downs and twists and turns were both expected and unexpected. It's one heck of a journey for both of them. This is a great story. If you love the crew, you'll love this one too.
Gabe and Abbey grew up as neighbours and fell in love as teens tho Have denied his love as he didn't want it to end in him looking get family as his own. Have is part of KSI Investigation and when he takes a call from his best mate and Abbeys brother saying she needed help he took on the case and paid for every part of the protection. The cartel were after Abbey as ADA she had evidence on them so a bit was out on her. Lots of drama followed, such a great read.
This book is a fabulous addition to the series! Gabe and Abbey’s story is a long time coming. She has been in love with him since she was fourteen years old. He’s been in love with her for just as long, but has held back due to fear of losing the only family he’s had. It takes a real threat to the people he loves to make him realize what he already has. This book is full of action and will leave you on the edge of your seat. Absolutely a great series!!!
Gabe and Abbey were a great couple. I hated how his fears messed with him but in the end they got their HEA. Connor is becoming this larger than life character and I have some concerns with that. You can only have so much build up before things just start to get out of hand. I hope the author can reign that story in to something that we can handle. The Executioner…huh!
The cartel is back, and this time, Gabe was on the front lines. Those he loves as family are under siege, specifically ADA Abagail, whom Gabe has loved even before he joined the Marines. Their story is filled with action as the cartel attempts to, murder Abagail. Gabe has to deal with fears of losing his family.
This story has murder, danger, suspence and keeps you on the very edge, keeping you turning the page to read what happens next, with a little romance, looking forward to reading more books from this author
I thoughly enjoyed this book. Gabe brought out his sensitivity even though he was all protective over Abby. Can't wait to read about more of the heroes in this series.
