Weird

SPOILERS!

Weird interactions BETWEEN the characters. Weird reactions FROM the characters. The plot was weird, the hidden marriage was weird. Their were weird teasers that weren’t ever explained.

I was intrigued by the plot line. Like other readers, someone I care about suffers from epilepsy. And until it was understood, the condition certainly caused people to be ostracized, even vilified. But although that’s understood, this was a very strange book.

Jane is a good example of this. She is portrayed as both a loving and supportive sister and a strange sort of proud, self-centered person. Then you have Bingley, who adores her to the exclusion of everything else- not only failing to see anything negative about her but completely unwilling to see anything beyond her.

Then there’s Mr. Bennet, who is established as being extraordinarily lazy, but constantly screaming at Darcy for his protectiveness and behavior towards Elizabeth.

Finally, Darcy himself - yelling and raging throughout most of the book about how important Elizabeth is to him, but he left her twice when he knew she was or had been mistreated- once to buy a puppy and also after Elizabeth had been whipped. Leaving to buy a puppy was just plain strange, and the second time anyone with half a brain would have sent a messenger and not left Elizabeth alone in a house where she’d been abused.

None of my rambling review will make any sense if you don’t read this book. Suffice it to say, I found it… weird.

What a wonderful story and and what a sad tale also

A story that will keep you turning page after page. I will say I never disliked mrs Bennett as much as I did on this tale and also !r Bennett is a wimp. ODC stacks every plus rifle nut love triumphs in the end beware of the physical abuse and mental.abuse but it brought this wonderful.heart aching story to life. As one who suffers from epilepsy ...I felt lizzys pain.....WELL DONE

ugh

So many things about this book are just awful. There are at least 3 characters with inconsistent personalities. One minute they’re nice, then next they’re cruel, and then back to nice again. The premise is not plausible either.

Really Disappointing

The story just dragged on and on and on. It felt contrived. I just kept waiting for the story to flow and it just never did

A disappointment.

As my siblings and daughter as epilepsy, I do found that aspect interesting.
However, this author did no favors for the characters.
She made Wickham more likeable. However, she made Mrs. Bennett abusive, Mr. Bennett uncaring, selfish and almost completely unlikable. She even made Jane a horrible sister.
I liked the aspect with Miss Bingley.
However, making the Colonel so hateful and disagreeable, really was unneeded.
Elizabeth was made to be little more than a servant in her own. Even, the Gardniers didn't get away without being made unlikable.
Then, the author had a few places that seemed as if she had forgotten what she had written earlier or changed her mind in mid chapter.
The idea that Darcy and Elizabeth had to hide their marriage so long after by he danger was over, made no sense.
In the last few chapters, suddenly everyone was back to themselves, felt tacked on.
I'm sure some may like it, though, what the changes were in this second edition, to make it award winning, I have no idea.
The idea could've been much better executed. I know that in that time, people that had seizures were very down upon, people were affair of them. And, not much long before this time,it was thought people with this illness were evil or possessed, but, how Elizabeth's family (esp mother) and friends reacted was overdone and cruel.
I suggest the next time the author wants to use this theme, perhaps, don't make all those around the sick person, be hateful band uncaring. Just because a person has epilepsy doesn't make them less of a person. Nor, does it make that person worthless, unable to do things. Lastly, I hated the high handed way Darcy did everything. Granted it was supposed to be out of love, but, much of the time it didn't come across that way. Then, make Elizabeth a weakling!?

Hidden Strength

This is a very different portrayal of Lizzy than I am use to. So much of the plot is from Darcy’s POV with interactions and dialogue from characters he encounters. It felt quite strange to have a version of Lizzy that came across so weak and needing help and repeated rescuing. I really did appreciate the whole unique situation Lizzy was in though. I have never had such a visceral negative reaction to Mrs. Bennet as I did in this story. OMGoodness. As well, I was struck by how disengaged Mr. Bennet was. I was also not expecting who actually masterminded harm to Lizzy. Lots of action, coordinated efforts and great dialogue particularly between the men-Darcy, Wickham, Fitzwilliam and Bingley- made this novel hard to put down. In the end, it was VERY satisfying to see the “not-so-nice” individuals getting exactly what they deserved while a HEA with a very bright loving future became a reality for our beloved couple.

I loved it!

Warning: It is rated for mature audiences. It contains scenes of physical abuse.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. This is a Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice variation. This is a 2nd edition completely rewritten with new scenes.

This story is about a young lady, socially excluded with a secret and a young, eligible, socially awkward, bachelor. What happens when their worlds collide and the young man learns her secret? Can Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy overcome social bias and familial pressure to find true love? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

Love

I love the romance, however I wished Mrs. Bennett was different. Abuse is evident.
I loved the style it was written in and the the fine line of innocences and reality woven together.
Colonel Fitzwilliam I really disliked (almost hated) in the beginning and his redemption was unexpectedly well written.
There had to be villains but thankfully the author gave Wickham a vastly different role. Miss Bingley and Mrs. Bennett were the villains and in a neglectful respect so was Mr. Bennett.
I cried, laughter out loud, and even blurted out commands to what characters were saying a few times (I’ve never done that out loud before🫣).
I highly recommend this story and the audio version too!

Enthralling interesting fantastic

What a fantastic read! Incredibly written and extraordinary detailing in the story. This story from beginning to end enthralled me. I loved how different the characters ate. I'm amazed with how much this story changed. Great job and well worth the read. Recommended to mature readers.
I loved how dominate Darcy was, but not overly aggressive or possessive. I truly love Colonel Fitzwilliam and Wickham. Mrs Bennett is evil, but Mr Bennett did redeem himself a little. The Bennett sisters are fantastic even though they don't know how to deal with the situation

Elizabeth Bennet Falls

What would happen if there is a life threatening illness? That is one of the differences of this novel versus canon Pride and Prejudice. How does this change effect our beloved couple and their happily ever after?

It makes for a super emotionally charged love story. Darcy is incredibly loving and protective. Elizabeth has much to overcome. The villains are surprising and will get theirs in the end.

This will take all day to read or to be read over several days.

In which Lizzy is the abused scapegoat daughter with a secret and Darcy falls in love with her at their first meeting. The plotting is full of holes, and Darcy, after swearing to keep Lizzy's secret, goes around telling it to all his friends and relations, admittedly with good intentions, but that's how the villain of the piece overhears it. Oh, and he travels a week at speed to go to Scotland on the theory that one of his tenants might have a puppy suitable for Lizzy. Luckily (or by author fiat), one does, but really?

Entertaining

I enjoyed this book, Darcy notices Elizabeth almost immediately. Their relationship goes through various trials per expected. However there were time that I didn't like Darcy very much, the same for the Colonel. Their reactions at times seemed knee-jerk and excessive. Wickham makes a surprising appearance as well. There were hints of issues with Jane that also never seemed to go anywhere. All in all, a pleasant read.

Just Okay

I did not feel like this was the Elizabeth and Darcy I know. I am sorry but Lizzy was just too weak and Darcy actually talked too much.

I really could not see how Darcy fell in love with her. The book kept hinting at Jane not being as nice as she portrayed herself to be but nothing came from it.

Not horrible but not great either.

Loved the book

The book was amazing, I love that Elizabeth was different, but I saw the same. I love that Mr. Bennett was very different, and could not overcome that. I love that Jane had a different take as well. She was more outspoken more vocal. That was a good change for Jane. The book was absolutely amazing and I would love to read more from her.

painful and dragging

Ugh…I am not a P&P purist, but this variation was too much. All the characters’ major personalities were changed, and were made so extreme to be almost farcical. There was nothing realistic about any of the interactions between families. Such a bad bad variation

I am a reader not a writer.

I read your first book and loved it. The book was sweet and loving, but this book was so different. I couldn't guess what was going to happen next. You made every single page interesting I enjoyed reading this book. Thank you. D Cooper

a beautiful, little bit angsty story

Though the writing was a little repetitive at times, and it could have used a little more editing, this was a very good story. I don’t think it is truly regency in language or behavior, but it was still entertaining.

This is a story of a very caring Darcy and a troubled Elizabeth. She suffers from a Falling desease and a horrible mother. The story was a bit sad for a while,
but I loved it. Some of the other charaters are OOC, but that worked just fine.
