She’s the girl next door. One of our best friends. We all want her, but none of us can have her.
I’ve spent the past sixteen years looking out for her, protecting her from all the dangers of the world. A shoulder to cry on when her friends were mean. Fists when people threatened her.
But somewhere along the way, feelings changed, intensified.
Now she’s who I dream of when I close my eyes. She’s the yardstick I use to measure all other women and men. She’s who I want…
But I can’t have her. Neither can my two best friends and bedmates.
It would be all kinds of wrong.
It’s why she won’t ever know.
It doesn’t matter how deranged it makes us feel to watch her with other guys. She’ll get to experience life, to grow up and do all the things that we got to do at her age. Even if it kills us.
I’m Jason. And along with my buddies Peter and Jarrod, this is our story.
Where to start with this book? Did I enjoy it? Not really. Will I read the next one? Perhaps.
The bad: 1. There is no real romance in this book. Our h is Katy and though she is in love with her neighbors she’s only 16 so nothing ever happens between them.
2. The spice. This book has spice but it’s never between our h and the guys. These boys (they are like 29 but act like 16 year olds) are doing everyone but the h, whom they also claim to love? Hate it.
3. The relationship between our guys. There are three guys who all kind of date each other but only one is out as bisexual. They frequently bang other people but still sleep in the same bed. It’s an undefined relationship that includes lots of sex. I don’t mind mm, in fact I prefer my rh books to include it, however, I didn’t like how these guys were already in their weird relationship and we don’t really get to see it unfold.
4. Peter. Ugh, that guys.
5. Jarrod. He’s barely even in this book. We get like one chapter from his pov and then we barely even see his name again. Like he’s not around at all. It’s an interesting choice by our author.
6. Needs a really good edit. Lots of errors like using know instead of no, or leaving out words altogether.
Now for the good, because, though at times I almost threw the towel in, I did in fact finish this:
1. Jason. He’s what you want from your heroes.
2. I guess I kinda liked that our girl, Katy, had issues. In other words she’s not perfect. I did however expect some dark secret in her life to pop up to explain why she was so insecure but we don’t get that.
That’s it. Like I said, if I remember when the next book is released I may read it but I’m not recommending it to anyone either.

I read the whole story, but parts of it made me uncomfortable. Three guys live together and have sexually fluid relationships with each other, as well as female hook-ups. In spite of their free-spirited ways, they profess to be in love with their female neighbor, who is 16 and12 years their junior. The story is set in Canada, which has different ages of consent than the US. The author explains in the content warning.
The guys are quite touchy-feely with their 16-year-old friend, and that is where my discomfort came in. To some extent, their behavior could be considered "grooming" behavior, although that is not how the author portrays it. Please, if you choose to read this book, go in with an open mind. It's not written to be salacious, but to present a culturally different way of accepting a developing love relationship. Her men are truly respectable to her, because she is so young. If you're going to get angry at anyone, be angry with Canada for not protecting their teenagers better. The author lives in Canada, so this is normal for her.
Overall I did like this book, I rated it 3.5 stars , this will not be for everyone though. There is a blurb at the beginning from the author which I do appreciate, it explains certain taboos in the book which are different from other countries or areas of the world which is important to note. That said, if age gap romances, especially with someone who still is technically a minor although it is legal, are not your thing I wouldn’t recommend reading this, it is not going to be for everyone. For me I normally don’t mind an age gap romances just not at this age range personally.. I did like this book as a whole but that age of Katy combined with some of her immaturity wasn’t always it, there was just some parts that weren’t for me because she seemed to be a lot younger than her age of 16 which is still very young. I did however like that the 3 guys were quite respectful of Katy and I do appreciate that Katy also has some things in her life that happened that cause her to be more withdrawn and/or insecure but sometimes she just seemed like a baby, especially when described as inconsolable on a few occasions. All of that aside, there wasn’t any actual physical romance or intimacy between the FMC and the MMCs just a lot of angst on both sides which is why I didn’t mind it for the most part.
It did have a lot of spicey scenes, I did like the relationship between Jason and Peter as I do like an MM romance as well (I didn’t include Jarrod because there were no spicey scenes with him and the other guys just him and another woman - though they are all in an open fluid relationship). There was also a good amount of scenes with the guys individually with other woman which I wouldn’t have normally liked, but I also understood why because there’s reasons behind why they are getting with all these random women and you get their thought process behind that during being with these other women, so I don’t mind because there was some explanation to it. I also really liked the sexual identification representation in this book especially with Jason who is openly bi-sexual. The other guys are not open with it at least not in this book but I still liked the relationship dynamic between the 3 guys.
I loved Jason, he was the best character in the book in my opinion. Peter is an ass, and Jarrod is only mentioned a few times within this first book but that didn’t really bother me as I feel like there will likely be more development of these characters in the second book. Although the guys are 28-29 years of age, they should be more « mature » but then I think , most guys at this age in real life are just as much if not more immature than these characters so it makes sense.
I did note that there was some grammar errors, nothing too major but definitely noticeable. Some words were supposed to be something but spelled as a different word (know and now) but one thing I noticed that did slightly affect my reading was that sometimes the POVs would be mixed up. I had to go back to the beginning of the chapters sometimes and make sure I was in the right POV in my head because the POV chapter character would mention their own name in reference to another character and would be confusing at times. I think it was only a handful of times but still had me confused here and there.
Overall I did like the book and it kept me engaged and wanting to know what would happen. I love a slow burn romance and this definitely was, I thought that was done really well. I don’t care if a book ends in a cliff hanger and sometimes I look for that so for me that was good but for some people that might not be good. There were some pros and cons in this book but I will read the second one as I am interested in where the story goes and how much, if at all, these characters further develop.
This book was. Not my cup of tea. The writing itself was good. The author definitely has a talent for wielding language.
However.
The everything else was the problem.
I have no idea how this book managed to have a why choose situation with triple sword crossing and still read like a tradwife fetish work. That’s a special skill.
I may have deconstructed, but I was raised southern conservative, so I love a good age gap, but this made me feel ten kinds of gross. The fmc is sixteen (notably legal-ish where the author is from) and the story leans hard into that. From the fmc’s fear of “growing up” to the mmcs agreeing to let her get some world experience before they make their move (while simultaneously fantasizing about her body with each other) her age is at the absolute forefront of the whole plot.
She’s also very “not like other girls”. Intimidated by makeup, loves cooking and cleaning for the mmcs, utterly innocent and nurturing. She’s the ideal I used to strive for, back when my favorite accessory was the purity ring my dad gave me.
Maybe I’m being too harsh and this book will help someone with their trauma or just be a fun read for some. It was, unfortunately, not that for me. I won’t be moving on to the next book.
Also, side note, I feel like every other line was referencing either a past book or a future one with all the random throuples being commented on. That was a weird vibe.
If s3xual assault of a minor is a trigger for you, then don’t read this book. The story is set in Canada where the legal age of consent is 16, so anyone from other countries such as the USA, may be uncomfortable with the age gap between certain characters. It is probably best to read the author’s note warning in the beginning of the book.
This book was released after the Red Line Series and had spelling and some grammatical errors but not as many as the Red Line Series. This book also mixed up the names of the characters, such as Peter’s name changing to Jason in chapter 19.
Jason is the most mature of the men. Peter is immature; he has the self control of teenager which is sad since he is a grown man. ( Peter thinks with his peni5 like a h0rny teenage boy ). Jarrod is nice but his character didn’t get much attention in this book. I like Katy, she doesn’t deserve the sh*ty things that happen to her.
I read the Red Line Series which was full of spelling and grammatical errors. TB Mann does not appear to have books proofread before publication. Unfortunate.
This book ends on a cliffhanger … onward to book two, DISORDERLY.
The grammar is terrible. Even tho there's a "warning" about it being Canadian English, that was not the problem. Multiple times the person telling their version would say the wrong name, like Jason is telling his point of view and says "Jason leaned over me..." You mean Peter leaned? Also, this story just stops. It takes place over, what a week, and then just stops. I'm supposed to buy 3 books to complete the story, but book 1 was not even a whole story. There's a difference in cliffhanger and just ending. Not my cup of tea, won't be reading the last 2
Book had some interesting things but the negative outweighed the positive for me. I didn’t particularly care for anyone except Jason- he seemed decent and the only one who seemed to care for Katy. I also didn’t mind the age-gap and overall “taboo-ness” of the story though it doesn’t help when you make a fmc that’s immature and cries all the time (Made her seem younger than she was). I also didn’t need to read the the guys when they were with other women. Gross.
I didn't know it was not a standalone story in a book series.... The cliffhanger???? No no no ! I want more ! Jason is the best boyfriend and husband material. Jarod was ok. Not so much in this book. Peter was just trash ! Poor Katy she doesn't deserve what happened only because her manwh0re crush !

The theoretical relationship is legal but it feels so icky, because the bonds between characters are poorly developed and she is so immature. I also agree with an another review that the men are pretty immature as well, but her being 16 and immature makes it feel gross. Hard to describe, but it didn’t come off like grooming to me, more like stupidity and weirdness.
2.5 ⭐ This seemed more like a prequel rather than the first book of a duet. I didn't understand that going into it, so now I'm left pretty unsatisfied. Its not that this was bad, but it didn't feel like a complete book.
This was ok and I understand the slow build of the romance, but there were a few too many graphic sec scenes with other women, which is not something I wanna read, I want all on page spice to be with the fmc or mmcs.
Peter is a selfish jerk, Jerod is almost non-existent and Jason is the only one who cares. Katy has to stop being nice to Peter and cut ties, but I know she won't!
this isn't going the way the description led me to believe it would & honestly it's not my cup of tea & why I haven't picked it back up since April last year. Got this via SYD day & kinda disappointed though not exactly surprised that I feel this way.
I realize that nothing happened with Katy but i didn't enjoy the dynamic between all the guys and her. I felt the book would have worked better if she was 17 and almost done with school.
