Je-oh arbeitet als Prostituierter. Eines Tages wird er zusammen mit einem anderen Mann von einem geheimnisvollen Typen entführt. Er setzt alles ein, um irgendwie aus seinem Gefängnis zu fliehen – er versucht sogar, seinen Peiniger zu verführen. Doch dieser lässt sich nicht so einfach täuschen. Trotzdem schafft er es, dass sich Seong-rok etwas öffnet und Licht in die ganze Sache kommt.

manhwa is still ongoing | finished 3 seasons

the highlight of this BL is ofc the main character, Li Je-oh. if ur tired of ur typical wishy-washy loosy-floozy bottom damsels, Je-oh is ur man. he has agency and is smart and saves the top's perky ass on a few occasions. he's definitely the beating heart of this story.

the main lead: starts out as a cold cool type for the first five seconds, but actually a softboi at heart. worships Je-oh like the treasure he is.

the main couple: ride or die, so chef's kiss!

there is a budding side couple, but they only sprout around S3.

the themes: criminal underworld, corruption, prostitution and 50 shades of abuse (!not between the main couple!). so trigger warnings aplenty.

female characters: seasoned BL veterans know that women in BL are rarely dealt a fair hand (though things have been changing somewhat), and unfortunately, this manhwa is not an exception to the rule. there is only one female character of note, the principle antagonist, and although the author tries to portray her as a complex character, the fact remains that she's there to be rolled into the asphalt by the main couple and maybe that would have been ok if there had been other prominent female characters, but there is literally none (i think making one of the police officers a woman would have been a good move, but alas.)

anyway, aside from that, if this sounds right up ur alley, give it a try. this manhwa is tragically underrated!

Ok so this kinda ate.
It's reminiscent of both blind play and killing stalking but Je-oh is a badass and Seong-rok isn't a delusional psychopath. This is also more of a romance than both of those.

Von der Story her ist es wohl trotz allem nur ein Teaser, ein gut gemachter, anregender Teaser aber eben nur der Auftakt zu einer Story. Es wird die kalte, mysteriöse Grundstimmung gesetzt und die Protagonisten werden gezeigt aber bleiben noch im unterkühlt Vagen und die Motivation zu ihrem Treiben bleibt hinter einer blasierten Maske verborgen oder wird mit gespielten Gefühlen überdeckt. Sex ist eine Ware und Emotionen Schwäche aber wie sollte es auch anders sein, wenn ein Killer einen Strichjungen und dessen Zuhälter entführt und sie dann gegeneinander kämpfen lässt. Es werden Andeutungen eingestreut, warum er Je-Oh nicht auch umbringt, wo er bei anderen scheinbar nicht gezögert hat, aber das wars dann auch schon. Ich werde im 2. Band etwas mehr brauchen, um bei der Stange zu bleiben. Vorerst reicht das film-noir Versprechen, das die Charakterzeichnung der Figuren liefert, und die Stimmung, die durch die kargen aber pointierten Bilder ensteht.

Dass der Zeichner den Panels Platz lässt, um zu wirken und die Sexszenen nicht mit den üblichen, platten Mitteln zensiert werden ist ein deutlicher Pluspunkt, wie auch die Optik der Protagonisten, von daher runde ich das Rating trotz des sparsamen Plots diesmal noch auf.

killing stalking but not fucked up au. we're not stalking anyone, we're only killing bad guys. there's some consensual kidnapping (the ever relevant fantasy of being kidnapped by a hot hitman instead of having to go to work👌). surprisingly non-problematic despite the setting and almost woke by bl manhwa standards - perfect if you want something edgy and gritty but not dark or taboo. the main character actually has a personality. the plot is interesting and there's a good plot-romance balance. love the evil ladyboss. actually, this makes me pretty excited for the future of fucked up bl manhwa genre😌

Bueno, había leído hasta el capítulo 63 hace 3 años por lo cual no me acordaba de absolutamente nada salvo que a) me estaba re gustando y b) amaba al pelirrojo. Como hoy me llegó la notificación de que se terminó de publicar (hace UN MES encima, y recién me enteré hoy ??), salió relectura para apreciar la historia como debe ser apreciada. La realidad es que me gustó, aunque la recordaba un poco mejor. El dibujo es muy lindo a pesar de que en la 3º temporada cambiaron de artista y decayó un poco. Also in diesem unzensierten Werk erwarten uns jede Menge Psychopathen. Je-Oh ist für mich ein undurchsichtiger Protagonist, welcher seine derzeitige Position verabscheut (verständlicherweise) und seine Spielchen treibt, um seiner Hölle zu entkommen. Als er zufällig auch noch entführt wird, sieht er diesen Umstand als Chance an und ist bei weitem nicht so beunruhigt wie er vermutlich sein sollte. Der Entführer lässt Willkür walten, kümmert sich aber nichtsdestotrotz gut um seine Gefangenen, aber was genau bezweckt er damit? Obwohl mir der Einstieg prinzipiell gut gefallen hat, habe ich mir doch insgeheim mehr erhofft. Ich weiß das es sich um eine Reihe handelt und die vielen Fragen, die sich bei mir getürmt haben, wahrscheinlich nach und nach noch beantwortet werden, doch etwas mehr Input hätte ich persönlich schön gefunden. Die positiven Eindrücke habe ich vor allem aus der gefährlichen/bedrohlichen Stimmung, welche sich für mich durch den ganzen Band gezogen hat und mich sehr stark einnehmen konnte sowie aus den unzensierten Gewaltszenen, die mich doch zum Teil überraschen konnten (das passiert selten genug). Bin ich neugierig? Definitiv! Werde ich die Reihe weiterverfolgen? Auch das kann ich mit einem ja beantworten, wobei ich es davon abhängig mache, wie viele Informationen wir in den nächsten Teilen erhalten. Inhaltlich muss es sich auf jeden Fall noch etwas steigern, um mich bei der Stange zu halten. Fazit: Ein mysteriöser, brutaler Einstieg in eine neue Reihe, in der es vor Psychopathen offenbar nur so wimmelt, wobei die Beweggründe der einzelnen Figuren noch etwas zu stark im Dunkeln liegen.

Lo primero que voy a decir de este manhwa es que fácil entra en la lista de gustos culposos. Cuando leí la sinopsis le tuve miedo, pero lo hermoso de los dibujos me ganó.

¡Y estoy contenta que eso haya ocurrido! No me esperé que esto me gustara TANTO. No solo es porque el arte es bellísimo, también por los dos protagonistas que, a mi parecer, son espectaculares. Sus personalidades me gustan, en especial la de Jeoh, y siento que aún cuando han hecho cosas malas merecen ser felices debido a todo lo malo que han pasado.

También la trama es interesante y me atrapó por completo, tiene sus toques de misterio y policial que así como me encanta me tiene al borde del miedo esperando que nada malo le pase a Seongrok y a Jeoh.

Espero actualicen pronto, no quiero dejar esto en el olvido.

2.5 Sterne. Das ist so eine Lese-Erfahrung, wo ich einfach mal ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ fühle. Die Zeichnungen sind super und die Grundidee fand ich auch interessant, aber der Band endet irgendwie etwas abgeschnitten mittendrin und der Hauptcharakter hat einen perversen Kink für Gewalt (Sadist?) und fokussiert sich wirklich stetig auf das Sexuelle, was mir bei der vierten/fünften Situation langsam zu viel wurde. Ein Teil von mir möchte gerne weiterlesen, weil der Titel "Pawn's Revenge" mich so anfixt, aber wenn das so weiterläuft im nächsten Fall wie jetzt, lohnt sich das für mich nicht.

Mi parte racional dándole un 4/5: a ver, está genial? Lo está, pero el principio se me hizo un poco abrupto y confuso, hay personajes que me sobraban (la mayoría me ha caído más bien mal), y momentos de tensión "raros". No merece un 5/5.

This is like Killing Stalking but includes a uno reverse card to which the guys have different personalities to Yeon Bum and Sangwoon Oh. In this story, Je-oh is more a flirty type who doesn’t care if he’s kidnapped as long as he’s not out on the streets and is with his lover 24/7. Whereas with Seong-rok, he is a hot edgy tsundere who has a lady in the background and just wants to kill what he’s ordered to do. The amount of sex scenes are well done and yeah that’s all I can say by not trying to sound awkward here..

Der Manwha hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Ich mochte damals „Killing Stalking“, einen ähnlichen Manwha wie diesen, obwohl ich sonst eher keine Psycho-Mangas mag. Doch „The Pawn's Revenge“ ist noch besser.
Als Bonus gab es noch eine SNS Card dazu, die war jetzt aber nicht der Hit.
Es geht hier um einen jungen Mann, der gezwungen wird sich zu prostituieren. Plötzlich werden nach und nach die Leute, die ihn dazu zwingen, ermordet. Man beobachtet sowohl die Perspektive von Je-oh (dem Prostituierten) als auch von dem Auftragskiller. Irgendwann treffen die beiden dann zusammen und Je-oh wird von ihm gekidnappt. Je-oh ist kein 'typisches' Opfer. Er ist selbst ein bisschen Psycho, ob er das von Geburt an war, oder ob sein hartes Leben ihn dazu gemacht hat, weiß man nicht. Auf jeden Fall ist er kein weinerlicher Typ und so wird das Zusammentreffen/Zusammenleben von ihm und dem Auftragskiller interessant. Auch seine Interaktionen mit seinen Peinigern sind interessant.
Das alles machte es mega spannend und interessant. Außerdem fragt man sich wer den Auftrag für die Morde gibt und wie noch alles weiter laufen wird.
Der Zeichenstil ist auch interessant und der Manwha ist komplett in Farbe. Die Panels sind sehr atmosphärisch gezeichnet und die Story wird interessant vermittelt. Die erotischen und brutalen Szenen sind zwar teilweise explizit aber nicht zu häufig. Oft wird einfach sehr geschickt durch Körperhaltung und Kleidung kaschiert. So war das ganze sehr angenehm, da ich das oft erotischer finde, als ständig alles zu sehen.
Ich werde die Reihe trotz des hohen Preises daher weiterlesen.

Quin viatge aquesta sèrie!!! Una passada les il·lustracions i com es va enredant la trama ♥️ és un BL fosc de l'estil de Killing Stalking. Season 1, Vol. 1 però amb un rerefons més policíac i bandes criminals. Tant de bo es publiqués en castellà perquè el compraria segur segur!!
Socorrito, per què he obert la porta als manhwa? Emosido engañao per les il·lustracions a color i los chiquitos misteriosos... Història ben tèrbola, amb personatges orfes i molt de trauma infantil, però amb trama estil thriller que enganxa. Soc una basic bitch, sue me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tóm gọn nội dung chia ra thành 2 tuyến có liên kết chặt kẽ với nhau:
1. Tình yêu giữa sát nhân và trai bao được hình thành và phát triển từ một vụ bắt cóc.
2. Hành trình điều tra phá án tìm ra thủ phạm thật sự và những kẻ liên quan trong các vụ án mạng, mất tích cùng những tội ác khác của phe cảnh sát chính nghĩa.
1/3 đầu truyện đọc siêu chán, về sau khi 2 nhân vật Ju-oh và Seong-rol có được mối liên kết rõ ràng, chung số phận và kẻ thù chung, lúc này truyện mới trở nên hấp dẫn hơn nhiều.
Nhân vật được chăm chút về nội tâm. Nói sơ qua một chút về 2 nhân vật chính (có thể có spoil từ đoạn này):
- Je-oh khi học cấp 3 bị bán vào nhà thổ, trở thành trai bao, dùng thân xác kiếm tiền trả khoản nợ lãi suất khổng lồ. Nhân vật này có ngoại hình được đánh giá thu hút và rất nhiều người thèm muốn cậu. Về tính cách, Je-oh tỉnh táo, lý trí, thực tế và có khả năng kiểm soát tình thế tốt, sâu bên trong mong mỏi về tình yêu, cuộc sống bình yên và sống ngây thơ như ngày bé.
- Seong-rok bị bỏ rơi, lớn lên ở trại trẻ mồ côi, luôn khao khát một gia đình. Sau này gặp được một người phụ nữ, tin tưởng cô ta và nghe theo trở thành một kẻ giết người.
Manhwa này đi theo hướng hiện thực, phô bày trần trụi cuộc sống khốn khổ của những con người ở dưới đáy làm việc trong khu phố đèn đỏ. Cuộc sống giữa người cầm quyền và kẻ bị áp bực được thể hiện chênh lệch rất rõ nét.
Giữa con người với con người trong truyện có thể phát sinh rất nhiều loại quan hệ và suy nghĩ, bao gồm thương hại, yêu thương, phản bội, lợi dụng,… Trong xã hội luôn tồn tại những tốt xấu xong hành và trong con người cũng như vậy.
Sống trong bóng tối nhưng Je-oh vẫn luôn hy vọng vào ánh sáng, sự cữu rỗi bản thân, và khi gặp được Seong-rok, cả 2 đã giải thoát cho nhau. Mối quan hệ này như một sự bù trừ, người này bù cho những gì người kia còn thiếu, chữa lành cho nhau và hướng đến tương lai tốt đẹp.
Ban đầu mối quan hệ giữa Je-oh, Seong-rok hoàn toàn dựa vào quan hệ xác thịt, sau đó họ tìm ra điểm chung và dần trở thành tình cảm lớn mạnh, coi người kia là mục tiêu sống, dựa dẫm vào đó để phát triển. Ban đầu mình khá chán khi xem cảnh quan hệ của 2 người, chỉ tập trung vào những cuộc đối thoại đầy hài hước và thú vị, nhưng sau này cảnh làm tình khiến mình cảm thấy đầy tình yêu và sự thăng hoa về mặt cảm xúc khiến mình chú ý hơn vào nó. Tình yêu giữa 2 người này cực kỳ thu hút, họ đặt cược bản thân vào đối phương, càng về sau người đọc càng bị cuốn vào.
Cuộc đấu trí giữa cảnh sát và tội phạm không quá căng thẳng, nhưng nó là một cuộc đấu được tác giả đầu tư kỹ lưỡng khi có sự tham gia của cả cảnh sát được mua chuộc, giới chính trị, quản lý các khu vực tệ nạn,… Mình thích yếu tố quân cờ và cách diễn giải nó trong những trang truyện.
Các nhân vật chính và thứ chính trong truyện có chiều sâu nội tâm rõ ràng. Je-oh và Seong-rok thường soi chiếu bản thân trong quá khứ, những gì đã trải qua với những gì đang diễn ra hiện tại, 2 nhân vật này hiện lên một cách chân thực và rõ nét vô cùng. Các nhân vật thứ chính cũng thể hiện rõ khát khao và tham vọng của bản thân về cuộc sống mà họ hướng đến.
Bộ truyện này siêu hay, có yếu tố chữa lành và càng về sau càng đỉnh. Tác giả đã sáng tác một kết truyện vô cùng nhân văn: Người xấu phải trả giá và nạn nhân được giải thoát. Mình thích cái kết này rất nhiều.
“The Pawn’s Revenge” đã khiến mình xúc động rất nhiều, cảm ơn vì tất cả.

Okay, so I'm putting my review on the first book, but I have by this point read them all.

This series had me in a choke hold because of how WELL the red-light district is portrayed, and how spectacular the circumstances and characters are shown in this book. Espeically Lee Je-oh, his situation is tragic and he makes the best choices he can given the situations he's faced with. I also really enjoyed how this series hit on the reality of lesser talked about situations in a way that doesn't glorify them.

This isn't a light fluffy series, but a more deep thinking kind of read. But everything is portrayed well, and does it have an overall happy ending. I will read, and re-read until the angst lets go of me- if it ever does.

Solid, nothing too surprising with all the twist and turns, a bit too smutty for me, plot was really good and i wouldve loved to see more plot, the focus on the detective was kind of random but good enough, a solid 4 out of 5 -> enjoyed my time with it
