I just wanted to get out of my little town, leave the past behind.
I found Turner and Roark, embraced music, and unloaded my pain into my songs. I wanted to show people I could be their voice since I know what it’s like to be small, quiet, and terrified.
But what happens when Derek, my former bully, pops back into my life with hurtful words and tries to force me back into my past ?
Derek bullied me all through high school and encouraged others to torture me. I haven’t had a safe place until I found the guys and music. Now he thinks I owe him for past wrongs, but I’ve never done anything to him. I wish he’d tell me the reason why he hates me so much so I could defend myself. He makes me think I’m losing my mind, seeing things that aren’t really there—that I've inherited the mental illness that runs in my family.
We are thrown together over and over again by fate, and the more I learn the more I see…maybe the villains of my past are really just victims of their own circumstances.
The Darkest Chord is book one in the Darkest Nights duet, a dark reverse harem romance. This means that the female main character will have three or more love interests and will not have to choose in the end. This book has a trigger warning for: will be updated soon.
Note: so Derek isn’t just a bully. Oh no no idk why i didn’t find any reviews mentioning this shit or else I wouldn’t have read this shit if it was the last rh in the fucking world
He was always kind of mixing the FMC with her mother, saying they’re both whores and yadda yadda. Because he caught Carrie (FMC mother) fucking his daddy. He also stayed and watched a lil bit, because he and Carrie were staring at each other while daddy dearest went to town. He went to his bedroom and jacked off to it later. You think this is bad?
HE LOST HIS FUCKING VIRGINITY TO HER MOTHER, and we allll get to see it in a wonderful flashback. It still made him hard 😊
He is a love interest. The dream.

I wanted so badly to like The Darkest Chord because I love the relationship between Lennon, Turner, and Roark. I love that Lennon uses her experiences to fuel her music and that her passion helps others and gives her listeners something to hang onto. However, this book was not for me.
I like a good bully trope as much as the next person, but this triggered everything in me because it made no sense whatsoever. It's so unbelievable to me that with everything Derek put her through, she'd ever in any way entertain the idea of being with him. It made zero sense to me and it put me off the rest of the book. I had to fight myself to even finish reading. As someone who's had some bad experiences, though nothing nearly as awful as Lennon, I just couldn't wrap my head around this. His abrupt turnaround in perspective just because he found out one thing about her was way too convenient. No one who was so set in their hatred, who practically tortured this person for several years, would ever just do a 180 like that. It was convenient for the storyline, but didn't work at all for me.
This book seemed to drag a lot. Some parts felt like I was reading the same sex scene over and over. It took forever for anything to happen in places and I just couldn't seem to get through the book. The reveals of certain information seemed drug out way more than necessary and I found myself urging the characters to just get on with it.
The ending was a bit kitschy to me and really came out of left field. It didn't really seem to flow as well with how the rest of the book had gone. Her guys, and the rest of the band, have been hovering around her to make sure that she was protected. So why didn't they hear her screaming and upset about the big reveal that happened before she left the venue? They never would've allowed what happened at the end to happen so where were they?
I really did love the relationship that Lennon, Turner and Roark share though. I love how open they are with each other and that they've built this solid support system. Life is about finding someone or someones whose broken pieces match our own and I really got that feeling from those three. I loved seeing Lennon take Layla under her wing and finally get that girl friend that she was needing. The interactions with Lennon's two other band members were really cute too! Honestly, the whole band absolutely made this book!
Raise your hand if you've ever been personally victimized by Jenn Bullard. 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
This group of misfits have been through hell and back and somehow grew up to be the best human beings ever. I love how they genuinely care about their fans and provide the best advice. Some of those fans stories will have you in tears so carry tissues while you read this one.
One minute you want to unalive a person and the next you want to hold them close and keep them safe. This was definitely one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride.
This started out strong and I was excited for the story. Then I think it just became too much, too fast. Too many things just kept piling up, between the past abuse, her mom's mental illness, the bullying, Derek and EVERYTHING that goes with him, then turning into finding her dad and uncle and stepsister and then her mom comes back and kidnaps her!?!?!? There was just too much. I like conflict and drama but...
I loved how she used her past as fuel for her music writing and her connection with the fans was great. And I appreciate the connection between her and her band mates but I feel Derek should've had to do a shit ton more grovelling.

So there were some things I really loved about this book and a few I really didn’t. I did enjoy reading it as whole though.
First, I thought it was unique that we start the book with FMC in an established relationship with 2 guys and then one is added as the book goes on. I also really enjoyed the steamy scenes of this book. They were what really kept me hooked when I was struggling a bit to get into the story.
I also really loved the development of Derek’s character. His plot line was the best part of the book for me. He’s one of those characters who is a real jerk but you can just tell there is a good guy who just needs to be loved under it all.
The part of the book I struggled with was the FMC. I personally like my FMC’s to be more on the tougher side, so I found Lennon to be a bit needy and the way the guys treated her was a bit childish at times.
Things really ended on a high note (no pun intended 😂) with an intense cliffhanger. A new character comes into play that really turned the whole story around and that really got me excited for the next book.
I desperately wanted to give this 5* but I’m settling on 4.5*
Mainly this is because I felt like Derek and Lennon’s turnaround in their relationship was just a bit too quick. I feel like Derek should have done more grovelling. I’m glad we saw his POV when he finds out that basically everything he thought he knew about her in high-school was wrong, we saw his change of heart and his struggle with coming to terms with that he liked her more than he hated her.
I saw every single ‘plot twist’ coming. None of it surprised me at all. Haven’t worked out what the ‘dirty evil scheme’ is that was mentioned at the epilogue in this book as we don’t have any real views on this character other than what we’ve heard in passing.
I’m excited for the next book as I want to see how this poly family will work. The introduction of the side characters in Layla and her band were great. I love Layla and Leo but the other one is a bit of a tool.
The smut was great, so detailed and hot. We get right down into the smut from the get go in chapter one and that’s always a great way to start. It’s nice to come into a book where the characters are in a committed relationship and we don’t have to read through them working out the will they/won’t they phase. Obviously the addition to the already committed group is interesting.
I am also annoyed with the ending, why on earth would Derek choose to tell Lennon this huge secret right before the VIP signing? Surely that would have waited to be discussed when they were back in the tour bus. Obviously the author needed a reason to get her outside but this felt a but stupid and a lazy way to make something work.
I’m enjoying getting small snippets of the guys childhoods, we just haven’t really heard anything about Turner yet and I’m desperate to know where his demons come from.
Can someone please tell me how to get rid of the seemingly permanent scar on my heart? And also if possible can Jenn Bullard please pay for the never ending tissues that I’ve gone thru reading this book.
Another reader asked if anyone else has been personally victimized by Jenn Bullard! Raised hand 🙋🏻♀️. Can you see me? I’m literally standing here with my jaw on the floor, in the puddle of my own tears!
Lennon has gone through some ish while growing up in her small town in Kentucky. But she grew up, got the hell out of dodge and made a name for herself. And she’s happy and healthy. Her two men, and band members are her long term boyfriends. But something threatens that. Her childhood bully would like to insert himself as a main character. Derek. Ugh. I hated him at first. I had a sharp object all ready for him. Then he just somehow wiggled into my subconscious and now I just want cuddle up with him. This book will tear through your heart strings. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. Have the urge to unalive someone. A few someones. I’m so ready for book 2
Ok so it's a pretty good story when there is a story. To much hot times which I love but don't need every paragraph. The guys are what 30s now and talk like children. Derek confused me the most because of this so called trauma he doesn't seem to have much. Trauma is trauma and why he doesn't with the guys or Lennon is to confusing. He's never been with a guy nor thought of it yet ready to jump 2 guys cause they are hot. Idk doesn't make sense honestly. I actually did see her mom still alive because of the smells everywhere. The story with James doesn't much make sense either because when he left he loved his daughter but I guess idk. The way Jordan says it he is basically ashamed of his daughter. I'm confused as if he knew carries was crazy why didn't he take the daughter. Why leave her there in a crazy person's house. Other then that I'm not sure about the rest cause honestly there isn't much story. Derek says he was abused which he was don't get me wrong but he enjoyed most of it too. The stories he remembers later is different then the beginning so im really confused on that too. But please understand he was abused he was underage. And she did sneak in on him when he was sleeping and did abuse him. I'm just mentioning most of the other times. Anyways all the other times is really about getting it on. So not to much story through this 1st book so I'm hoping that the next is much more story. The author however did write the very hot senses very well. And I liked it enough to read the next one. Oh boy I hope they don't think that Derek did anything and honestly Lennon always runs outside kinda childish. She gets herself into it. When is she gonna learn. Now I hope the fight will be worth it because Lennon is fierce and shebcan handle it. No matter what....I know this seems like bashing but it's not. Honestly I just don't understand peoples actions or thoughts and some stories that dont make sense lol. and I do think it's good. That's why I'm on to book 2. I hooe you enjoy it and understand it better then I did. And yes like I said it was enjoyable to read and I do think you will like it and are better then me then understanding some parts.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
I just wanted to get out of my little town, leave the past behind. I found Turner and Roark, embraced music, and unloaded my pain into my new songs. This is the first book in the Darkest Nights duet. It is a dark reverse harem romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It might contain triggers for some readers. This is the story of a group of misfit who find things they need in each other They all have had lives that are far from great and safe. The characters are already in the beginning of the book in a committed relationship Lennon is certainly a girl that lets her past and feeling come out in her music. Her passions in her music really helps others and gives them something to hang on to. Lennon Roark and Turner are the ones in the relationship and are perfectly happy living the life they are. They do have a really beautiful relationship and a bond that will never be broken. However one day her bully that made her life absolutely miserable shows up. I don't want to say anything more about him and ruin something. This book was a good read. It is a duet so expect to have to wait for a second book.
I became addicted to this book pretty quickly. The relationship between the FMC, Lennon, and her guys Roark and Turner, is absolutely beautiful. They completely trust each other, believe in and support each other, and obviously have SO MUCH love for each other. I'd give my left arm to have a relationship like theirs! The 3 of them are in a band called The Darkest Nights (along with 2 other people, who we will come back to), and I seriously wish this band existed in real life. When Jenn describes their performances, and how they feel when they're on stage, I just know they would be one of my favorites. The 2 other members, Atlas and Mav, are probably the best "supporting" characters ever. They're hilarious, but you can tell how much they truly care about Lennon, as friends. All 5 of the members of the band are amazing characters, and I wish I could be friends with them all. There's also another character, Jordan, and I'm not going to say much about him other than I ADORE him. I have no doubt he will quickly become one of your favorite characters too!
Lennon had an extremely difficult childhood, and was bullied relentlessly. Derek, her biggest tormenter, shows up in her present life, and at first you'll HATE him. There's no way around it. But Jenn did a beautiful job of writing this character as well, so you just have to hold on for a bit. There's plenty of suspense and action to keep you on the edge of your seat, there's A LOT of super sexy scenes, there's a ton of humor (especially with Turner around), and there's enough heartbreak and pain to go through an entire box of Kleenex. Once you start, you won't want to do any adulting, at least until you're finished.
Oh, and don't forget about that epic cliffhanger (and plot twist) Jenn keeps us dangling on at the end of the book. She really knows how to make us come back begging for more!! I can't wait until the next book in the series!!
This book is EVERYTHING! The relationship with Lennon, Roark and Turner is what makes it everything. They 100% trust and believe in each other. Roark and Turner are my new favorite book boyfriends. I need them, please where can I find them. Holy Hotness! To me the bond between Lennon, Roark and Turn is unbreakable. In the end they will let nothing tear them apart. NOTHING. I know Derek is adding to their dynamic but I can't get over how unbelievable cohesive their unit is. I want to say more on Derek but I just don't want to give too much away. They never falter. They never waiver. Once they accept you. You are theirs. They would do anything for each other and they will need to be that way to make it through the mess I feel like is to come, because man that cliffhanger combining with the things Derek's dad said.... makes me extremely nervous. The saving grace is I know the guys would move heaven and hell for each other, especially for Lennon. Oh Derek, you may be the "bully" of the story, but you have depth and I like seeing your redemption. Orion... Who is he? What part does play? He is very briefly mentioned in 1 small conversation but I feel like he will be of importance in the future. I need to be slightly honest here. The way Jenn write's these characters you can't help but feel for them and love them. Roark and Turner and even Derek come across as these strong male leads and when you see them interact together in intimate settings you genuinely feel the love, connection and heat between them all. I especially love when the whole band is together and how much they protect eachother as friends who have created their own family. I can not wait for the next book!!! I need it now!
The Darkest Chord has an interesting story that crosses a lot of genres: why-choose/RH with lots of MM, abuse/neglect as a child, bullying, trauma, rockstar, political plotting, sexual abuse of a minor, mental health issues. So, check your triggers before diving in!
We meet 3 of the 5 members of the hottest new band, the Darkest Nights: Lennon O’Reilly, Turner and Roark. They’re in a loving polyamorous relationship at the start, and it’s very clear they thrive on communicating, supporting and loving each other. They’ve all got their terrible histories, with Lennon’s past creating a lot of their music but also a lot of nightmares for her.
Enter Derek: Lennon’s former high school bully who is also secretly in love with her. He has a secretly terrible past as well, one that he’s not willing to confront or confess to anyone. He’s inexplicably drawn the the trio as he joins them on tour as their social media manager.
As the tour progresses, tensions hit an all-time high, secrets are uncovered, and passions ignite. But the past comes back to haunt in a very unexpected way.
I felt that there was a lot of repetition by the characters of insecurities, doubts, worries, etc, almost being in their heads too much. Derek's character arc called to me the most, being the enemies to lovers portion. The story felt a little stalled by the middle third of the book, but picked up really quickly in the final act to the end.
Lots of steamy spice in this one, with plenty of sword-crossing. Lots of discussing of childhood trauma, mostly Lennon’s issues. I wonder if we’ll get a glimpse of turner’s or Roark’s next? The ending had a crazy cliffhanger/mystery that was great!
This book gave me whiplash from the emotional ups and downs, and I mean that in the best way. I love Lennon and all of her broken pieces. She’s dealt with a lot of trauma in her life and she’s worked hard to overcome it, with the help of her band mates - two of whom are in a committed relationship with her as well as each other- and the other who are close friends. I absolutely adore the way her loved ones treat her. The dynamic between Lennon, Turner, and Roark is lovely. They support and love each other unconditionally and it shows on their actions as well as their words. They have an open communication style and it’s clear that they aren’t judging each other for past or present issues. They also respect boundaries and don’t push or make ultimatums to force someone to open up before they’re ready.
There are several other characters that feel more like family and they also show their love and support for Lennon in a lot of little but meaningful ways. It makes for a nice balance to the angst, suspense, and trauma that comes up throughout the book.
There are a few characters who cause issues, of course, to varying degrees. It could have come across as too busy, but it worked out to keep the readers guessing as to who is causing which problems, who is a true threat, and who is a red herring. This book is nice and thick, which gives plenty of room for the complex plot to flow and allows for character development alongside the plot twists.
The spice is super hot 🥵🥵🥵 and decently kïnkÿ!
This does end on a cliffhanger but book two will be out pretty quickly!
I discovered Jenn Bullard last year on her Unwritten Truths Duet and she has always dragged me into her worlds she has created. I honestly and truly feel as though I am right there with the character, and sitting on the edge of my seat every time. Each and every time I read something Jenn, has written I am an emotional wreck. I am addicted with Jenn's writing and can never get enough of it. This book has shot up on my favorites list of the year. From the first page to the last I was invested and I am ready for the next one!
I really loved the FMC Lennon. Every thing that she has been through has made my heart want to go out to her. I love the way that Lennon with some of her MMCs they trust and believe in each other. It makes my heart thump with each moment they had. Now one of the MMCs I honestly wanted to punch him, but I love the connection that each of them feel to each other. I can genuinely feel the love of the FMC and MMCs and I love the way they protect each other.
Steam? Yes, and couldn't get enough. But I loved that it didn't overpower the story, it was just enough.
Overall, I thoughly enjoyed and loved this story. Jenn's stories are amazing, and I will continue to read her books. Her writing speaks in ways that I haven't found in others and I find that so unique. I can't wait to see what else Jenn writes (and also the next book, cause who doesn't after that cliffy). I do highly recommend this book, be warned it does end on a cliffhanger, and check TW before reading.
We love a hot rockstar romance. 🎶🎸 I read the Darkest Chord by Jenn Bullard and really enjoyed it! So let’s talk about it. 😉
*Partial Blurb* I just wanted to get out of my little town, leave the past behind. I found Turner and Roark, embraced music, and unloaded my pain into my songs. I wanted to show people I could be their voice since I know what it’s like to be small, quiet, and terrified. But what happens when Derek, my former bully, pops back into my life with hurtful words and tries to force me back into my past?
When I picked this book up I was NOT expecting it to be this spicy. Honestly I wasn’t even sure what to expect period. 😂 The depth in the writing was amazing and I loved it. I loved getting to know all of the characters and their back stories. I think Jenn did such a great job with the character development in this. I adored Lennon. 🥹 Like I wanna be her BFF lol. The sweetest most selfless human and the strongest for that matter. She goes through so much and came out so strong in the end. Now the guys.. 🥵 Holy cow. I can’t even choose which one I like more. I’d love to be in the middle of a Roark & Turner sandwich. 🥵 I am also 100% behind Derek being redeemable; you can fight me if you want but I won’t change my mind. 😬 The ending of this… Honestly pissed me off. 🥴 Like I’m so mad about this cliffhanger, but I had such an odd feeling that something similar to this was gonna happen. 🥲 All in all this book was so fun to read!! And I have to mention that the spice was SPICIN. 🥵🔥
Jenn just took my heart and destroyed it with this story... 😭
Lennon is our FMC and had a terrible childhood. Once she made it out of her childhood town, she became the lead singer for The Darkest Nights and has turned her trauma into music that touches all her fans with powerful messages. Her band mates are Turner, Roark, Atlas and Mav. Turner, Roark and Lennon are in a thruple and are truly perfect for each other. Atlas and Mav are like brothers to them and are super close. They all have their pasts and are protective of each other. This is a group of misfits who have found each other and work to help others going through similar issues with their music and beautiful advice at VIP Meet and Greets.
While on tour, Derek is hired as the social media manager of the band, and we quickly find out that he was part of the reason Lennon had a terrible childhood. He is still the bully Lennon knew, and is out to mess with her. Will Derek destroy everything Lennon has build for her self, or will he find out that everything he thought he knew is wrong and clouded by his own troubles during childhood.
You will love the characters, hate the characters, want to protect the characters, and will have your emotions bounce all over the place as this story unravels. Be prepared for lots of steamy scenes to help break up the series stuff. The cliffhanger is a shocker and will have you gasping out loud.
My very first read from Jenn Bullard and what a read it was.
Lennon wanted to leave the past behind. Her mother had bi polar disorder and took off one day., never to return.
Lennon found Turner and Roark, embraced music, and unloaded her pain into songs.
Derek bullied Lennon all through high school and encouraged others to torture her. Her only safe place was with Turner and Roark and their music.
They are all thrown together over and over again by fate and stuck in close proximity while touring as a band.
I enjoyed the book overall its an emotional Rollercoaster read of past bullying / abuse. Lennon battles with self esteem / confidence, which I can relate to. One minute she's kick ass and sassy and the next she's doubting herself.
I loved Turner and Roark they were so possessive and protective of her. They were exactly what she needed. Derek is a bully, he has anger issues and his own past scars yet he wants her and she's attracted to him even though she hates him. Their souls are calling to one another.
This is a why choose reverse harem, where pretty much anything goes, love is love and what a lot of love there is, its a spicy read with a cliffhanger ending!
The Darkest Chord by Jenn Bullard ✨ARC Book Review✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
You’ll love this book if you like…
🎸Dark Why Choose Romance

Who doesn’t love a group of misfits that have been through hell and back? While also somehow growing up and becoming one of the best human beings ever!
I loved how caring and genuinely happy they are about their fans. I also love how they listen to them and help provide the best advice!
You will fall in love with these characters, hate them at times, and wish you were there to protect them! This book will have your emotions bouncing all over the place! Like seriously this book is an emotional rollercoaster!
There are so many SPICY scenes that are so good! And the cliffhanger at the end is a total shocker! You will be gasping out loud and wishing the next book was out to find out what happens next!
If you are looking for a book that has an established part of the relationship, an ex bully, really emotionally taut moments that will rip your heart out and an underlying sinister vibe that all culminates in a wicked ending that will have you gagging for the end to this duet, then this is definitely the book for you! I loved the rock band on tour setting, the angst of confronting the childhood bully, the flashbacks and nightmares of a past that has left its scarred and the loving and quirky relationship shared by the main characters. So much about this to love, gummy bears, hanger, sugar zooming and guys that just totally get their girl and each other. This is a poly RH, with lots of hot MM action as well as group play that will really get you going. I also loved the quieter moments and the peace to be found there. Deplorable parents do not make the child like them and my favourite part was Lennon's determination to be good, to empower those that she could and to reach and help those fans that needed it. Mental health is an issue true to my heart and although parts of this book ripped my heart out, I just hope that Lennon gets her perfect and happy ending where she helps people.
Lennon grew up in a small town and her childhood was terrible. Her father deserted the family when she was very young. Her mother was not well and disappeared on and off when Lennon was very young. Many times Lennon would go hungry when her mom forgot to get groceries. Then Derrick started bullying her. And rumors swirled about her. Derrick lived across the street with a domineering and abusive father. His mom tended to stay with her sister. So Derrick's childhood was awful too. He started some of the rumors about Lennon and began bullying her when he couldn't go after his abuser. This tale so well written. At times it is so hard to read, other times it's uplifting and comfortable and then there is so much love and steam. A lot of 'fan your face' steam. Our author has created a very realistic world about the music industry with well developed characters that you want to be close to. Some you will love and others you definitely won't. Plot twists, angst, danger, love, hate, discovery, secrets, and a nasty cliffhanger all drive this amazing tale. Be prepared to experience a gaumet of emotions as you read.
O.M.G…I want to say I didn’t see the ending coming but I just had a feeling that it was going to turn out something like it did. The biggest difference was that only the truth would come out not what actually happened. I can’t say more than that but I will say you will be kept on your toes and continually getting turn on by all the heat. The Darkest Chord is filled with so many secrets, lies, drama, angst, mysteries, twists, turns, things going sideways, all the feels, and so soooo much heat🔥🔥. This is the first book from Jenn Bullard but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved every page from start to finish and can’t wait to find out what happens to Derek, Lennon, Roark, Turner, Jordan, Layla, Carrie, Grant, and James. I want to say so much but don’t want to give the plot away. Let’s just say that I hope Roark, Turner, and Derek will be able to figure out what is going on sooner rather than later! I truly recommend The Darkest Chord, The Darkest Night Series, and Jenn Bullard as an author. Happy Reading!!
I REALLY wanted to like this book, but I’m having such a hard time. For one, it needs another pass through on editing. 3 different colors are used to describe Lennons nips. And apparently she has 3 different flavors for her 🐱 Also I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how after less than a week, she’s all in with Derek after the horrible way he treated her for basically her entire childhood. Like sis, calm down! He was down right horrible to you and you’re already jumping him. The spice was good but the scenes were very repetitive. There’s definitely more spice than plot, that’s for sure. I did enjoy the relationship that Turner, Roarke, and Lennon share. They are very open with one another. But sometimes the dialogue doesn’t reflect how people in their late 20s and 30s speak. It was very childish at times. The book definitely drags too. The ending didn’t make much sense. Obviously we knew this person was going to be a problem but how it happened didn’t line up with how protective her guys are with her.
Yes! 100% yes this book was so good. This is a why choose romance. Our fmc Lennon takes her pain and turns it into music. The band is close and protective of each other. Especially Lennon , Turner & Roark. I am completely in love with Lennon, Roark and Turner. Their dynamic is so beautiful. Their passion and love for each other and the fans is something to watch add in their hot af bedroom chemistry and we have the perfect trio…then in comes Derek. The wild card the group didn’t see coming and didn’t think would fit but somehow does.
There is so much going on in this book I don’t want to give too much away so I will say be sure to have tissues on hand, brace for hating and loving these characters, be ready to ask yourself a half million questions while sifting through past traumas and be prepared for some hot and steamy moments.
Check trigger warnings for this one and brave for that cliffy cause it’s a doozy.
We have the female main character, Lennon who is a spitfire. Lovely girl with traumatic childhood and all around amazing human being.
Roark is the drummer of the band, Irish and protective.
Turner is the guitarist who is broody and growly.
Derek is the bully from Lennon’s childhood who is the new social media person and too hot for his own good.
I enjoyed seeing a book start with the relationship between the first three already established. It’s rare to see that. They have a wonderful relationship. The details of how the band operates was great, too.
I liked that there were many side characters who were friends and several who were not. Helped keep it well rounded.
I liked how the situations were handled and how they discussed sensitive topics.
Quite the cliffhanger, but I’ll be impatiently waiting for the next book.
I normally don't read rockstar stories, but I love this arthurs book's, so I thought I'd give it a chance, and man am I glad I ever did. This story had me from the start turning pages as the scenes were set and the party began so to speak.
Lennon is the lead singer for the band The Darkest Nights and is in a relationship with Roark and Turner 2 of her bandmates. I loved this from the start. They've all been to hell and back from their past horrors and have grown deeper in love for each other and they have each others back. Now when Derek enters the picture from Lennon's past thing's start happening.
I'm not giving any spoilers away you just have to read it. It is a long book, so just get ready for all the twists, turns and unveiling of secrets, and the many hot af moments between these character's that'll leave you panting for more. Then there's that lil plot twist of a cliffhanger ending that has me needing the next book.
But I’ve just finished The Darkest Chord by Jenn Bullard and is it wrong for me to actually hate on a character in a book? Like want to give them a good beating? Meet Lennon, she’s the bratty singer and band member of The Darkest Nights. She’s had a childhood nobody would want to remember, left to fend for herself by her crazy manic mother from around 10 years old, then bullied by her neighbour Derek and constantly watching her back. She escapes the small town once she learns she’s alone in the world (her dad left years previously) and joins the band, Roark and Turner turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to her. Mav and Atlas also keep her back. But her past and all that she fled comes back to give her real life nightmares. Can she forgive and forget all that happened? Why does Derek hate her so much?

Lots of triggers, make sure you read them and understand them.
I don't know if I can handle these cliffhanger endings 😭. I was so invested in the story I didn't realize I was nearing the end and now I have to wait to get some answers 😫.
This book covers some dark topics such as child abuse, SA, self harm, and bullying. Lennon has gone through some things and she's come out of it a wonderful person. She's finally surrounded by people who care about her. Roark and Turner were absolutely my favorite part of this story. They care so much for her. Derek I'm going to be honest I was NOT a fan of his. Did that change by the end? Somewhat.
Even though some heavy topics were covered this still turned out to be one incredibly 🌶 read. I still can't get over all the twists and turns the story took. What's going to happen next? I can honestly say I have no clue that ending was insane.
I was so excited after reading Jenn's first duet that we'd see Turner in her next series. Lennon, Roark, and Turner, ugh these three, LOVE. Lennon our FMC has had a rough upbringing, and when Roark and Turner come into her life, it begins to make sense. She finds being on stage and making music brings so much happiness in her life, as well as something amazing to live for. The relationship that the 3 of them have is off the charts, and I honestly love the dynamic that it brings to this book. The heat, WHEW.
Ah, Derek, his nickname is probably the best nickname ever LOL. And even though it took me (well Derek to convince me actually) a bit to like him, he gets there fighting tooth and nail. I really like Jenn's ability to flesh out the characters, not leaving anyone behind so that you can get to know them and their personalities.
The cliffhanger is bad, be prepared, but know that you're in great company of heartbreak. I can't wait for book 2 and know Jenn has a few more bumps or cliffs to shove us off of before we get our HEA.
Wow! This book was such a wild ride. My jaw actually dropped during that last chapter and I'm desperate for the next book. This rockstar reverse harem romance was absolutely amazing! I have a big girl crush on Lennon. She's been through a hugely traumatic upbringing and then meeting Turner and Roark and making music gave her so much happiness and something to live for.
I loved the relationship Lennon has with her two men and the smut in this book was next level! Wow, some of the scenes were absolutely smoking hot.
This is a long book, but I loved every minute of it. I felt like I really got to know these characters and their back story. I felt like I was right there with them on their tour bus.
Derek....it took me a while to change my mind on him. I thought the nickname they gave him was absolutely hilarious, but once we learn why he's the way he is, I definitely changed my mind.
There is a lot more to be revealed in this story and towards the end we got some shocking secrets.
