Bryan Kaplan grew up in the small town of Hermosa Beach, a quaint beachside suburb outside of Los Angeles, California. Before going on to study Finance and English Literature at Northeastern University, Kaplan became one of the first openly LGBTQ American football captains at his high school. It was during his time there that he crafted his passion for creative fiction writing in his spare time.
