Okay, I may be a bit of a geek...

I enjoyed this textbook. It was well written, and thorough but not boring. Lots of valuable information for a first year course in general Biology. Concepts were well explained and accompanied by excellent charts and figures.

The only hurdle I had was getting through the ATP cycle (aerobic respiration). Wow, that was a struggle - and I'm pretty good with Chemistry :p

This book is long but it took me 2 years to finish this but, it was all worth it. This book is all about the periodic table, reproduction in the nature, cells, body parts/anatomy, sex in humans and animals, human genitalia, energy, animal behaviors and other things in Biology. This really helped me a lot in 7th grade, for example, when we were learning about asexual and sexual reproduction, it helped me learn mitosis and meiosis. Another one is that in the periodic table, there are some redacted elements and that some chemicals reacting with the other may have a chemical reaction or not. Also, cool fact, did you know our blood is not only water but made from a gel like substance which is 90% water and 10% other chemicals that help carry the blood to the body.

Use este libro para estudiar para mi examen de medicina y sin duda fue uno de los mejores que he visto, me encantaron los resúmenes y tablas que ponen en cada página y por eso lo considero como un libro fundamental para estudiar ciencia.

Well, the semester is over, but somehow I still think I will be using this book in the future.

As is the case with most textbooks, I didn't read every page. But I certainly read more in this textbook than just about any other! It's a great edition filled with well written information pertinent to anyone needing basic biology background.

I really love this book. It was so helpful in going over again what was thrown at me in class. I can only suggest this edition for anyone wanting a thorough, yet including all the basics (plants, animals and humans), background in biology.

It's a good textbook, but I have to say that I like Campbell's text much, much better. Besides, I just don't see the point of needing to buy two intro-level biology texts for the one-year rotation required for medical school.
