Unfortunately, she has absolutely no idea what to do next.

Perhaps it’s time she found something…meaningful to do with her time.

Something… important.

Whether or not that something includes her new job for a reclusive marquess, or a happily ever after with one of the suitors she left behind in London remains to be seen.

All Selina knows for sure, is that for the first time in her entire life, she’s the mistress of her own destiny.
And she’s going to enjoy every minute of it…
This sensual, steamy love story will give you all the feels and melt your Kindle along with your heart.

Who is S.M. LaViolette?

S.M. (that’s short for Shantal Marie) writes super spicy historical romance and historical erotic romance. S.M. likes to write about heroes and heroines who don't fit the mold--that means heroes who aren't always dukes and heroines who aren't always virgins.

People have described S.M.'s style as dark, angsty, and dryly witty.

S.M. also writes historical romance under the pen name Minerva Spencer, and historical mystery under S.M. Goodwin.

S.M. has been a criminal prosecutor, college history teacher, B&B operator, dock worker, ice cream manufacturer, reader for the blind, motel maid, and bounty hunter.

Okay, so the part about being a bounty hunter is a lie.

S.M. does, however, know how to hypnotize a Dungeness crab, sew her own Regency Era clothing, knit a frog hat, juggle, rebuild a 1959 American Rambler, and gain control of Asia (and hold on to it) in the game of RISK.

Pretty simple and straightforward story, not ground breaking but entertaining.

This one reminded me a lot of The Arrangement by Mary Balogh and Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare but with a lot more descriptive sex scenes, which is to be expected from this pen name.
This was a loose beauty and the beast retelling with an age-gap that didn’t really matter, and a disabled hero who didn’t get magically cured. The beginning of this followed lines of action from the previous book, it does read like a stand alone but the story is more enjoyable if you have read the previous ones about her sisters. I am enjoying this series, even if the plotting has been a bit weak, but this one was less ambitious and as a result, more fluid and well constructed. Small note, this could have used another pass over by the proof reader as there were lots of quotation marks in places where they shouldn’t be and often some were left out of where they should be, making me need to read dialogue twice sometimes.

But, as always, I enjoy this author’s rich language and research into interesting subject matter. I liked the updates from past characters which were done with a light hand through letter writing and felt organic and not like she was inserting past characters in her newest book.

Overall a good addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.

This is a favorite author of mine and I like that she does not write the same book over and over again. The writing and research regarding blindness was very good with likeable main characters. This can be read as a stand-alone but reading the previous books does give you insight into the family. Selina was a more sedate book than some of S.M's previous stories and there is no sex between the couple before marriage (this was not the case with Caius previous relationships). I enjoyed the authors notes at the end as it often adds insight. I liked it but not my favorite of the series. 3.75*

Ahhh!

This was freaking beautiful! A lovely slow burn with so much heart. Caius and Selina were a marvelous pair.

Watching them grow closer and coming to understand each other was lovely.

This series just never misses for me.

Continuing with my S.M. LaViolette kick.
This book is direct continuation of the Hycinth’s story we pick up where we left off but this time from Selina’s point of view. However I still think it can be read on its own.

This was more traditional romance in the sense of heroine being the savior of our hurt hero.
Yet I still liked it because they were so open with each other and drama was held back to minimum.
Great easy read.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The third book in Minerva Spencer’s Bellamy Sisters series is an extremely engaging, well written story about Selina and Caius - a sensual and tender tale with many laugh out loud, and some heart breaking, moments. Caius has been suffering through a terrible year and is desolate, sorrowful and has all but given up when Selina enters his life like a breath of fresh air, she settles in as his house keeper and is well liked by everyone being gentle and kind - she also has a backbone of steel and the ability to get things done. Their relationship develops over time, they are both endearing and so good for each other, I was thoroughly drawn in to their story. I had been looking forward to this book release for some time and Minerva Spencer, in her own inimitable way, has again written a spectacular book!

Selina
4.5 Stars

As the beautiful, sweet and charming Bellamy sister, Lady Selina is expected to marry for money and save the family from her father's debts. But with her sisters' sudden marriages, and her reputation in tatters, Selina seizes the opportunity to live her own life. Taking a position as housekeeper to a damaged and reclusive marquess, Selina discovers where her true strength and value lie ... in the arms of a man who appreciates her for more than her looks.

Series note: Besides a couple of references to Phoebe and Hy's stories, Selina's book is completely separate.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling similar to Teresa Medeiros' Yours Until Dawn and Tessa Dare's Romancing the Duke both of which are amongst my favorite historical romances.

The slow burn romance between Selina and her new employer, Caius Graham, Marquess of Shaftsbury, is delightful. They have excellent snarky banter and their chemistry, once they give in to their attraction, is off the charts. There is, thankfully, no excessive angst as the characters behave like reasonable adults, and any potential for misunderstandings is nipped in the bud. That said, there is some minor drama toward the end, but it is resolved quickly as Caius

One of the best aspects of Minerva Spencer's heroes is their moral complexity. Similar to Needham and Chatham, Caius recognizes that his past selfishness has had serious repercussions and seeks to make amends. Another highlight is Selina's personal growth as she accepts that she is more than a pretty face and that she deserves more than a marriage of convenience.

All in all, this series gets better with each installment and I am eagerly awaiting Aurelia's book, which will be published in the next few days.

Overall, enjoyable read. She’s 21 and he’s 37. I think she was refreshing for the H while he offered a challenge with his grumpiness.
He is blind due to an accident and remains that way throughout the story.

5 stars 🌟 3.5 🌶️ Selina and Caius FOREVER!! This was my favorite in the series so far. Caius was so angry and scarred and got his life turned absolutely upside down by gentle Selina and ahhhhh it was so freaking adorable. This book taught me patience and love can be shown in so many different ways. Caius was so vulnerable but in the best way, and Selina brought him right out of his shell. And the spice was great as usual!! Minerva Spencer is a fantastic author and is just incredible at showing couples fall in love. I can’t wait to read more in this series!!

S.M. LaViolette (aka Minerva Spencer) is another of my favorite authors. I have been reading her books since 2021 and I have read 16 books as Minerva Spencer and this is my 13th book as S.M. LaViolette. I just love her writing.

I loved Selina and Caius. I loved their personalities and each of their stories. I loved the depth of characters S.M. got with them. I loved Caius the most. How could you not root for him. Selena was so patient and loving and understanding. Just a great read.

A marquess lives in darkness after a tragic accident and cuts himself off from the outside world. A young lady with a ruined reputation, takes a chance on being something other than a beautiful ornament. She makes it her mission to bring the marquess back to life. S.M. LAVIOLETTE explores with perception and invention living in a world of adversity.
Not your usual cookie cutter heroine.
Very emotional... Very erotic.

I liked the story and the characters, although I was not sure why the story went on for hours after the marriage. Shouldn't the reader be wondering, hoping, puzzling or waiting for a revelation or a wish come true? It felt more like bobbing along and wondering why I was still reading. The narration was great but there was a constant bumping sound during the last half, making me look to the ceiling every time. I think the narrator was playing with the mic.

Lady Selina Bellamy is expected to marry a wealthy man and save her entire family from financial ruin. Then Selina’s shy, reclusive sister Hy marries a duke and relieves Selina of her only responsibility in life. When a scoundrel kidnaps Selina & a knight in not so shining armour arrives to rescue her, she rescues herself & takes their money with her too. She then talks her way into becoming a housekeeper for a reclusive marquis.
This book was an absolute joy. I adored both Caius & Selina both are at low points in their life, he gives her the means to make something of herself & she makes him realise his life isn’t over, they were two stellar characters & I loved their journey to a HEA, the secondary characters are also wonderful. A different but compelling read which will pull at your heart strings as well as rejoice as each hurdle is overcome.
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I've read this last month but my birthday came up and I forgot to rate Selina 😭.

Anyway...

Minerva Spencer's style of writing is unparalleled. I love how she creates complex characters and makes the two different characters fit perfectly. This book is the perfect example of that.

Selina is extremely beautiful and because of her looks, it is hard for her to find genuine love and such. We all know what pretty privilege is.

And, you know what's perfect? Selina's beauty is useless in this book coz the future love of her life is blind. Lol.

Perfect.

And, also, I admire grumpy x sunshine tropes so I had fun reading this one. They took their time developing their love for one another. I loved it when Selina is finally able to do something she's good at—except for being an ornament, of course. Selina and Caius snug together perfectly like screw to its nut (don't mind the suggestive analogy, please. You know what I mean).

The duke need her because of her ability, compassion, sense of duty, and responsibility, not because she's extremely pretty. Selina wanted a purpose in life and she got the full package—a family of her own, an estate to manage together with her husband. All is good.

Minerva Spencer will be the death of me.

Awesomely entertaining. I loved this story in the series. If you like this Author’s work, you will not be disappointed. The dialog is hilarious and fast paced. Ties the other books of the series together. I only wish there was an extended version because I love getting lost in the fictional adventures. Selina has the most perfect balance of good hearted and a little shitty mischievous.

4 ⭐️

This one is really good in that it gives Selina, probably the seemingly least interesting sister, a purpose and place to grow. Being the pretty one sucks, and when your only purpose is marriage and you're a dummy who falls into a pretty boy's trap, well, it's time to run off and become a maid. And while I make a little fun, this plot totally works, and honestly, Selina is way more of an endearing character than I was expecting. And Caius is just soooooo swoony. Broken and becoming increasingly more depressed, watching his growth from throwing things at his servants and pondering the loaded pistol in his drawer to valuing his life again was so emotional. Even when you feel bad for him, his constant anger towards pity makes you hesitate to put that label on what you’re feeling.

This is very much a Beauty and the Beast retelling, but it’s super well done and like this whole series and overall good time. This author is really good at dealing with super heavy emotions in a very realistic way. And the way she has her characters work through those moments makes for an excellent story.

Selena is the third novel in the Bellamy Sisters series. We meet all the siblings in book one as they draw us to delve into each of their lives in the upcoming books. I suggest you read this series in the order they were written.

Phoebe’s story is told first. You’ll fall in love with the reluctant sister willing to go to any length to save her beloved siblings while navigating around their horrid parents. Of course Phoebe doesn’t end before she teases us to jump into the next in the series—Hyacinth. She is the quirky uninhibited one that we can’t wait to follow into her outrageous adventures. After two bang-up works, I admit I wasn’t sure how the third of five sisters would hold up. Selena is the quiet beauty, raised to sit still, look pretty, and catch a rich peer for a husband. Yawn. Then I remembered I was reading Minerva Spencer. I shouldn’t have worried. I’ve read almost all of Spencer’s work and I’ve not been disappointed yet. She can spin a tale like few others, and I finished Selena announcing it was my very fav. Now I will really yawn since I stayed up all night reading. I only regret I have to wait for the next in the series.

Oh wow! I never thought that i would love a historical romance book but here we are.

The representation in this book was phenomenal. Caius the male lead goes through a carriage accident and ends up blind. He also lost his wife and his best friend in that accident.
After the accident, he became a recluse and doesn’t leave his room. Here comes Selina, who just ran away from a scandalous situation and overhears Morris, the butler, beg a housemaid to stay in her job. Selina seizes the chance and offers to become the housekeeper for Caius.

I love how Selina forces Caius to leave his room and do his job. She teaches him how to cope with his new reality. At first he’s so hung on firing her to be rid of her meddling. Then, she tells him to give her 30 days to show that she can do her job properly and if he doesn’t like what she’s done by the end of the 30 days, he’ll fire her.

This book was beautiful and emotional. Again the representative was great. We love to see inclusivity in books.

This is why I love Minerva Spencer. I really didn’t enjoy Hyacinth. It’s smutty and dirty and over the line for my taste. Here we are with exactly the opposite kind of story for Selina, the middle child raised by her abusive wretch of a mother to believe her beauty her only asset. I loved it from first to last. It has all the feels she’s so good at, from the hair raising back story to…well, I can’t write much more without spoiling it. Let’s just say figuring out how a person with this particular disability would live in that time period. It’s really genius to put these two people together. By the way, his name is spelled Caius but it’s pronounced Keys. This is one reason I love audiobooks. The secondary characters are great, the pacing is perfect, and the epilogue is lovely. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this series.

Stayed up til 2am just to finish!

This book is LOVELY. I laughed, I cried, I swooned.

Selina is a diamond of the first water, who has been told all her life that she's only fit to be a beautiful wife to (preferably) an obscenely rich man. So what happens when events conspire to ruin her?

Why, she lies to get a job working for a newly-blind Marquess, who is wallowing in despair and behaving very badly indeed.

This is a very slow-burn romance, but once it gets going, whew! (Caius is a naughty one) I also loved Selina's journey of self-discovery, and how she matured as a character.

It's nice to read a book where the MCs are so well-written and observed. I read for three hours straight because I literally couldn't put it down, it grabbed me that much.

Shaftsbury and Selina

This was a slow-burn , ages gap beautifully crafted story between the Marquess of Shaftsbury and Lady Selina Bellamy.
Lady Selina was known for her beauty and was told that her beauty was all she was good for. Shaftsbury experienced a rather humbling setback with disastrous results about a year prior to their meeting. The way Ms. LaViolette wove this tale was beautiful. She showed how both of the characters overcame their shortcomings and grew into their relationship. It took some time for them to realize their love for each other. Their desire was evident, but love snuck up on them both. I enjoyed reading about their journey.

Good story drug out too long

This was an interesting and enjoyable plot. But, sadly, one of those books that I got bored with and just wished it would hurry and end already. There was also far too much time wasted on love scenes - like the author must have been determined to get enough in there to classify as erotica. I won’t be reading more of this author’s books.

Boring

Felt like a ghost writer wrote this. The premise was good, but I just didn't feel the connection between the main characters. Also there were too many mundane conversation. I skipped over much of the book.

Third book and the stories just repeats itself.
Is there always going to be a brother/cousin in the middle? Or being in a loveless marriage or engagement prior to meeting the female character?
I will just stop reading this series.
