'Emissary of Light' is a beautiful story of love and hope for worldwide peace. It is a deeply spiritual journey told exceedingly well by the author. I believe this was James Twyman's first book. He has written several since, but this is by far the best. It is one of the most inspirational books I've ever read.

Emissary of Light offers a perspective on inner peace and tranquility. It is not a unique view for many who believe that God and peace are within each and every person just looking for a way out. But it is yet another way to explain it. The story of how James came upon this realization or I should say how it was shown to him. It starts slow but really takes off after the stage is set.

Inexplicably drawn to a conflicted part of the world he met those who try to preserve peace in the world. Not in the way you would normally think but in a spiritual way. By exuding the light of peace through mediation. The lessons on peace, love and life have been heard before but the book drew me in and would not release me for some reason. It was as if I was being told an old lesson in a new way. Is humanity ready for the next step in the evolution of their spirituality? The message of the book is that we are, although I tend to personally doubt that.

It speaks to the fact that all religions are man made and speak to the person in a way that they can understand. That it matters not which one you believe in but the fact that you believe in "The Divine Light". That people only see what they allow themselves to see and if it is Jesus or Buddha or Muhammad it makes no difference because it is the "Divine Light" behind the teaches of compassion and love that is what it is all about. I know this will not sit well with many people and this alone will turn them away from the book. But I believe there is a lot to be considered here.

I believe this book is a very good book that should be read by those interested in spirituality. And even if you don't agree with what is being said the story of the individual and his travels are interesting in themselves. As he explains what he felt and what he thought. It adds a personal dimension to the book that is interesting.

Quite boring and hardly believeable New Age novel. Characters are under-developed. I would not reccomend it.

Speaks to me but might be too visionary for some readers.

This is a spiritual autobiography. The book takes us on a journey that many of us have not taken. It is a journey of trust, adventure, fear and imagination.

On the newer editions, other reviewers have commented that this journey is mostly imagined, especially the last chapter. Nevertheless, it is food for thought, food for our souls.

The Spirit works in mysterious ways. James trusts his intuition and considers the possibilities of the intuitions being Divine.

James is a normal man with normal ambitions, he doesn't shoot for the stars but does have an opened mind and heart and that is where one can make things happen. Experiences that James had never imagined possible became possible for James.

James is a peace advocate and his spirituality is focused on finding the peace within. Only with this peace within, can James change himself and in the process accept the challenge of world peace.

James is a follower of St. Francis of Assisi, who many know has the Troubadour of Peace.

James has given many concerts, workshops and retreats, using Francis has his spiritual guide.

One of my first introductions to the spiritual world and direct connections to our higher power and oneness. In 1996 this was way outside the beliefs of the majority. I think today there are more who will understand and believe this autobiographical journey. I American re reading it.

Re-reading. I forgot to grab a book before heading out on holiday and found this one in the back of Dave's vehicle. Most Excellent!

James Twyman is an inspiration as a human and a great story teller. Not only did I derive great pleasure from the read, but this story has stayed with me for years!
