A page-turning story full of romance and fun, A Lady's Scheme follows three friends on their journey to capture the hearts of the men they desire.
Debuting isn’t always the magical experience it’s thought to be. Whether it’s a social calamity or forbidden love, this group of friends is having a difficult time finding their match and may need to hatch an audacious scheme to salvage the season. What could go wrong?
Calling all Bridgerton and Romcom fans. This book will NOT disappoint. "Resting grump Visage" is forever locked in my vocabulary now. It's easy to see why this book is an amazon best seller. Well written, good pacing and entertaining characters.

I share a few groups with author Shannon Wiederkehr and her comedic spin on the genre sounded both refreshing, and charming.
Seraphina’s debut into society appears to be going disastrously but it’s truly a testament to her unforgettable presence. She’s caught the attention of the notable, albeit untitled, gentleman Thomas Radcliffe. Tensions arise between the two after Seraphina inadvertently falls onto Thomas twice, earning his disapproval. Despite the seeming dislike between the pair, there’s an undeniable attraction there and I live for that trope 🙏. I really enjoyed reading about Seraphina, and her friends, journey to find the love of their lives.
Wiederkehr’s A Lady’s Scheme is a playful addition to the regency romcom genre, it brought me so much joy and the spice was delectable. I enjoy third person POV but, on this occasion, I found the narrative pretty challenging to follow. The jump between the particular character the reader is following was unclear, leaving me a little confused. However this is my only complaint, and I highly recommend this for readers who are a fan of the genre. I look forward to reading the rest of the series throughout 2024. •~✾~•
I very seldom quit reading a book. Sadly A Lady's Scheme (the March 2021 edition) by Shannon Wiederkehr has the dubious honor of joining the ranks of DNF.
I should have believed the other reviewers who tried to school the author about the proper titles and ways of addressing a member of the peerage. I hope the author listens because it was truly distracting and annoying. Another mentioned the juvenile content and dialogue. I promise to pay better attention to other reviews in the future.
I cannot recommend this book, and I'm sorry I wasted any time on it.
Content 411: This book contains secular and religious swearing, as well as sexual content.
I did enjoy this story. Fi is known for getting into awkward situations. She meets Radcliffe by accidently bumping into him at a ball. Another time she pushes him into the river. Radcliffe finds her accidents attracting him and gradually they both realise that they are attracted to each other. Throughout the story, Fi and her friends plot to compromise men who they wish to have as suitors. Their ideas and actions did make me laugh and added to the enjoyment of the book. Will the three ladies eventually find husbands? Read on and enjoy.
My spirits heard my call and brought me to this series ! They absolutely love me if they did this.
This is Bridgerton meets pride and prejudice with humor mixed on it.
Fi has always had a knack for not being able to act very lady-like even when she tries. Her parents love her so much that even though they had up her dowry to try and get her some suitors, they will be happy if she does not marry as long as she is always herself and happy. Fi is ok with that. Which means she dedicates her time to help her friends get their perfect love story. Fi just keeps falling (literally) into Mr. Radcliffe along the way.
A regency rom com at its finest. Absolutely adored the characters in this book. The 3 girls are the best of friends despite or because each of their endearing quirks. They each meet blokes that they want to marry and go about getting their hearts desire.
Full of witty banter, fun times and one steamy scene, and a secret revolving door. 😉
An epilogue that takes you 10 years down the track, I love it when authors do that. And then an added epilogue 9 years down the track when the girls of the original 3 have their turn at debuting for the season. Fun times ahead. Can’t wait to read more in the series
Not sure how I feel about it. It’s cute and funny but it feels modern. She squeezed three matches into a novella so you don’t get too attached to anyone, sadly. There are a lot of historical mistakes, which usually puts me off an author. But she’s popular enough that this is the first of 19 in the series so maybe she improves on closer acquaintance. I’ll probably try another since I can get them on the library app. Please dont buy it, it’s not worth it. I don’t recommend the audiobook. It’s AI and not well done.
There was a lot to like about this book, but there was also a lot of fluff. I think the author overreached by trying to do three stories in one book. So many characters are thrown at you in the beginning that it was hard to keep them straight. Also, telling the story from the points of view of three characters was unnecessary and also confusing. That said, I liked the main thread of the story but if the the stories were separate, the characters could have been much better developed.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a touch of humor mixed in with historical fiction romance -- it has it all! The characters are delightful, and the plot is light and full of quirky mishaps, all in the name of romance. The book offered everything a good book should, which is to allow for a little escape time with a lot of smiles. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy the rest of the series just as much.
A very enjoyable regency romance that was funny and quick to read. The short chapters keep me going. The characters were done well. The book is about three young women being introduced to society. The were each interested in man of their choosing and were trying to get the blessings of their families and friends. Highly recommended.
The mischief and humor and general mayhem swirling around Fi in this story was great. It borders on the Murphy's Law that has a tendency to follow me around sometimes, so I can actually see how some of those things could actually happen to someone (even though this is only a story). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
This is one of those warm-your-heart kind of books that pairs very well with a cozy spot by the fireplace. It’s lighthearted and witty yet even has a pretty steamy sex scene! Definitely one to pick up if you’re looking for something easy and humorous with romance in the regency era.
DNF after only a handful of pages due to distractingly wrong titles and not remotely realistic way of speaking. Who refers to their own mother by her title with friends, and the incorrect female title at that? It’s too annoying to continue, so if these things don’t bother you, it might be a perfectly fine story.
Maybe 2.5 I appreciated the triple friend storyline that intertwined. I appreciated the lack of foul language. But it had some spicy scenes that felt rushed. The character development and plot felt rushed and contrived. An obvious HEA with little complication. I finished it, but didn't enjoy this style of writing.

I really enjoyed this book. The character development was wonderful, the stories were very funny, and I enjoyed the funny banter. I highly recommend this book to anyone and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m obsessed with Bridgerton and after reading Julia Quinn’s other books, I found this series while looking for other regency romances and I’m so glad I did! It’s both steamy and hysterical and I can’t wait to read them all!
Great characters. Well written. Moves on its own nothing forced. Emotionally invested in all the characters. One spot where I skipped the tmi intimate details. Good story idea.
A lot of action and planning and conniving between three friends during their first season. In the end they each have their own hea. Was cute and clean and enjoyable and did not need the one detailed intimate scene thrown in near the end.
This was such an enjoyable book to read. Loved all the characters in the book. Hoped for a happy ending for all! I hope you enjoy as much as I did. Can't wait to read more from this author.
I absolutely loved everything about this book! I refuse to give spoilers but for those of you who love spice 😘. I will definitely be reading more in this series and I have found a new author to binge! thanks to romencebooklovers.com. Kudos!
I found the story line to ‘Plod’ I just wanted to finish it as I had started to read it. I do not recommend it at all - it was boring - totally expected outcomes and the way it was written was dull to me. Mediocre book.
Romantic comedy. Spice level 3, open (revolving) door. Three young ladies determined to marry for love. Hysterically funny. Delightful plot. Multiple POV. Quick read. If you want to laugh. Read this.
When three young girls first debut. Their world turns upside down. With one hilarious misadventure after another can they come around to a happy ending?
