For fifty years the former United States has been divided into four territories. Three of those territories are occupied by foreign powers and the northern border is constantly threatened by a fourth. The army of the Northern Plains Territory could finally be in a position to reunify a ravaged continent. Sixteen-year-old Abigail is sent to the front to bring supplies to her father so he can survive the harsh northern winter and on her brief but life-changing trip she witnesses a battle that will change the course of history and become entangled with characters that will be woven into the nation's narrative forever.Once home Abigail will be forced to make heart-wrenching decisions in order to survive. Her choices will afford her the opportunity to deliver an entire community and put her in a position to save a nation if she can rise to the occasion.
Can a sheltered young woman survive in a dystopian war-torn world? Can she evolve enough to be an asset and ride shoulder to shoulder with an outlawed band of brigands, who might just be the only hope for reunification of the country? And, will she be the one to save and inspire the man who would change history or the one who precipitates his downfall?
I had never read a Dystopian novel before and I can say this was very interesting. Kept my interest all the way through and a varied number of situations and destinations. Abigail definitely was the saving grace in this book! Thank you Carrin.
